..Would you reccomend the Sarlacc set? I really like how it looks, but even with the giant sarlacc pit, when it came down to it I just couldn't bring myself to pull that $80 trigger....

Haven't opened it yet, but I'll check back in with some thoughts after I do.  The price is certainly strike 1 - but if I had a specific LEGO budget limit, I would be way under it lately.

*After building...*

I don't think it's a stretch to say that we have the best designed skiff and Sarlacc to date in 75396; but after building this it's clear to me that the piece count of the Sarlacc feels excessive.  Having said that, if this 'Super-Sarlacc' were included with the upcoming Sail Barge it would surely cause a pricey set to go bananas.  I'm guessing there will already be plenty of protests about the price of the new Sail Barge even without a side build.

Finally purchased the 75355 UCS X-Wing from Argos - which worked out at a fraction below 40% off including cashback.

Initial 25% discount - £157.50

Additional 10% off - £141.75

10% cashback - total price of £127.58!

And it was in perfect collection when I collected it - total bargain at that price!!

Pirate Snub fighter for $3.29

Lego discount from $35 to $21

75% off VIP Point discount- spent a tiny amount of points for an additional $15 off

And then I spent points normally for the last bit- I did it before selecting my ZIP code so it applied tax afterwards, hence why it was $3.29 and not free.

Got Ahsoka's Shuttle for just over $30 usd as a Black Friday deal. It wasn't high on my list of priorities, hence why I hadn't picked it up previously, but at that price I couldn't say no. Gonna have a look at some of the many excellent alt builds out there for this set - got my eyes on a B-Wing build as the cockpit is the perfect size for that ship.

I have a question:

Why is Lego Starwars so popular?

The highlight of the franchise was 1977-1983 with the original trilogy.

I was born in 1979 so I didn't experienced the hype around it.

Are you people older then me?

I just don't get it.

I did grew up with Star Trek: the next generation so I have nostalgia for that.

My dad rented the Original Trilogy from the video store a lot when I was a kid.

I grew up with the Prequel Trilogy in elementary and middle school.

I (mostly) enjoyed going to the Disney films at Christmastime during college and early grad school.

That's why I'm into Star Wars. It's not because I'm old enough to have experienced the Original Trilogy in theaters, it's because I've grown up with all the rest of the franchise.

So you like the Disney trilogy?

Wow, I find it terrible.

It makes the sacrifice of Anakin/Darth Vader compleet obsolete and meaningless.

The story is garbage. Rey makes Yoda a padawan learner with overpowered super sayan powers. They missed the oppurtunity to unite Luke, Leia and Han so we could see them together in at least one movie. Palpatine has returned. Wow, what a good way of story telling. The writers had obvious no idea what they were doing.

While George Lucas clearly had an overall vision and story arc for his 2 trilogies in 1976 already. Saw a documentairy about that.

The only good thing from Disney Starwars is Rogue One I think.

I like TFA and TLJ. I don't like TROS, but after having read the fan-made comic book of the full "Duel of the Fates" script I think DOTF would have been even worse.

Just like TNG, the Disney films (the sequel trilogy and the two others) have good parts and bad parts.

I'd guess a lot of people here including myself grew up with the prequels/clone wars. I think the highlight of the franchise was in the 2000's-early 2010s with the prequels, both clone wars shows, and all the books, games, comics and of course the Lego sets. I think the OT are the best movies but the prequels were still good enough to where they created an entire new generation of Star Wars fans.

"Why do people like star wars'

"I like star wars"

"How dare you like star wars I think it's bad"

Why did you ask people why they like the theme if you're just going to tell them how much you hate it when they tell you why?

Also, while I have plenty of issues with the sequel trilogy, many of the ones you mentioned are also issues with the legends continuity, Lucas's trilogy ideas, and/or just the idea of sequels in general.

Palpatine returns in legends, which "makes Anakin's sacrifice meaningless" (I do agree he shouldn't have returned in a corporeal form, but this isn't some sort of unique disney evil). Rey never even meets Yoda, and while she may learn too fast, she doesn't really display any "overpowered super saiyan powers" or force powers beyond what we saw in the original and prequel trilogies. She, what, moves some rocks? Redirects lightning (with a ton of force ghosts backing her up, I'd point out)? And Lucas's "vision" for his sequel trilogy not only has had the entire concept change (suspicious for a trilogy planned for almost 50 years), but neither concept he's talked about sounds GOOD. One of them had the main villains be Maul back again and Darth Talon (Which doesn't even make sense from a timeline perspective but George has his... attractions), and the other one had them shrinking down ant man style to fight the midichlorians.

I bow to the master. I saw online that it was $40 at Costco locations (And the advent calendar was SEVEN DOLLARS), but by the time I got to a costco, there were no lego sets present.

I didn't say I hate Starwars. I only hate the Disney trilogy.

So, next question. Is your love for Starwars strong enough to buy the €$1000 Deathstar?

Sorry, but what has the love for Star Wars to do with a $1000 Death Star Lego set?

I am just curious who is going to buy it. That's all. And I meant Lego Starwars. I do like the original Starwars. But just not Lego Starwars.

So you like Star Wars but not Lego Star Wars, and you ask why people like Lego Star Wars and buy Lego Star Wars sets.

Simple. Some people like Star Wars and like to buy Lego Star Wars sets.

Why is this even a question?

It's just fascinating that it's so popular given the fact that it's based on a 1977 franchise. I was just wondering why it's still big today. That's all. Because you don't see Lego western anymore. And western movies were once very popular.

It's still big today because they've been making lots of new content and merchandise for most of those forty plus years since the original. That's no mystery.

Picked up a few used sets/parts and one new set.

used

bespin duel, Hoth AT-ST, Skyhopper

parts

Nebulon B (I color swapped the one engine part to save most of the cost)

new

tantive iv starship collection - really surprised at how good this looks in person.  I was concerned about it from the pictures but it really is a lot nicer in person.
