I picked my 10188 Death Star up from lay-by yesterday and i am almost finished the build just one more box to go but i'll save that for tomorrow. I paid $600 AUD which isn't to bad. Only complaint is the outdated mini-figs and build techniques but it is a 2008 set so it's not that big a deal. But its weird because the Han Solo and Ben Kenobi heads have the new heads with white pupils but the rest of the figs have the older less detailed heads. Which is odd because most of the ones with the old prints have had updated face prints, so why TLG didn't switch the old ones with new ones like Han and Kenobi i don't know. Any way now i have to find somewhere to display it, i might even have to make a case for it.

Hm. I hope to get a Death Star soon, and the prospect of recent production runs using updated versions of minifigure parts concerns me. I absolutely don't mind getting the later versions of characters' heads, but I really really want to get the older stormtrooper torsos rather than the new ones.

Grabbed a brand new Rancor Pit without the minifigures for $9.50 off eBay. Spent yesterday morning combining it with my other Rancor Pit so that it now fits much better under Jabba's palace and the gate can open and close.

Bought a used lot of mainly SW Lego. After sorting through it all and selling the sets I didn't want (getting more for them than I paid for the lot), I ended up with the following free sets:

6206 - Tie Interceptor

6208 - B-Wing Fighter

6211 - Imperial Star Destroyer

6212 - X-Wing Fighter

And 5+ kgs of usable parts, in addition to the usual Bionicle/4 Juniors crap.

Some of the sets I sold off were SW PT/CW stuff (I'm pretty much a strict OT guy). I gotta admit I liked some of the sets though, the 7676 Gunship and some of the Jedi Starfighters were pretty nice. The droid sets did nothing for me though.

Some of the minifigs were missing unfortunately, but luckily the more unique ones I didn't have were all there. All in all last week was pretty good, got a Cafe Corner in great shape with just a few pieces missing for EUR 50 too.

A rancor pit for $9.50 is pretty awesome though, living in a small country with ridiculous tax limits has it's drawbacks.

It depends on when the set was actually packaged, which production run you got. Just because you're buying the set now doesn't mean you're buying a set that's been made recently, so even though most of the minifigs might have since been updated, they may not be in the set. You got a set that was made at a time when TLG had already updated Han and Obi-Wan and had run out of their old versions but hadn't yet updated the other minifigs or still had old versions of the other minifigs in stock. This is common in sets with long lifetimes; the '06 X-wing also at the end of its lifetime could have a number of different combinations of minifig and part variants and you couldn't really tell which one you were getting.

Fair enough, i guess i'll just buy updated heads and parts off bricklink which is no big deal. Anyway such an amazing set! Really makes me want to pick up more older sets i missed like 7754, 8038, and 10198 which will cost an arm and lego for MISB but i guess worth it in the end.

8038 is awesome! The 10198 is still available in some of the local shops at the regular price, picked one up earlier this summer. I was looking for a used 7754, but couldn't find one and settled for bricklinking some parts for a couple of the figs.

Just built the new 75003 A-Wing, nice ship! Lot's of stickers though, which I haven't applied.

I really love the new A-Wing pilot, would like to pick up a bunch of these guys. One US seller on Bricklink sells them x20 for a decent price, but that's more than need / more than I can have shipped to Norway due to the ridiculous $30-ish import limit. If anyone would like to split an order send me a PM.

Nice AT AT you bought there!

Thanks, I think its much more superior (design-wise, lots of printed parts) than the 2010 re-issue (8129). But the latter has more minifigs though

After six months working abroad, I return home for some vacations and I have all of this to keep myself entertained with  I started with Rancor Pit, which matches perfectly with the Palace, hope TLG will release some more modules in the future.

I picked up a few of the key chain minifigures lego has on sale. I plan on removing the pin and chain and adding the minifigures to my star was collection.
