Thanks for the review!

It's a real pity. This set could have been so much better, if the problems you have pointed out had been addressed. All male faces are the same? Back in the days of good ol' smiley (:classic:) those kind of things were acceptable. Now, with all the printed faces, I'm afraid it is not. In addition, this set has too much plain torsos for my taste.

Overall, I like the idea of this set, but I don't think that it was carried off in a satisfactory manner. Pity. :cry_sad:

Great review Pandora! Seems like you made mostly the same observations I did when I put mine together (it was in impulse purchase...), you even made the same mistake as me: forgetting to put the cape on the king . And I agree that it's quite expensive for what you're getting, and I really wish they would choose a different default face for the females...

Thanks for the great review Pandora. First time I saw this set I thought whoa, all kinds of diffrent fantasy figures. Then when I started to look more closely on the images of the set, I was quite disppointed with it considering its a bit expensive. And has you and others here said, just one kinds of faces and minifig parts that don`t really go together.

But great review. :classic:

Yep, at half the price this would be a great set.

What is the currently accepted price per minifigs? It seems like TLG made a set of more generic minifigs with a price point of $2 per USD for the purpose of putting them in classrooms. Not collectors hands. This set seems brilliant for that. What we perceive as flaws are intentional. These aren't characters. It is a character building kit for a large group of small children to make up their own stories with or without the teachers help. This is a good education product. Just not as good an AFOL collectors product. ( and $40 USD is dirt cheap for anything intended to be used in a classroom.) Things like all the heads being the same is not a flaw. It is an intentional design element. The set is specifically designed for group play in public. You make as many elements similar to minimize reducing its function when they get lost stolen or eaten. Plus all having the same face minimizes squabbles over pointless specifics.

If you do want one of these grab it fast. They have been reduced for clearence at Lego.com and Lego stores.

These were points I thought I had already made. I did, in fact, highlight the fact that this is an Education set, and that it is used for teaching children, even providing information from, and links to, the Education website.

That it is a set designed with education in mind notwithstanding, this set was on sale in one of my local LEGO brand stores. It is reasonable to assume, therefore, that it may also be available in many other similar stores and that readers here may have the opportunity to buy it. I think I explained that my view is that people find Minifigs desirable, and thus the aim of the review (like any) is to give the reader a good idea of what they may expect were they to buy the same set.

I expect readers here to be viewing the review from a collector/ AFOL point of view, not that of a teacher. I agree that the set is designed very well for education, but my point is that it does not necessarily provide value-for-money for a Minifig collector.
