P4trickvH Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 (edited) I'm making a new color reference file, i found the old one kinda outdated and it was missing some of the new colors, and some colors are no longer in the LDD color pallete. But i'm missing a few colors, for the following colors i can't find the correct Bricklink ColorID in any of the current programs like LDDManager/WantedBricks. I hope some of you can help out. Solid 321 - Dark Azure - (Is in LDD4 - but unidentified) 322 - Medium Azure - (Is in LDD4 - but unidentified) 323 - Aqua - (Is in LDD4 - but unidentified) 324 - Medium Lavender - (Is in LDD4 - but unidentified) 325 - Lavender - (Is in LDD4 - but unidentified) 326 - Spring Yellowish Green - (Is in LDD4 - but unidentified) Metallic 309 - Metalized Silver - (Is in LDD4 - but unidentified) 310 - Metalized Gold - (Is in LDD4 - but unidentified) 315 - Silver Metallic - (Is in LDD4 - but unidentified) 316 - Titanium Metallic - (Is in LDD4 - but unidentified) I hope some of you can help so i can finish the list and post it here for all LDD Builders Edited June 7, 2011 by P4trickvH Quote

It's also been listed as Pearl Dark Gray and Pearl Light Gray, but recently a lot of inventories have been fixed to list it as Flat Silver. Additionally, I ought to point out that I don't think 309 and 310 are "new" versions of Chrome Silver and Chrome Gold, but rather the classic versions that were only recently assigned Material ID numbers. Most chrome parts didn't have Material ID numbers in the past. Superkalle asked me a while back to collaborate on finding LDD-Bricklink color equivalencies for various Bricklink colors that hadn't been identified on LDD, and sent a request to the LDD team to check LEGO's database and find what material ID numbers were listed for several chrome parts. Sure enough, 310 Metalized Gold came up as a result for even older Chrome Gold parts like 43900. In contrast, no material IDs or names not already known came up for parts like 71598. Other than that, perfectly accurate. Of the unreleased colors, we know that Lavender and will be appearing in a set this year (Collectible Minifigures Series 5). No signs of any parts yet in Medium Azure, Spring Yellowish Green, or Medium Lavender. Lastly, I have a question: when you say you found the old color reference file outdated, are you referring to my Complete LEGO Color Chart in the LDD Reference topic, Superkalle's Color Reference file from LDD Manager, or something else? I don't think my own file is missing any colors, although I really ought to put some work into making a spreadsheet that gives some more detail like Bricklink color equivalencies, the timelines in which each color appeared, etc. (I've already started a document like this, but haven't posted it.) That's how I understand it too. A materialID represents just that - a material - and a surface treatment is something different. However if this is true, I guess it's kind of strange that the materialID also can represent a color, like the black rubber in the tyres. Also, one thing that could play in is that the chroming of parts is not done at LEGO (at least used to), but at another company. So maybe because it's not done in-house, TLG never bothered to assign a materialID for it. But this is just my guess. Anyway, theoretically, to fully identify a parts composition and color, I guess four values should ideally be needed: 1) Core material (PC, ABS etc) 2) Core color (red, black, trans-clear etc) 3) optional - Surface treatment type (chromed, drum laquered, speckled etc) 4) optional - surface treatment color (silver, gold, copper) Quote

Were can i find the other 91 missing colors ? They're not available in any of the default palettes, hence the reason this chart is so important. Many of them were available prior to LDD 4.0, and thus could easily be generated in LEGO Universe mode back then (for LDD 4.0, many colors were removed from the default palettes because they made it too easy for people to become confused about which color was which). Others had to be copied and pasted from an LXFML file(a file that can open either with LDD or a text editor) that had been coded for those colors. For instance, by creating an LXFML with a 1x1 red brick, opening that LXFML in Notepad, and changing the Material ID from 21 to 114, you can change that the 1x1 brick's color from 21 Bright Red to 114 Transparent Pink Glitter. This was how most of the colors depicted as bricks (those lacking information on LDD beyond their appearance) were generated. Quote
