Please show us your pictures off your lay-out but also telllus something about it. This is my second layout since childhood (the first one was fours years ago, combining all lego from three different people but sadly all picture seem to be lost :( ). This layout took me five evenings to set-up over the course of four weeks. It's all my childhood lego (except my pirate stuff and small castle stuff). And my sisters gas station and villa. Perhaps we could keep this thread as a non-competition thread, I have a bit more track and crosses and stuff but beause of the size of the room I decided to make a simple layout. I think it has worked out well. I wanted to make the middle part a bit bigger but I don't have enough streetplates. Quote

I did'nt build the wagons. I bought them for the bricks ;-) I just havent gotten around to rebuild them yet :-$ I am focused on the layout for now. Trains and wagons later !! Quote

alex54 Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Well my mother needs to clean the room "damn her" and since I have to study because I have to do some exams again. I won't have the time to rebuilt it. And during the year I live at my student dorm maybe I should built a small track overthere I kwow what you feel about! My mother is the same. But I have to recognize that I can't let my town in the living room when I'm at home (only the holidays). And the rest of the time, I'm without my town in my student room, but I have some LEGOs, I couldn't live without them! :-D Quote

Just a little bit! I am working on getting road plates that match but I've had a rash of bad bricklink orders lately and unfortunately they've all revolved around base plates. I really wish road plates would just stay the same! Anyway, there are some WIPs in there and you can see the settings for Fabuland Housewives in the background on the shelves. Hopefully some time in the next decade it will be presentable... Quote

It's 16ft x 12ft and built to 8mm:1ft scale. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2011009 The Pendolino train tilts using bevel gears in each carriage. Here's the track plan: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2011014 I didn't put the baseplates on but the station is on the right on 48x48 plates and the shed covers the lowest siding at the top of the plan. There is a double track main line, each line having through sidings so trains can be swapped over easily (the public like to see a train moving all the time) This pic shows the power supply (the the left of the gasholder). My aim is to demonstrate that a decent scale model railway can be made from LEGO. I'm now rebuilding the layout as a double decker modular layout (a 5 year project!).
