Hobbes Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I'm slowly adding to my New Block City project. As well as the old part of town which I posted photos of earlier, I'm also going to have an ultra-modern high rise section, and the first model I've completed for this is my Hospital (click on the image for more photos): That sure takes some flying skills from the pilot to land on that roof X-D Looks great! I like the slopes that make the window section wider with every level, that's a great idea *y* It looks a bit cramped, though, with the new City models, but that's the new scale. I like the building, something fresh and new :-) Quote

That ambulance fits perfectly, and so does the landing pad for the helicopter, although that nice heli appears a little large for a city vehicle. And your red window lining/column.... ingenious. And wow. I love that picture of the back corner. It Quote
PaulC Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Thanks guys, and you're dead right! Although the interior is more spacious than any Lego designed hospital (7 regular beds, one operating theatre bed and two doctors offices), the Lego vehicles make my Hospital look tiny. My minimalist style is almost entirely due to my lack of bricks, so I can't make the building any bigger! As much as I love those new vehicles, I think I'll have to redesign the ambulance and the helicopter to make them smaller. Cityfan - although a lot of your pictures are really blurry, I can see some cool details. You have some truly massive buildings there, but as always it's the little details that make them come to life: The cantilevered roof on your station platform, the fire escape on one building, the grey plates between the red bricks on another give it a great downtown feel, and the wanted poster on the green building with the revolving door that's at an angle and peeling off. I love your 6-wide vehicles, particularly the red truck with the yellow & white trailer, the vintage style fire engine and the black and white car with the rear wheels covered (I'm still trying to figure out how you built that!) casewindu Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 this is my italian restaurant! its in my city now and now im making a fire station! :-D Quote
simonwillems Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Some great layouts are displayed here (I love that very well designed hospital!!) and after showing you my city somewhere earlier in this same thread it's time do display my latest layout: a racetrack. I put it together in just half a day (placing all the minifigs in upright direction took up most of the time) but I am statisfied with the very colourful look of it all. This race uses most of my town minifigs (a few hundred I think) and also most of my wide tyres... Feel free to comment. (Images clickable) And the Brickshelf folder Quote

alex54 Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Very nice modern style for your hospital PaulC! The fact that you use some tile in front of the windows gives it a pure and smooth aspect. Simonwillems, your race layout is like in the old LEGO catalogue :'-) Casewindu and Cityfan, can we have some global view of your city please? Quote

I would simply make the hospital one stud bigger on each side so that it looks bigger or simply make a smaller helicopter :) casewindu nice stuff! Quote
