Just a question, how can you build in this chaos of bricks? :-D

Nice buildings however.

Asuka: It's really not that huge at all, it's just a couple of buildings with a tracks running around it. But the whole idea behind this project was to see what I could do with my old bricks, and therefor I had to make som limmit on the town-area.

alex54: Yes, it's really a mess. Some times I use almost twice of the time I build, to find bricks to build with. :-P

Very nice cityfan! I like the way you use grey baseplates rather than roads. Makes it more built-up looking and they look like nice cobblestones. Nice ATM and gate too!

Ok, time to revive this thread once again!

I thought I'd share some pictures of my second town. My first town was built in the 80's, and is currently dismantled and stored on my grandma's attic.

Due to lack of space, this is the first time I've put together all of my post-dark-ages sets. And since our living room is now completely taken over by the town, it'll soon be gone. Typically I only pick up a few sets from my storage either for my relative's kids to play with, or for my own little MOC projects. My girlfriend likes it when I display smaller layouts with a particular theme (construction, trains etc.) on top of our bookshelf, and a bigger town on the floor like this is a rare thing for me, anyway.

But here it is:

It's obvious I could use a little more buildings. So, here's hoping that the Creator line keeps delivering magnificent sets like the Model Town House!

And yes, there's always Lego S@H PaB, BrickLink, Lego Designer, and whatnot, so of course I wouldn't have to rely on Creator, but there's the catch: I have consciously limited myself to normal sets, and the occasional PaB my local toy shops (seldom) provide. Two reasons: 1) To keep the money I spend on this within reasonable limits. ;-) 2) I prefer the "constricted" way of building, that is, having to come up with designs using the bricks you happen to have. That's really the Lego thing for me, and being able to just purchase any brick you like online feels a little bit like cheating... ;-) (Although let me stress that I also admire beautiful creations done it that manner.)

Here's a little something I did quickly with PaB pieces from a local toy store... A building under construction. When I was a teenager, I had summer jobs on construction sites, so this kind of things are fun for me.

The building on the right is a modified version of Building Bonanza, using only pieces from that set, and built according to the "modular building standard".

Nice little layout! Great work with your construction site, it looks really realistic, with a really nice LEGO feeling! And this is the kind of action that I see at least once per week in my job, so I like it a lot *y* !

But such a big crane for such a tiny house..! :-D

I like the rest of the town as well, in fact, I've always planned of doing it that same way, some roadplates, a few ground plates with buildings on it, and cars and MF's to create some scenerey. (this probably sounds like a standard layout but still :-$ (a) )

Ok guys,

Since I moved to my new appartment a month ago, I finallly had time to start working on my lay-out.

Not everything is here yet. (some stuff is still at my parents house). I eventually plan to get it on a table of some sort. the train will not get bigger because otherwise my girlfriend tends to kick everthing :) (not on purpose of course) when she has sleepy eyes in the morning.

Just like Asuka said, because the overload of tracks it will be hard to settle down some houses. It's nice, but to much tracks for a little layout.

I am building up some old sets and trying to think of a new tracklayout (because a simple circle/oval is so... simple).

I see what you guys mean, but you have to realize that I am a trainhead before a townie! So for me trains and their buildings are more important for me then the actual town.

I plan to put three houses in the middle of the railroad, maybe a gas station and some roadplates.

The idea is to make this lay-out complety studded.

I mesured it and its 150cmx200cm that is pretty small I guess.

Made a small train related moc today:

The switchcontroller tower.

Conductor charlie is busy whilst enjoying a nice cup of coffee.

Apologies, I missed this post.

Yes, there is congestion, the Mayor is introducing compulsory execution for all drivers with vehicle registration plates containing odd numbers.

And no, none of the threads has ever broken - I have the large passenger plane hanging from four though, just in case. It seems to be very strong stuff.

I'll be updating the Tabletown website later - the port area has been totally redeveloped.
