Just for the fun, I wish to know how many trains you have?

I don't know the precise count, but for my upcoming train show I remember adding up their lengths. The 14 moving trains add up to 83 feet (there will also be a few stationary trains but they are short so they don't add much to the total).

Not all will be running at the same time, typically I'll have 6 running at the same time (more is possible if I have the time to watch them all) (this is on 4 loops, the loops that have more than 1 running train need to be watched).

The only trains I own are

171 - Train set without motor

182 - Train set with motor

They had very imaginative names for trains in the 70's

4708 - Hogwarts Express

Just ordered

10194 - Emerald Night 10194a.gif

Very excited just got to wait for it to arrive now

D

I've got the following combo of MOCs and sets:

4558 - Metroliner (With the extra club car)

7740 - a 12v classic with an extra carriage MOC'd onto it

7745 - another 12v classic. I actually have two, but combined them into one train with a power car at either end and three carriages. It runs on one motor.

MOCs:

An Irish Rail set, with 2 x 9v motors in it, it's quite a heavey set with a loco and three carriages

A British Rail Class 50 (12v) pulling 3 carriages

A British Rail Class 37 (12v) pulling 6 mixed freight wagons, most of them MOCs but including the wagon from 4549.

A MOC 0-6-0 steam engine (12v) pulling three of these green carriages from TLG.

Sitting unpowered at the moment is my Duchess of Sutherland 4-6-2 steamer and a PF motor.... They might be combined, or I might work on a 2-car DMU from East Midlands Trains that runs through my locality.

I make that 7 working and running on my layout with 1 sitting idle and one very much a WIP...

Andy

I've all 12v trains of the grey area and a some 9v ones too, which you can see here:

12v-logo.jpg_thumb.jpg

In totall it's about 31 trains. I sold 2.

My collection will sound poor, just one MOC'ed engine, the 2006 high speed train and of course, the Emerald Night !

I hope to add 3677 to my collection when it becomes available.

Boy, are you in for a treat :)

Boy, are you in for a treat :)

Agree, but get yourself the relevant PF bits and pieces for it ASAP as it makes the thing so much more enjoyable. I put it off for 6 months but when I finally got them it was worth it!

My train collection still feels a little small, but it is growing!

I have:

2 - Emerald Night. First LEGO train I've bought, and shortly after picked up a second. I modded the second engine slightly to take off the smoke deflectors, as well as a few other minor changes. Have been wanting to try combining the sets into an 8-wide Emerald but haven't found time.

1 - Maersk Train. And boy do I love it. I don't have any dedicated PF equipment for it yet but would love to pick up some, as well as another Maersk or two.

1 - 7938 Passenger Train. Mainly picked it up for the PF and curved track. But it's pretty spiffy.

1 - MOC GWR 5700. First train moc as an AFOL, and although it's probably a little proud to say, it's currently my favorite of my engines. :)

2 - Toy Story Train. Got them on clearance at WalMart, rebuilt the cars into larger, 8-wides for my 5700 and ended up with a plethora of extra train parts from it. Still undecided what to do with the engines, but I'm definitely going to find a use for those red Large drivers.

So the total comes to 7 trains! (If you count the TS Train that is).

Just got my first train for Father's Day. My wife and son bought me the Passenger Train (at Toys R Us and used the 50% off for the Village Raid) :)

I'm officiallly hooked and cannot wait to get more track and space.

Agree, but get yourself the relevant PF bits and pieces for it ASAP as it makes the thing so much more enjoyable. I put it off for 6 months but when I finally got them it was worth it!

That is my plan, but what do I actually need as a minimum to get it moving?

D

That is my plan, but what do I actually need as a minimum to get it moving?

You'll find a detailed explanation in the instructions when you receive your EN :)

I currently only own two trains, the 4561 Railway Express, and the 7939 Cargo Train. My next goals are to get enough track to go around the walls of an average living room, and then I'll probably get an Emerald Night, as I'm partial to steam. :cry_happy: I like the look of the older 12v era trains as well, but they're so expensive *huh* I'll just bricklink some lookalikes eventually...

I can Proudly say over the last week I have gone from a keen window shopper to engine owner proper!!!

I managed to get a 7939 Cargo Train set locally (TrU, last one in stock!), Lego S@H FINALLY delivered my 10194 Emerald Night, which they somehow managed to lose??? And I purchased the 7937 Train Station from Zavvi.co.uk for £23! result.

The Cargo train is a fun set but I have already started to mess with the engine and tweak the freight trucks.... need more freight, but would probably get a good swmbo'd shaped kicking if i start buying the £20 a peice trucks from the set folks are selling on ebay....

I LOVE the Emerald Night.... First time in a long time building with Lego has felt properly involved! Well worth the money but my crikey I really need more carriages! My 3yo needs room for more "passanga"! lol I would love to power the EN, but I really dont fancy having that big motor sticking out the back.... ugly!!

I have purchased a bit more track on ebay, and some random bits n bobs to start moc'ing with , but above is where I am at for the minute... Not bad for a weeks work! =)

I have 9 Trains including the Emerald Night and Maersk Train and Railway express, all the other trains are custom engines. Most of them are diesel (who doesn't love diesel) but I have 1 city and 1 Steam train, nothing to big to handle.

I've been meaning to comment on this topic for the past few weeks.

I'm up to 13 trains now (counting engines but not counting the Toy Story Train and an older HP Express). Suppose I have 15 with the two theme/licensed trains.

What I particularly enjoy seeing in this topic are the images of the 12V and older 9V trains - many that I don't even remember. Looks like some of you have some great collections.

I've been slowly taking down my Train Town over the past several weeks - it just gets so dusty and cluttered. Now I've just got my favorite engines on some shelves:

Only Emerald Night :sceptic:

However I need more track first before I can do anything!

At the moment I only have a loop.

I don't have the biggest collection either, maybe somewhere in the middle:

compiled_train_collection.gif

No MOCs here, some small parts omitted and one wagons has a little different color scheme in one of the incomplete sets, and no rails pictured except for the very rare one.

Ohh, but I like lights very much so each engine has at least one pair on one end! And all are motorized of course including the Hobby Train engine (built on a black RC base from 7898).

Ohh, I forgot: does monorail count too? If so:

compiled_monorail_collection.gif

Edited by AFOLEGODT

I only have four locomotives; 4563, 7939 and two MOC steam locos(one modified from 3225), but I have a vast (it may be more than 60, now) fleet of MOC freight and passenger cars. That does include a handful of color substitutions to TLG designs, but mos of it is purely my own designs. I'd like to share some with yunz if I ever get the chance to take some more pictures.

Though i just started with Lego again in august 2009, i have a decent number of trains:

7897 ICE train (1x)

7898 Cargotrain (1x)

7938 Passengertrain(2x) + 4 extra passengercars

7939 Cargotrain (1x) + 1 extra Yellow Engine (dummy)+ 2 extra octancars + 5 extra red containercars

7939 MOC Red Engine

10194 Emerald Night + 1 extra passengercar

10219 Maersktrain (2x)

8404 Tram

All trains are powered and have rechargeable batteries except for the Emerald Night and the Tram(8404) (..and the second yellow 7939 engine).

So a total of 8 powered trains. The 7938 and 7939 also have PF-lights....

Now i need to adjust my layout a little bit because of the length of the Maersktrains and cars... The track-corners sometimes come too close to buildings or other objects like trees and lamp-posts.....

Today i start preparing the available space for constructing the airport....i will create it like as if the airport is under construction, with cranes and other diggingmaterial around the airstrip! :cry_happy:

Greetz, LegoSjaak

I don't own that many sets:

4512 Cargo train

7939 Cargo train

10020 Santa Fe Super Chief

10205 My Own Train, Large black with tender

10194 Emerald Night

10219 Maersk freight train

Out of those only Emerald Night and Maersk are still built up.

Current MOCs:

NS (Dutch Railways) 6400 cargo diesel (9V)

Baldwin AS-616 diesel (9V)

2x NS Locomotor 'Sik' (no motor)

DB (German Railways) Köf II (Power Functions)

NS Post train (9V) + car

NS MDU 'Plan U' or 'Red Devil', 3 carriages (9V)

BR70 2-4-0 Steam engine (tank engine, no motor)

BR23 2-6-2 Steam engine with tender (no motor)

BR65 2-8-4 Steam engine (tank engine, PF)

Amsterdam tram (9V)

2 gondolas

2 hoppers

A simple question with a lot of answers!

Some of you have a huge collection of trains.

I'm just a beginner and my collection is tiny...

My tiny collection of one Emerald Night grew quite a bit in the last 18 Months.

4558.gif

Metro Liner, added PF (LiPo, IR, LED) and RC (Motor)

My third train, and second 9V train I bought.

4559_MODa.gif

Cargo Railway, added PF (LiPo, IR), RC (Motor) and 9V (Light)

My favorite train made by TLG to date. Just love it's design.

4559_MODb.gif

Cargo Railway, now with more cargo, created new Cargo Pods, in 8 and 16 lengths.

That's why I added to the theme, and all my rolling stock is compatible with those pods ;)

7938_MODa.gif

7938_MODa.gif

2010 Passenger Train, added additional carriages and a second PF motor with an additional set (each), also replaced Battery Pack with LiPo and added PF Lights.

At first I didn't really like the design, but it grew on me.

7938_MODb.gif

2010 Passenger Train, standard enhancement with LiPo and PF Lights, also one 'automatic coupling' for double heading.

But with lot's of those little buggers cruising around, it really looks good.

7939_CONST.gif

2010 Cargo Train, with two sets some nice double heading and standard enhancement for the leading engine (LiPo, LEDs, 2nd Motor), 2nd engine is only a dummy.

Nice little engine, also the cranes came in handy.

10194_CONST.gif

Emerald Night with two additional carriages, makes for a very nice looking train.

Real nice train here, sadly, it doesn't really fit my structure gauge.

10219_CONST.gif

Maersk Train, standard double heading with 6 carriages. Standard PF Enhancement (LiPo, LED, 2nd Motor), trailing engine is of course a dummy, and added some cargo pods.

My longest train cruising around my layout. Looks great, passing stations with slow speed.

NO BITMAP IMAGE

DPZ Double-decker push-pull train, Standard PF Enhancement (LiPo, LED, 2nd Motor), my 1st MOC.
