juzo Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Hi all, New here, and love the site! So far i have 2 emerald nights, one with 3 cars. I have the yellow freighter and also the maersk train which is pulling 5 trailers. Concentrating now on some buildings for my layout atm. Quote
Iarnrod Raille Liath Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I am also new to this site, though I have had LEGO 12 volt trains for more years than I care to remember. My first LEGO was 7710 which I still have. I also have 7745 InterCity train, 7813 Shell wagon and 7823 container wagon. In 1992 I bought loco 7755 for about IR£13 while in 1995 I came across 7760 in a local toyshop in Dublin and bought it for IR£20. I bought set 4541 in Vienna, Austria. In the past couple of years I have bought four wheel carriage 7818 and mail van 7819. While I have the aspiration of acquiring and building more stock and infrastructure, my main interest is keeping my 12 volt grey rail system going. When I consider the diabolical pancake motors in Hornby and Lima locos in the 1980s, the LEGO trains were quite reliable giving stalwart service. I would like to build a 12 volt Irish 071 class loco. Welcome to EB Iarnrod Raille Liath. I'm guessing from your name and post you're Irish...? Have you found brick.ie yet? There are some good Irish trains on there, including an 071 by Dfenz. JamesP Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 You can't have to many trains! Can you? Yes. You can have too many trains. that's when they occupy every @#$@#@ space in the area they are supposed to, and then start migrating to places they are not supposed to live in. I have the passenger station FULL, and the storage yard fairly close to full, and a train on each loop, and a full container train in the port and wagons shunted into sidings, and...well, lets put it this way, even with all my track, I have lots of trains. The Blue Brick Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I sadly own two, if only I had more space. Maersk and Metroliner Quote
Pastajensen Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 (edited) Just started my collection, got the Maersk train today and waiting for the Yellow cargo train (129€ at Amazon.de, I found it to be a good deal). There will be more, might get hold of some of the older sets, time will show. Edited April 20, 2012 by Plauge Quote
kungpo Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I'm new on here, but been collecting trains for a while now (the 7740 was my first train which I got as a child). Restarted with trains when I saw a 4511 in the shops when it was current, then got the Metroliner as the Lego Legend set (10001). Just started collecting up all the 12V stuff in addition to the 9V. The 181 is a nod to my wife who had one of those as a child. So far: 1x 181 Lego System Train 1x 7740 Intercity Train 2x 7745 High Seeed Express 2x 4558 Metroliner 1x 10001 Metroliner 1x 4563 Load'n'haul 2x 4561 Railway Express 1x 4564 Freight Rail Runner 2x 4559 Cargo Railway 2x 4511 High Speed Train 1x 4551 Crocodile 3x 10194 Emerald Night 3x 10219 Maersk Train 3x 7897 Passenger Train 3x 7938 Passenger Train 1x 7939 Cargo Train 1x 3677 Red Cargo Train Multiple sets are usually a consequence of wanting either lots of extra carriages, or to make up a complete set. If I only had the space to have them all on display at the same time that would be something. Loads of other 9V train related bits but that's another story! Quote
Gioppa Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Next Firt of june i change home, from apartament to a single house in the country, and finally i can have my Lego room. I'm lucky because i have find someone who sell to me all the train and rolling stock of 12v(i miss only the 7750,if somebody have one and want to sell give me a pm) So,i have a lot of train, when i have the time i count it! MetroiD Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 I currently own the following trains: ATSF Super Chief BNSF GP-38 Emerald Night Hogwarts Express I've kept the first three intact and am planning on running them all for a long time to come. The last one I bought just for its 9V motor and the decent amount of train-specific parts. The next train set I'll buy will be the Maersk Train, after which I'd like to ensure proper motorization with rechargeable PF batteries for the EN and the MT. I am also currently in the process of slowly procuring the vast amount of bricks required to build a sufficient number of Santa Fe cars; a couple more EN cars, as well as cargo cars for the BNSF GP-38. Other than that, I might also get the Metroliner at some point in the future. I also own a Monorail set, but I haven't put together the original Airport Shuttle since I'm not too keen on its appearance. Instead, I've already got a bunch of MOCs lined up, including but not limited to: a monorail train based on a subway train; two 9V trams; one DMU, one diesel shunter and one steam train. That should give me 3 passenger trains (Santa Fe, EN and a DMU), 3 freight trains (BNSF, 1 shunter, 1 steamer); 3 public transportation trains (monorail / subway + 2 trams). Based on my calculation, that leaves me with space for one more PF MOC (fourth channel on the IR controller ), and I'd rather keep that option open until I'm done with all of the other stuff I've planned to build. Besides, I think that once I'm done with all these, I'll probably start limiting myself as to what Train sets I'll be buying the future. That said, I definitely can't imagine missing out on any Exclusive Train set... Quote
bonczyk85 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Hi, I've been collecting trains for almost a year now, as I never had any as a child. I currently own the following 9V sets: 1 x 2126 Train Cars 1 x 4536 Blue Hopper Car 2 x 4549 Container Double Stack 1 x 4552 Cargo Crane 2 x 4559 Cargo Railway 1 x 4563 Load and Haul Railroad 1 x 4564 Freight Rail Runner 2 x 4565 Freight and Crane Railway 1 x 10001 Metroliner 1 x 10002 Railroad Club Car 1 x 4532 Manual Lever Crossing 1 x 7835 Road Crossing (that is 4,5/12V actually, but on my current layout I changed rails for 9V) This gives me 2 long passenger trains (double 4559 and Metroliner with Club Car), 4 cargo locomotives and 21 cargo wagons. Oh, I've almost forgotten - 1 x 6399 Airport Shuttle with some additional track. Quote

That's really incredible... good for you! I need to move from my current house to a larger house. My current house is a good size, but with kids and dogs and everything, I have no decent place to dedicate to LEGO. Good luck finding the 7750. Quote
