Redimus Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Official Lego (all modified to some extent): - Full Horizon Express train (2 sets) modified to be fully articulated and powered at both ends (but controlled from only the front). - Yellow freight train set, plus everything again but the track and the loco, although most of the second lot have been dismantled, as have both container wagons, and the containers have been spliced to form Maersk scaled containers. - Maersk set plus 2 black and red versions of the wagons, 2 custom containers and a load of makeshift containers (see above). Custom: - Blue generic 2-6-0 steam engine, modified several times over. Probably going to make it a 4-4-0 as the current wheel arrangement looks *very* toylike when compared to my other loco MOC. - Southern Railway Q Class 0-6-0 (7 wide) (see the sig). - 2x Mk0.5 (generic sort of but not really Mk1 coaches, 6 wide and very toy like, Standard Brake and 1st/Buffet). - Pullman coach (torn between building a couple more (including a break end) or redesigning them to be a little longer, and 7 wide to go with my new preferred standard). - 2x generic tankers on bogies, modified from 4 wheeler tankers bought from ebay, I have no idea if they were customs or actual Lego designs). The build list: - Generic Southern Railway Brakevan (7 wide). Well on the way to completion. - Generic '4 plank' open wagon. Bits ordered (7 wide). - Generic van, cattle van, steam era tanker wagon, '2 plank' open (all 7 wide). Designed, waiting on the completion of the open wagon to make sure there's no problems with the chassis. Quote
Feuer Zug Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I started collecting LEGO trains only a few years ago. They have often lost out to other sets when considering what to buy, but I am working on a couple of MOCs (2 diesel, electric, and 1 steam) that will hopefully build up my collection. Minifig Scale 3677 - Red Cargo Train 9467 - The Ghost Train (Modded into an American 4-4-0) 10194 - Emerald Night (PF modded) Micro Scale 31015 - Emerald Express 40028 - Mini Hogwart's Express (Closest I got to getting one) 40034 - Christmas Train Accessories and track 7499 - Flexible and Straight Track 7895 - Switching Tracks (2x) 7936 - Level Crossing 8870, 8871, 8879, 8882 (3x), 8883 (4x), 8884, 88000 (a few), and 88002 I also have a train station I build, a signal tower, and a few odds and ends sets to expand my layout that aren't quite train related. And if it counts, 79110 - Silver Mine Shootout Quote
Mestari Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) This is embarrassing ;) but I only have the Lone Ranger set, that I grabbed on sale... I do like trains though very much. It's just hard to buy them with virtually no space and with them being so expensive. And then you have to explain that to your wife ;) So... Just one unpowered train. Scheemdalegotrain Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Since I was bitten by the train bug two years ago, I have collected the following trains, all RC/PF: assembled: - the 7938 red passenger train; - the 7939 yellow cargo train; - the 3677 red cargo train; - the 60051 ICE passenger train; - the 60052 blue cargo train. Still to be assembled: - another 7938 red passenger train; - the 7997ICE passenger train; - the 7998 green cargo train. Quote
fred67 Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 This is embarrassing ;) but I only have the Lone Ranger set, that I grabbed on sale... I do like trains though very much. It's just hard to buy them with virtually no space and with them being so expensive. And then you have to explain that to your wife ;) So... Just one unpowered train. I'm going to go out on a limb, here; among all "official" LEGO trains, I like the The Constitution from The Lone Ranger the best. Yes, even better than the Emerald Night, as far as appearance goes. I did modify it - I took the old (MOT) caboose and replaced the red with the dark green, and made the accent color brown instead of yellow, and used smooth slopes on top instead of the straight ones, so it really matches the rest of the train well. I also removed the "play" feature from the cargo car and fixed that part of the roof to match. IMO, it's the best "classic" style steam engine TLG has ever released. The EN is awesome, of course, in all it's grandeur... but the Constitution just looks like a more classic old-timey steam engine. I haven't motorized it yet (although I did motorize the Toy Story train just for kicks a couple of years ago). My updated list (engines/sets only) 3470: Small Locomotive, x3 4561: Railway Express, x2 10020: Santa Fe Super Chief (not limited) 10133: BNSF 4708: Hogwarts Express (2001) x2 4841: Hogwarts Express (2010) 10157: High Speed Locomotive x2 10194: Emerald Night x3 (one modded to Ruby) 10219: Maersk 10233: Horizon Express 7597: Toy Story Western Train Chase 9711: Lone Ranger Constitution Train Chase Micro: 4837: Mini Trains (not official - I built a couple in various colors with my own bricks). 31015: Emerald Express, x2 40028: Mini Hogwarts Express, x2 Quote
dr_spock Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Shoot, I forgot 60052 Cargo Train on my previous list. This is embarrassing ;) but I only have the Lone Ranger set, that I grabbed on sale... I do like trains though very much. It's just hard to buy them with virtually no space and with them being so expensive. And then you have to explain that to your wife ;) So... Just one unpowered train. Don't worry. For 30 years I had only the 7710 Push Train. I didn't buy another train until Horizon Express came out. I bought the Lone Ranger set on sale too. I liked the engine but ended up parting it for MOCs. brickbuilder711 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 A lot... but I guess the best way to quantify is how many built trains I have on hand, LOL.... 3 CSX locos, 2 FEC locos, 6 hoppers for rock train service, some Intermodal, and some manifest. Quote
snowvictim Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Well, so I did revive my train collection somewhat... Some trains are still incomplete, but at least they're mostly assembled. This is a quick snapshot. As you can see I've got the 4511 High-Speed Train, the 60052 Cargo Train, the 7939 Cargo Train Loco (wagons still unassembled), my custom Red Engine, the 7938 Passenger Train, and a complete 10233 Horizon Express. 4512 on order from BrickLink, currently shipped. Also, I've finally got the bucks for selling my 10179 Millenium Falcon so I'm ordering the BNSF engine, the Santa Fe Super Chief, the Red Cargo Train, another 4511, and probably one or two 10158 Train Cars depending on how much money I have left. Right now it's running a small oval. I was lucky enough to get my hands on 117 9V rails for $70 from some guy in the countryside. I guess they don't know the value of that stuff over there. But the small track for the 4511 isn't because of a lack of rails, it's because of a lack of space. I'll be relocating my railway to the attic soon where I'll have an enormous amount of space. Then there's the 60052 Cargo Train. Got this one yesterday. In my opinion it's much better than the 7939 Cargo Train to the left of it. The 7939 is still incomplete, ordered the doors to the storage hold from BrickLink along with some of the roof parts. I got the stickers though, so that's good. This is my custom Red Engine. It's nothing fancy but I like it. I haven't got any 9V switch tracks yet so it's just standing on the RC track waiting for that BrickLink order to arrive. Front wheels need some rework though. Also, the City Windscreen on the other side is transparent. Got a red one ordered already. Emerald Night rebuilt just today. Stayed up till 5am redoing this badboy. My sister has a little dog that has a very bad habbit of going to the toilet in the house. Well, you kind of get why I had to make a rebuild. Disassembled it, washed the parts, dried them and the reassembled the finest Lego model (in my opinion). As you can see there's still some parts that need to be added or replaced, but at least it's in working condition. Car. Still missing some elements from the roof and the hull. Got those ordered too. There's currently nothing inside as I haven't decided whether I want this to be a sleeping car or a passenger car. I'll definitely make more of these. Unfortunately I'll also have to invest in a XL motor, the M motor isn't doing full speed with this empty car. This is a custom train station I've made. Nothing amazing, but it does the trick well. There's Dracula in the top right corner, but you can only see his legs and cape. Passenger Train, also rebuilt very recently. I'll need to buy an IR receiver and a train motor for this guy, took them out to power up my double Horizon Express. Right now he's just sitting on the track waiting for the power functions. As you can see the engine is missing a few parts, but I have these lying around somewhere so I won't have to order them. There's my double Horizon Express on the outer track. I alternate between the Horizon Express and the Emerald Night on the outer tracks, but the passenger rail is connected with the cargo rail anyway so I can pretty much put any train on all the tracks (except the 9V rails as the switch tracks haven't arrived yet). Well, I'll get an update done once the BNSF, Santa Fe Super Chief and Green Cargo Train arrive. I'm off to the mall now to get some more track and start the relocation to the attic. Quote
branio Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Hello. Up to today I've been an occasional reader of the forum. Just (finally) created an account. I love the trains and love the lego, so why not to have both combined :D With my sons (6 and 3y old), we build tracks, just recently we did some experiments with bridges and tracks going up and down. Our collection up to this day is as follows: 7938: Passenger Train (+1 extra middle wagon) 7939: Cargo Train 10219: Maersk Train 60052: Cargo Train 10194: Emerald Night Built from bricks obtained through bricklink: 10016: Tanker (2x) 10017: Hopper Wagon And a lot of tracks (PF)... Henrik Ludvigsen Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I have stopped counting.... I have more than 130 different trains and stations. It is from the very start with the 4.5 blue era, 12 volt, 9 volt, RC-train to PF-train. Many of Them are double, some in MISB and so on. My collections also include different kinds of track in many colours including blue, Grey, Black, yellow, red, maersk blue, transparent and some more. Most of Them are prototypes..... Or test run from the moulds. According to BL the weight of the collection is 1.300 kilos.... That is a lot. There is pictures here (at the bottom....) I Think i have 95% of all the train related sets.... Henrik Quote

AgentRick Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Seems like everyone's got the Maersk train. It's a really pretty model. Hard to choose between Maersk or BNSF/Santa Fe Super Chief... I actually prefer the BNSF SD38 to the Maersk train, which is one of the reasons why I didn't pick it up while it was out. I just prefer the combination of Dark Green on Orange moreso than the combination of Maersk Blue on Black (Not that Maersk Blue isn't a nice color, it's just that Dark Green is probably my favorite brick color). I still kinda regret not getting one now that they're in the $300 range online. Quote
wondermonkey Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I actually just finished Bricklinking a BNSF engine... I brick built a base, used the orange windows from the arctic sets and found a decent deal on the train wheels (light gray instead of light bluish gray). In all I spent less than $80, oh plus stickers from ministickers.nl, which I highly recommend using. I did mod it a little to my liking after building by instructions. I love my Maersk, but yeah, the BNSF might be nicer to look at... Maybe it's just the satisfaction of tracking all the pieces down, I'm not sure. I'll have to get all my locomotives together, I'm not even sure how many I have. Quote

That is a lot .......... The tracks has been used for a Guinness World record. Henrik Quote
