Same here, but did you got the letter whit those coins? They said to me at they would sent me more of those in a week, wich is Tuesday 5th of July.

I hope they send me more, and if not, i just have to Email them again.

Captain Becker

This is the same situation I have. The initial shipment was two sets of old sprues - I emailed and specified I wanted the replacement pack and one set came a couple weeks later with a letter included that stated I would receive more replacement packs in a week or ten days.

those new coins look a bit different from the "old" ones don't they? i remember those old ones, you had to cut/break them from a bigger coin, it looked a bit like a Super Mario coin to me at the time... the picture above looks like they still use the older version, thats cool! :D

In that photo were the OLD gold coins that were incorrectly sent with pearl-gold jumper bricks as 'replacement parts' to that member.

In that set, if you check the parts listing at the back of the instructions, should be two 'packs' of gold...so, eight coins and two gold bars...though most members report getting ten coins in that set, myself included.

I did receive a letter, but no indication on their part that they would be following up with the rest of the parts.

My 'chromed gold' was sent June 13 and after being caught in the Canada Post rotating strikes and lock-out, I finally received both replacement packs on July 5.

I have to say, it makes the 'pearl gold' look soooooooooo lame! :pir_laugh2:

I'm guessing I can only get these replacement parts if I call lego, right? I sent them an email for the proper parts twice, only to get nothing in return. :pir-hmpf_bad:

I used the replacement parts form, and received a single pack of 4 gold coins and 1 gold bar in the mail after about three weeks. I wrote back to them regarding the remaining "broken" gold coins and bars, and will hopefully receive a few more in a while. (I haven't received a reply on my follow-up mail yet.)

I filled out the missing parts form online. As the coins weren't listed, I wrote in the description box the location number and description of the prepack coins, and explicitly said I needed 3 packs. I got them all in the mail today, 2 weeks earlier than promised. :pir-classic:

The Customer Service monkeys are pretty brain dead - I told them specifically I had an issue with 8 gold coins and 3 gold bars included in my Isle de Meurta set and they sent me only 1 set of 4 coins and a single gold bar. *sigh*

Just want to say thanks for those who brought up this topic, I got the dull gold and straight away wanted the shinny gold like the old set, anyway I contacted Customer Services who got in touch a few days later they apologized and were waiting on the gold to come from the factory all it all had to wait 3 weeks for my replacement gold and was well happy.

Okay! Thanks for telling me. I'll have to give it another shot!

Three times the charm after all.

I also finally received the proper gold coins and bars after first having received the old style coins.

It did take another parts request, but I specified exactly what I wanted: 4 packets of the coins/bar, along with the item number. And that's exactly what I received, about two weeks after sending my second e-mail to S@H.

Same story with me.

I also replied to the email I received from the LEGO customer service representative to ask for the missing bits, but didn't get a reply back yet, so I filled in another online form yesterday requesting two more prepacks.

Hmm. I had been procrastinating/busy for a while. I finally got around to doing an online missing parts form. They don't list the coins or bars for any of the POTC sets, so I wrote in the box that I got pearl coins and bars and wanted chrome instead. Perhaps I should have mentioned this thread or something. I got the following email today, basically saying they're sending pearl gold instead of the chrome.

Can anyone advise? Wasn't there some number or identifier you could give them? Sorry, I can't find the details in this thread. I just assumed they would know about this at this point. I guess it's a small minority of us that write in to them about this.

Dear XXXX,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

Our construction toys are designed to provide endless hours of fun, and I'm so sorry you experienced an issue with your LEGO® piece(s). We are more than happy to send some replacement(s) for your gold coins and bars absolutely free! Your new parts is on its way from our warehouse in Denmark and should arrive in 7 to 10 business days.

I just wanted to mention that the description we have for the gold items in these sets are that the colour is 'warm gold' - they are not chrome. As you mentioned a pearl gold I have requested these warm gold pieces however they may be the same as the ones you have. In this case, we will not be able to send you a chrome version as those pieces are not included in the sets you mentioned.

We try really hard to make sure all LEGO toys are perfect, but sometimes a faulty one sneaks through. Actually - controlling the quality of the toys that leave our factory is a big job (about seven LEGO sets are sold every second!) and we spend a long time trying to get it right. We have a whole department of experts (and machines) who test every LEGO set before it leaves us - they even weigh every box to make sure there's nothing missing.

We'd like to get even better at catching any faulty LEGO sets though, so I'm passing your comments onto the team in charge of testing. It'll help them make sure this doesn't happen again.

Happy building!

XXXX YYYY

Alright I combed through this thread (twice) and found the info I was thinking of.

Link

You can call Shop@Home Customer Service (800-835-4386) and re-request the corrected parts. You should verify that you are getting prepack 4631481, and not element 70501.

I guess that's two gold bars and 4 coins? I think I needed 4 bars and 12 coins (3 sprues) total. I'll try emailing back with that link and see what happens. Otherwise I'll call customer service some time.

The name TLG uses for chrome gold is 310 Metalized Gold. So if you specify that this is the color you expected them to be in, they may have a better idea what you're looking for.

Based on this post, the element ID for the new gold coins and ingots-- that being the seven-digit number that specifies part, mold, and decoration all at once, is 4631481. If you specify that, you should definitely get the correct coins. If anything, it will at least prevent them sending the wrong parts as they have done for other people, as there is no room for confusion unless they read the number wrong.

I have both and much prefer the pearl. If anyone wants to trade, I have 10 baggies of the chrome gold I would swap for pearl gold.

But... aren't those pearl gold coins dirt cheap on Bricklink, like practically free?

I'm so happy that I got true chrome coins in my London Escape straightaway, so I didn't have to bother with customer service. :pir-sweet: I still think the old chrome coins are the best ones around as the new coins have little too faint numbers, but they're nice to be around for variety. On the other hand personally I can't see much good in the pearl gold coins, if not the ability to amass big amounts of them due to their cheap price.

I had the same issue and received my chrome gold coins about a week after I did the online part replacement. I stated the set name and that it did not come with chrome gold coins but of a pearl gold color and that others have had the same issue. They sent me an email saying they were sending out the replacement part and I received the chrome gold. I didn't send any part numbers other than the set number. They seemed to know what was up.

I can see one advantage the pearl gold ones might have. They are very good if you have other pearl gold treasure in a MOC and you want all the gold pieces to match. Truth be told there are many excellent pearl gold pieces (the treasure chest, jumper plates, 1x1 plates with clips, etc) that simply don't exist in chrome gold. And it always bothers me when gold parts don't match in a model-- the Golden King in this year's City of Atlantis set is a particularly egregious example, with three different colors of gold (pearl gold body parts, the same lacquered gold as the Collectible Minifigures for his helmet, and black armor with a Metallic Gold-looking mottled surface treatment for his armor).

Some people also think that the pearl gold coins are unrealistically shiny, which to an extent is true. Even when a coin is shiny and new, it's not necessarily shiny enough to see your reflection in it. And coins being that shiny and new isn't all that realistic itself, except perhaps if they're used in a bank vault of some kind. So it makes sense that some people would rather reserve "chrome" elements for things that are chromed or chrome-looking in real life.

Now, this doesn't mean I'm defending the pearl gold coins that actually appeared in sets, because given the ugly injection points and other molding marks on them and the gold ingots, it seems clear to me that the mold was designed to be used in chrome colors and then for whatever reason (cost is a likely one), TLG decided to put pearl gold ones in the sets. I'm glad that ones containing the chrome gold ones pictured on the boxes finally surfaced in some places, because for me it shows that TLG recognized that decision was a mistake.

I got a very nice email after giving them the part pack number. They even told me why they were pearl to begin with in those sets. They're sending me a bunch of chrome coins. Thanks everyone.
