4,300 is an estimate. Maybe it has a little bit less parts. To know the right part number, I would have to pull apart the MOC. So, we will never know... When you do a big model. On Mashal_banana and Cavegod Sandcrawler, they say about 10,000 parts. In reality, it may be 9,200, but it is may be also 11,000.

That said, it is true that there nearly only very tiny (and so cheap) parts on my Executor.

I remember that Jens Kronvold Frederiksen, the (former ?) Lego Star Wars design manager, said that the weight of a model is a very good indicator to estimate the price of the model.

One day, I should weight my Executor, and compare it to this 10221.

Moreover, it would be very interesting too to calculate the price/grams (PPG) for each model, and not only the PPP (price per part).

I would not be surprised if my Executor and the 10221 had a similar PPG.

Thank you

That's what I've been preaching for years.

The thing that interests me the most about this set is the little 1x1 round brick with the emperor printed on it. And I'm certainly not going to drop $400 on a set, just for that...

It looks cool, but its not for me. I'd much rather have the Death Star.

Steve

i would have to agree. it looks cool, but as such, it's just a massive parts pack with not all that many interesting or even rare parts.

With the first pic several weeks ago, something immediatly caught my eye.

Ok, the bottom wings are flat. But this implied that the structure (or the frame, call it whatever you want) was wider than necessary for the upper wings. So, I assumed a (big) gap was necessary between the 2 wings, to remedy the fact that the structure was too wide.

Finally, here is the gap : http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5272/5843426859_393aa01863_o.jpg

The gap is 9 or 10 millimeters wide...

Yikes. Good find Anio. I really hope someone will be able to mod that out...

It is $400 USD. The $500 price is for Canada.

Yay for us default_hmpfbad.gif

I never realised USCs were so expensive- I was looking forward to this being my first until I saw the price tag.

I can´t help but notice that with each new highly anticipated model TLG comes up with, I am more and more underwhelmed. The Pet Shop already wasn´t as cool as expected when compared to the other modular houses and their unique building techniques, but at least there the price/parts ratio was okay. The POTC sets, while good looking, are ridiculously overpriced and now this beast which no ordinary Lego collector will be able to properly display in his household is rather overpriced as well, with what seems to be a totally boring parts palette. So this set seems like an easy pass for a parts pack and I guess a rather easy pass for SW collectors as well. The only thing I like about this set are the minifigs. Especially IG-88´s printed "face", Bossk, Dengar and the Palpatine-Hologram.

jawas i want jawas!!

I will swap my Jawas for your Sandcrawler.

Anyway, it seems BenBrick1234's locked topic links to Hoth Bricks where they highlight a typo on the UCS sticker. 'turoblaser' did anybody here spot that? Sorry If I've missed something and this has already been pointed out.

You can never have too much jawas

I like the model. It's outstanding. Even with gab and ridiculous interior. But the pricing is on the dark side. And somehow I'm not the biggest fan of the Super Star Destroyer anyway. I'm still waiting for the UCS Venator :sweet:

Actually this typo has been found by a forum member on HFR, I credit him in my post on Hoth Bricks.

I just made a clear view of this really stupid mistake from LEGO, showing that the mistake was not only done on the press kit images, but was also present on Brickworld displayed 10221 model.

Lego should take $50 off the set for that mistake. :)

Wow that Super Star Destroyer is huge, I love it (not paying attention to the gap), the interior is a bit out of place in this model as it is not to minifigure scale, but what can you expect. The price is an absolute bummer but I understand it. As for the size; no room to display, it's just to big.

A little unsure what to think of the minifigures. I like the new IG-88, but is his head printed or stickered? If the only difference between Piett and the ol'Tarkin the new face it's a little disappointing. But I love the new Dengar, much more realistic than the old one. I kinda miss Zuckuss and would have love to see him.

Still big compliments to Anio for the original, TLC took a good look at yours.

I'm willing to forgive the inaccuracies on this, it's still a really nice model. It's mega expensive though; LEGO should have included the full line up of bounty hunters and - bloody hell! - used printed elements all the way. That said, I'll be looking for ways/means to get this cheaper, otherwise it's unlikely to become part of my collection.

Moreover, it would be very interesting too to calculate the price/grams (PPG) for each model, and not only the PPP (price per part).

I would not be surprised if my Executor and the 10221 had a similar PPG.

I'd also love to see that comparison. After close examintaion I'm inclined to think yours would be slightly heavier. In fact, seeing as LEGO's version weighs just under 8 pounds (3.5kg), is it possible for you to weigh yours?

Oh ok. Then that changes everything. For some reason $500 is too much. but at $400 I can justify it then haha. I will have this.

Done.

My scale is very old. It is not a digital scale, so, it is not 100% accurate. But that's all I have.

I weighed my Executor : 3710 grams

To compare, I weighed the 10030 : 5060 grams.

So, if someone has an accurate scale and is able to reweigh the 10030, we can see how accurate is my scale. If it is not accurate, with a rule of three we should be able to correct the weight of my Executor.

It is not bad but pricey at $500 CAD, considering 1 Canadian dollar is worth more than 1 USA dollar. I wonder how much of the price is the license with Lucas?
