I've never ordered from them either but I put mine in Friday morning (had to confirm it because of the order size later that morning) and it shipped from TN that night and according to the tracking information it's already in LA (just down the road in N.O.). I suspect it might be delivered Monday but it's scheduled to be delivered in Tuesday. I did get the 2-3 day shipping so it's looking good.

I almost pulled the trigger on one tonight. My somewhat local Lego Store had two on the shelve. I think I will wait until double VIP points before I get this one though.

Well, I just finished building mine and thought that I should make some subjective comments.

The ship looks far better in real life than any photos that I’ve seen, and it’s almost elegant. It’s very stable and the internal frame has been well designed. All of the sections lock together nicely and the engines, in particular, look beautiful

I was surprised how colourful the interior is; lots of red, yellow & blue (!) but most of this disappears when the final plates are added. Actually the use of colour was very clever as it provided helpful reference points. It was nice to build but perhaps next time I’ll put all of the bricks in a large pile to make it more of a challenge; the numbered bags almost made it a bit too straightforward (but I’ll admit that I’m a bit strange like that! )

Yes, the bottom part is flat and in an ideal world Lego would have done something to make it a little more interesting, but this is similar to the original model. Other community members have made valid points about the greebling, and I can see why. It creates a nice effect, but I think that this would have been improved if they had used a greater variety of parts including light grey round studs, and possibly a few translucent 1x1 plates.

Is it impressive? Yes. Is it expensive? Yes. Would I recommend it? Well, if you’re a UCS fan and can stomach the cost I would say yes, otherwise it might be worth waiting for a sale!

That's a great plan, wishing I had the patience to hold off till October myself...but I caved.

No regrets by any stretch, however, as the ship is something to behold when it's finally on display. I would have preferred to build one years ago from my own collection, but alas, my parts supply wasn't (and still isn't) nearly extensive enough. I had a blast with this one...I opted for a speedier build by assembling all the mirrored sections concurrently. Amazing how much faster you cruise through the instructions when you don't have to repeat for the opposite side all the time! I also tried skipping around, building all the perimeter and cityscape detail parts first, then staging them for an assembly line style order.

Anyway, depsite the flat bottom, I'm still blown away by this set, and urge the undecided to make the leap - I'm betting you'll be happy you did, especially this October.

Had to add this to the collection, overall I like it but have to be honest Flat bottomed girls don't make the rockin' world go round, well for me anyway.
