Hrw-Amen Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Here is my second large Mini-fig scale MOC. This is a cafe that I made so all the hard working Minifigs can have a break and a cup of tea or coffee along with a displeased-ant. It took me quite a while and a good few Bricklink orders as I did not have that many Tan and Brown bricks to start with. However I wanted to make it in this colour as it kind of looked more coffe shop like and possibly a little more 'real world.' I have to say that I am particulary pleased with being able to squeeze in a disabled toilet on the ground floor. Note the fold down handrail on the side. All to often I have been in cafe's around the world without this facility and when you have mobility issues having to go upstairs to the loo can be awkward to say the least. Also I liked the fire escape at the back from the first floor. I wanted to make the building have the same overall footprint as my house so they would sit side by side so it is on a 32 X 32 base, but seeing other people's MOCs with outside features I also wanted to put something in. I am thinking about adding a BBQ on the roof patio at some point if I can come up with a good concept for one. I have left a couple of 1 X 1 studs on one section so that I can stand some minifigs up there without them falling over if I want to. Staff wise there are four waitresses all in the same outfits and one chef. I used the series three lifeguard torso with red/black legs for the waitresses as I wanted a kind of sexy look to them. Anyway, here is the link. Let me know what you think. Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 AWESOME modular 'Hrw-Amen', clever custom waitresses...I like it ! The apartment is fantastic, man that is one big bath and one big bed.....some of the girls must spend nights there eh ? Keep up the cool work and Brick On 'Hrw-Amen' ! Quote
Adrian86 Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 That´s a great MOC! The interior is really good looking. I love the combination of the cafe and the apartment, well done! Quote
Zorbas Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Very nice work Hrw-Amen, the interior looks indeed beautiful with all these details you've put. I like the choice of colours you've made both for the interior and the exterior, you've combined tan with the other colours in a pretty successful way. Btw, why don't you deeplink some photos from the slideshow in your first post or even embed the YouTube video? It will make your topic more interesting and it will probably gather more attention. There is a helpful tutorials link in my signature if you don't know how this works. Quote

I have tried to put photos in my posts and on the first post I did it worked but since then I have come up against all sorts of problems when attempting it. Usually to do with memory. I am not really sure what I am doing wrong as I have tried to read to tutorials but not had a lot of luck. Probably something simple as I am usually pretty good with this sort of thing. I do not have a Brickshelf Account though to post them from. Quote
Gregorovich Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Great cafe! I have to admit, I didn't bother looking at it at first (I don't usually look at MOC's that aren't directly posted here). However, after reading the comments, I had to take a look for myself. I really like the colour choices you've made, the tan and brown do work well together, as does the lime. I love the back of the building, it looks like somewhere I'd see on holiday. The interior details are wonderful, like the toilets and the kitchen. Well done, and thanks for sharing! Quote
Zorbas Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Perhaps the single file size was bigger than permitted. Since there is only a limited number of files/photos that can be uploaded due to available memory a member has, creating a Brickshelf account or even better a Flickr account is a really good solution that will definitely come in handy for future use too. About the Youtube video, you can use the "Insert Media" button found in the toolbar when posting to embed it. Hope that helped. Quote
Tamamono Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Fantastic modular, Hrw-Amen, very nicely done! Both the exterior and the interior look great, and the lime and yellow colors go together incredibly well. If possible, could you give us an estimate of about how many bricks went into it? I have to admit, I didn't bother looking at it at first (I don't usually look at MOC's that aren't directly posted here). However, after reading the comments, I had to take a look for myself. You're not the only one. However, I'm glad I did view it, because it really is an incredible MOC! Quote

I'll try and add them up over the weekend, but off the top of my head at a simple guess given my bricklink orders I'd say about 3000, but is a wild guess. I post back when I have a more accurate number. Quote

I must admit I had not noticed that, I think I got so annoyed trying to get my photos to upload and they would not that I just gave up. Still, next time I will know. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Great job on the build! The inside looks great! Keep up the great work Quote
