I was wondering how a user becomes a moderator/ ambassador or whatever in a certain forum, are voted in by members, or chosen by current moderators? I'm obviously not aiming for something like that at the moment, note I am only a vassal at the minute, but I'm just curious. :classic:

Invitation only.

So be a good sport, stay focussed and you never know.

Oh, and I think it involves giving away your free time and sacrifsing some other stuff (sanity?) but that's supposed to be a secret.

To be honest, I do not know why anyone would want to be a mod. I have been a mod and an admin on a few forums and it is work. Sometimes the SPAM guys break through the firewall or some members get into a fight and you are spending your time cleaning up the mess.

I respect and appreciate those who are Mods, but I would wonder at someone who really wants it.

Yeah, you're 100% right. There are some perks, but overall it's work. I love EB so I'm mostly cool with it, but it costs me a lot of time.

Thanks for the appreciation.

...oh and on the subject of work please don't make such vague topic titles Red Bricks. I've renamed the topic.

Ambassadors are a separate issue; they are recommended by the AFOL community and picked by TLG. (The exact method varies from year to year.) They are not directly part of EB.

You are most welcome. :sweet:

Knowing what it takes to be a good Admin/Mod I think they all deserve some respect and thanks.
