Dont want to be a collector, so i dont go for 100% complete lego star wars collection. But i like the more special things.been looking a while for a lego star wars display case. A while ago the venator republic gunship in display case showed up on a listing here in Denmark, but first of all im not a big fan of clone wars and second it was pretty high priced. So when a 10144 showed up on an ebay listing i couldnt resist. So when i returned home from work today a huge box was placed at my front door.

with build in light

with the acrylic display off

funny but there is no stickers applied

sandcrawler003.jpg

every part of the set has been glued, and some xtra blocks attached underneith the base of the sandcrawler

sandcrawler005.jpg

and the the blocks glued to the set is screwed to the base

the minifigs are glued to the base with a glue gun/melting glue

nice tatooine background

Now i only have to find out where to put the thing, when my wife so the display, she immediatly told me "that this thing wont be placed in my living room" ;-)

Very nice. I've always loved display cases, but I can't bring myself to purchase a set that's glued together and can't be disassembled for parts.

After watching the progress of marshall banana's and cavegod's UCS Sandcrawlers over months, this one looks puny and unimpressive.

That's really cool that you were able to buy that, and thanks for sharing with us.

It sucks that everything is glued, but it's kind of like a collectors piece.

Any chance you'll tell us how much you paid? I'd be very curious to know, the sandcrawler itself has gone way up in price.

Funny thing that's my initial reaction too when I saw this standard Sandcrawler.

Back on topic, as much as display cases are great for storage and proper presentation of models, the problem with these types of standard cases is that they are somehow limited to a single set, diorama, or vehicle. For someone who has a sizeable SW collection, lots of these would have to be purchased, that's why I still prefer custom-made display cabinets so you can display more and you'll have more freedom in layouting/designing the display.

I see larger ones quite often for displaying more than one set. The Atlantis ones were well done in my opinion; they fit several sets in an arrangement that made sense and incorporated interactive features. Though for MOCs I too would have to go with the custom cases.

wat a pity the minifigs are glued-in. if not, in this nice display case, more jawas and other related minifigs can be added for a great diorama.

Yup thats just what I thought, when I first saw it it was about the size of the MTT and looked a great set, but now compared with MS's and cg's sandcrawlers it looks tiny .

I think I would need a green house to display mine in!! lol

Or a garden centre to display both yours and marshall banana's .

or the local sand dunes, hmmm now theres an idea!

Hey that's cool! I've always been meaning to ask the Toys"R"Us employees if I can have the displays, if they're just throwing them out. (I can't say my parents would be too happy with a huge box sitting around though! )

My friend worked at TRU and got me the displays of 6210 Sail Barge and 6211 ISD for $5 each. Unfortunately the ISD doesn't open. I was able to pry off the minifigs from their base though. Neither has such an awesome case as this sandcrawer.

Wow. I'm jealous. That's a steal, considering the price of the minifigs.

i paid a litlle less than the usual price on ebay.co.uk and bricklink, i was the only bidding on the set, so i pad the sellers start price

cavegod and marshall bananas sandcrawlers are amazing, if i had skills building like you i would find somekind of suitable display and never take your fantastic mocs apart.

When I have more money I'll be very interested in getting things like these, thanks for sharing!

My Sandcrawler is not so proudly displayed on a shelf in my office/nerd room - I either love it or hate it depending on what angle I look at it. Alas Marshal Banana and Cavegod's MOCs have tipped me further towards hating it :cry_sad: . Maybe if I had such a cool display as yours my love for this set could be rekindled - I am quite envious. BTW I'm sure you probably already know, but, you can buy the sticker sheet from BL.

I would also love to know what you paid - but it looks like you're avoiding answering  .

I have experience with this problem; you could try pointing out to your wife all the things that she displays in your living room that you don't like, but have never complained about. This approach didn't work for me, but maybe you will have more luck.

i actually have a small glas vitrine shelf with some smaller collectables in the living room, but this thing is just to huge. i paid 179 euro for the display, i find the price reasonable. Btw seing marshal bananas and cavegods MOC made me buy a 10144, and i actually like the lego version. Im not a 100% AFOL, lego is always something i build and enjoy with my oldest son, but im envy on your office/nerd room, i would really like one myself. Found a great spot at my sons room and the display is now at his room

I agree 179 euro is a good price. I recently saw a new sealed 10144 go on eBay UK for £142! I hope your son enjoys your new acquisition.

IMHO, GBP142 seems a good price considering it is new and sealed. some of the prices we get for similar condition 10144 is really exorbitant!

I like the display case but it's tragic the model is glued. :cry_sad:

But for display purpose only, you cant see the difference.

I’d say no. I’m a builder, having glued Lego is like owning a gun and not buying bullets. Sure it’s Lego but very limiting unless you collect Lego Display Units. ;)
