Stu83 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 In the absence of any pictorial guidance I have followed AussieJimbo's suggestion to dual-power my Maersk locomotive with a reversing switch. I would have found a photo useful, so I have taken one and posted it to Brickshelf here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=490786 The only modification besides removal of the driver and insertion of the reversing switch is to replace a white 1x6 brick with a 1x6 plate and four 1x2 plates to make room for the cables to pass under. JamesP Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 way back in the distant past, if you look at LUGNET .trains post 3312, you will find an answer as to how long a train it is possible to pull with 9V motors. I know I got to the point where the train was running almost all the way around the room with 2 9V motors pulling it. (and yes, it was 13 years ago...) James Powell Quote
goce Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 So, If I wanna put two train motor's and I need 2 IR and reverse polarity swith or I can just connect reverse cable from IR to battery box? Speaking of Mearsk 10219 of course. Quote

Bricktrain Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 I'd like to run 2 horizons as well but I think I'll just use a reverse poll switch in the trailing loco. If you are running two powered engines, one at each end you dont need a seperate switch as you can use the one on the PF receiver. To run my HEs back to back I have two motors in the pulling engine only, it is more reliable than having two receivers. So, If I wanna put two train motor's and I need 2 IR and reverse polarity swith or I can just connect reverse cable from IR to battery box? Speaking of Mearsk 10219 of course. To put two motors in the Mearsk you need two motors, one battery box, one receiver and one PF switch. Quote
marook Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 I have a HE running with two motors, one battery box and one Sbrick. You simply set the one motor as 'reverse' in the SBrick setup.. The SBrick in BT 4.0 LE, it's smaller than the IR sensor, does not need to be visible, and have 4 outputs vs. the two on the IR sensor. And the SBrick can control all 4 independently! Quote
zephyr1934 Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Greetings new friend, while indeed there are all sorts of interesting bits in old threads like this, please do not bump an old topic just to add a small comment or ask a quick question. Few of the readers will remember the original discussion and it just becomes confusing for the regular readers. In cases like this you are better off starting a new thread. That said... So, If I wanna put two train motor's and I need 2 IR and reverse polarity swith or I can just connect reverse cable from IR to battery box? Speaking of Mearsk 10219 of course. To be "lego pure" you will probably have to modify the Maersk to get a polarity switch in, but it can easily be done. Probably the easiest spot is to put it in the cab, though it is likely to displace the engineer. You could bypass the polarity switch using a modified connector wire (cut it in two and swap the wires). In other models you do not need a polarity switch if you can figure out a way to get both motor power cords coming down on the same side of the motor (e.g., both to the rear of the locomotive), but that requires a cable hole behind the rear truck and the Maersk does not have that.
