AussieJimbo Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Thanks for the pics, eiker86. I like this a lot and hope it is indeed an official set as appears likely. It's looking like a great year for Lego Train. Those independent straight rails open up the possibility of a simple narrow gauge circuit using Indiana Jones curves. :classic: Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Those independent straight rails open up the possibility of a simple narrow gauge circuit using Indiana Jones curves. Good morning 'AJ' I was wondering when you would be on board......oh, and what independant straight rails.....they look standard ready-made tracks to me ! And ha-ha....someone put on air-horn on the engine backwards ! Quote
peterab Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I would have bet against any new city trains for at least a couple of years but this certainly appears to be a new set. I think this has some very nice aspects and other I don't like. I'm not sure about the box car and ballast car. I don't much like the colours, and the ballast car looks odd to me. The low loader seems OK, and I think the crane is quite prototypical, intended to lift small loads like the pallet that is near it. I quite like the look of the European engine. The huge plus for me is the return of the red windshield, seen only on the Super Chief before Quote
eiker86 Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 OMG ! That bucket on the ballast wagon is that new top part in brown of the new space rocket in the city range ! Also on the maintance truck there is a sticker on a 2x1 tile on the front....which usually carries the set number, but sadly a minifig is blocking our view of it - hmm, backprinting on the railway worker....is that new or old ? Back to looking even more closer......keep on looking ! the service truck have a stikker with "two letters" 3677 =) im on my galaxy tab so its hard to get the right pics out. i got a video to. ill post more when im home. the maersk train are now 9 hours and 29 minutes from the offical show... the time for the maersk is 10AM gmt +1 Quote
AussieJimbo Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) Good morning 'AJ' I was wondering when you would be on board......oh, and what independant straight rails.....they look standard ready-made tracks to me ! G'day mate. Those rails on the bed of the service vehicle carrier look like 16 long straight rails without sleepers. :classic: Looking forward to your next update, eiker86. Thanks again. :classic: Edited February 18, 2011 by AussieJimbo Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Those rails on the bed of the service vehicle carrier look like 16 long straight rails without sleepers. Sorry, my bad....they are there to hold the vehicle on to the flatbed. So, the sticker on the truck said the same as the engine.....all we need now is official word for Lego themselves. Quote
MojoLego Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 The engine reminds me of a Swedish T43 or T44. But I'm sure there are several diesels out there with similar looks. How about a DB Class 290? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DB_Class_V_90 Quote
Siegfried Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I find it hard to believe it's a MOC; too many newish pieces and no old ones. In case TLG is reading; I like it! EDIT: Further proof; the flatbed bogies have red and blue parts inside. No MOCer would do that! Quote
jonwil Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 The fact that this is using parts previously non-existent means it has to come from TLG. The windscreen on the engine has never come in red with trans-black glass before, that's another new part. What parts are they using for the black conveyor belt in the hopper loader thing? Also what are the tan parts on the side of that with the technic holes? Its not a piece I have ever seen before. As for price, its got an engine, boxcar, hopper, low-loader flatbed, maintenance vehicle, loading conveyor and possibly more, so its going to cost at least as much as the cargo train (especially as it has the expensive PF elements in it). If its a store exclusive, its likely to cost even more. Quote
pinioncorp Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 One thing that I noticed is the bogie on the back of the engine is rather ugly; It doesn't use the usual suspension sides that the 2010 sets use, but is rather done the old fashioned way, except with a brick sticking out. Very unlike TLG. Quote

Ayato Zechs Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) Just found a video of the new Cargo Train in action. Seems that there are 3 different ones running. Edited February 19, 2011 by Siegfried Embedded video Quote
vgsprites Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Hi Ayato Zechs! Welcome to Eurobricks! Nice little video you found though it's fuzzy. The flimmaker seemed to be in a rush. Watching the new cargo train running around the new city sets makes me want it more! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Pity the camera operator didn't have a more steady hand eh ? So this might be a second half release, as the new harbour and space sets are featured. Now we wait for the offical word. Brick On Everyone ! Quote
Selander Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I thik this is a teaser made by TLG for the show only. It will not be an official set. Some of the "new" elements could be just never released pieces that was moulded by TLG during various development of sets that never hit the shelf. This is my own speculation. Quote
legotrainfan Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Since 10219 is hitting the shelves soon, I'd be very surprised if this weren't a MOC but an official set. Concerning trains we are normally only offered one passenger train, one freight train and one exclusive. Releasing another freight train so soon is something I don't comprehend. Maybe this train will be released next year; or maybe this train was just assembled by TLC's desingers without the intention of ever making it an official set. Quote
Brickviller Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I do think ti is a new set, and will be released one way or another. I mean why else would Lego spend valuable time and money (for the new color bricks and some new molds) in a Lego layout. They also could just ride with the older cargo train so I see no point in seeying it as a Lego-made Moc Quote
roamingstop Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Whether new or not, there is a lot of similarity with the AMD series in Switzerland. The small crane arm is typical for the mini self propelled modules of www.windhoff.de http://www.windhoff.de/d/index_ft.htm (click on Windhoff modular concept on the lower right). Quote
eiker86 Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) Jesper from Byggepladen.dk (LUG) heard with someone there from TLG and this is a set and it comes in August 2011 And that camera operator from that made that movie on YouTube above should not never ever have a camera again... Edited February 19, 2011 by eiker86 Quote
Ondra Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I do not understand exactly why TLC make another regular freight train one year later. This must be some kind of coincidence. This train looks like prototype to me. Quote
9Benua Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Damn, Can it wait until 2012? Too much stuff I have to buy this year :p Quote

It may not mean anything, but both of the current City trains are in backorder at US S@H. Would be interesting if TLG decided to do more frequent set redesigns and smaller production runs. I had expected 7938 and 7939 to be around for two to three years. Edited February 19, 2011 by MojoLego Quote

The Yellow Brick Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 It looks real to me. If it was an MOC look at those new pieces in new colours. How can somebody get them so early when they have just been released. Quote
paul_delahaye Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 This so has to be real, that red battery box could not be faked, it has to be moulded by Lego. It does cause train fans a small problem, the lithium battery pack comes in power functions grey. If we use this style of battery pack, the train will loose it's style somewhat. Quote
