Well it has a red and white battery box, and what appears to be a red and white IR receiver at the back. It looks very similar to a design concept I had submitted in July 2010 (job application portfolio) , where I had made up some pictures of a red and black receiver. However it is much more professional than my ideas.

Good - my other half will complain in August... however it is also great as Im currently building a Fire Train which needs a lot of red bits... so Im happy. Perhaps this is also a concept for 2012 as an official Fire Fighting Train has never been released.

Cool, another train, it's starting to look like 1981 :) (when there were two 12V passenger trains, a 12V freight train with steam engine, a 12V steam engine, a 12V diesel engine, a 4,5V freight train and a push along passenger train with steam engine.....those were the days!)

He, maintenance trucks on the drop-center train base are nothing new

Assuming this is a forthcoming set, the engine is appealing; more appealing is having battery boxes in different colours. The rail cars I could take or leave, although the green and white box wagon does match well to the City cargo truck from a couple of years back :classic:

I do not understand exactly why TLC make another regular freight train one year later. This must be some kind of coincidence. This train looks like prototype to me.

There's really only one explanation that I can think of, TLC must have decided that trains are profitable.

So, Lego have done it again....sneak a new set in.....no wonder when kids read Spot What books....hey kids see what you can spot here !

August release eh ? Now that calls for a well placed phone call to Lego Australia, major toy sales happen in April, July and September...so it might be either a July or September AU release....my guess Toyworld or Myer !

Maybe Lego realised that trains are wanted by all and thought hey, we have never done a maintance train before or at least in the last decade - now who wants to see a new train shed eh ?

Could we now see a transport expansion in city, I guess road and air get more treatment next year !

I'm asking myself if set 7939 will have reached the end of its production cycle when that set is released in August. If 7939's availability reaches far beyond the release date of 3677, TLC must have changed its stance on trains.

I don't know in your countries, but in France LEGO Trains have been sold out for Xmas !

It seems to be very popular again !

At the LEGO website in the US, if you order it now, you'll get it in a month from now. This was also true during Xmas (some friends wanted to buy a train for their son, but they had to buy something else instead because the trains were on back order and wouldn't have arrived before Xmas).

The current passenger and cargo train are quite a bit more expensive than the previous passenger and cargo train (the current passenger train is $129 while the previous one was $89).

At these prices, one would expect lower demand, but that hasn't happened, these trains are still selling like cupcakes. I'm sure that profit must be really good nowadays.

I think it is great that TLC is releasing a new train. I just hope it doesn't lead to frequent rereleases of particular types of trains. Take example of what TLC did with the Police line, but with smaller intervals. How can you guys tell that the battery box is red?

The extensive uses of the new parts, and the not-too-complex building style which has quite some room for improvement and better use of color (particularly for the bulk cargo loading tower thing with conveyor belt...) would force me to place a bet on its being an official set!

The new City port set 4645 got a conveyor belt , and it seems that the bulk cargo loading tower thing is also using it. Another good match for this train being a new official set.

And as an official set, actually it is relatively of good design already!

I hate this train, and the Maersk. I got out of LEGO trains when they stopped 9v and brought out those horrible RC trains. These make me want trains again.

I wonder who got most of your LEGO trains.

I wonder. And all my technic, and now I have probably 20 times as much technic, I better not do that with trains though.

The red train windscreen piece 6567 sells for ~$20 on bricklink. This train has two of them!

This train has them with trans-smoke class, the previous trains with red windscreens have had trans-clear glass.

I know that's where I found 10219 in green, I was trying to also see any other city sets we haven't heard about yet.

Talking about detailed shots.....I saved them all to go over again, this one beats 7939 easy.

I still love that road'n'rail truck....they could have even released it on it's own....but I'll still buy this.

Hmm, August....my birthday is in August !

Yeah I also think this one is much better than 7939, Now I almost feel sorry for buying that one  because I'm running out of space. Well that means I need to make another table and remove my wardrobe  Just kidding, or am I..?

Both 2010 train sets where sold out in many shops in Switzerland, also most of the time track packs where sold out too. So it seems LEGO reacts, but that's kinda fast to respond, isn't there a lead time of about 1-2 years for new sets? So they had this in the pipeline all along and Marketing pushed for release ^^

I will buy this definitely. My layout lacks some good track maintenance ^^
