LegoCityMann Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 OK< So I wanted to update some of my older mid-90's 4-wide vehicles to make them more to scale with Today's sets. The first set I am attempting this with is the classic 6581 Dig and Dump. For those not familiar with it here's the original from Peeron I wanted to try and retain as many of the original features of the set as possible. I started with the Dump Truck. Although I used the Dump Truck bed from the Toy Story Trash Compactor Escape set I don't think it subtracts from the overall aesthetic of the set. The original front and back of the Dump Bed are used instead to create the hood of the Truck. The wheel base was widened with a longer technic piece and the addition of the smaller technic rings. The Dumper was significantly harder to reproduce in a 6-wide scale. I really don't like the small original scoop but I am leaving it there until I can find a better solution. And here we see the completed MODs together. Brick On! and as always, questions, comments, suggestions, and criticisms welcome. ~LCM Quote
vgsprites Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Great job LegoCityMann! This was one of my favorite sets I got when I was a child. Now I use the scoop as MOD in current sets and I have the dump pieces only. I love how you made the hood of the dump truck with the dump pieces. Get a yellow tipper bed for the truck and a trans yellow round plate for the dumper you'll be golden. Otherwise nice MOD! Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Not bad work 'LCM', how about an overall shot of your city and everything in it so far eh ? Keep going with your creations and Brick On 'LCM' ! Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 very cool LCM! I love the turn function it still has. And the rebuilding into a modern version is just smart. Quote
