Venunder Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Very good so far. I look forward to seeing the Full MOC. Quote
DarkDruid Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 @Abu Dun: No one said the Lion Kingdom were the good guys. @Venunder: That might take a while. Quote
mephistopheles Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Dude you really put time and effort into this! Very well done! Out of curiosity, can you give an approximate brick count? Quote
DarkDruid Posted April 18, 2012 Author Posted April 18, 2012 Brickcount is currently approximately 5400. Well, I did say it's a long-term project. :P Quote
King of Apple Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 wow, i am try to combine two 7947 and two 7187 to build a ultimate “Dragon death tower”, your bastion gave me some idea , nice bastion any way, i like the path with the grey mini figure statue Quote
beelzibus Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Very unusual, and as others have said, very TLG. I love the furniture, and the use of the grey minifigs as supports. That's a really cool idea. Quote
Redhead1982 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 It's very interesting to look at this bastion, even as it is 'only' a WIP. I like mostly the interior details, that add so much life to the creation. My favourite are definetely the corner shelfs. And seeing its size, it's fantastically build (and planned) to make a different shape in the classic grey-red colour scheme. Well done. Quote
DarkDruid Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I'm currently designing the next layer which will feature a small kitchen among other things. It's almost complete, so I'll start buying brick again soon. Quote
DarkDruid Posted August 10, 2012 Author Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) Loads of new parts arrived! I soon regreted having dumped them all in one place... Anyway, front: Back: Then the important Technic-bit: (The bricks on the axle are there as a counterweight.) (The Technic bush prevents the gear from turning back, the lever was added so once the bridge was raised it can be lowered again. :P ) Oh, yes, the back again, in case you were wondering how that was progressing. And the front: As you might be able to tell according to my initial design I was planning on adding the roof here, with easy access to the lever. But the entire structure had to be raised a couple of bricks so the bridge could be drawn in completely. And, ladies and gentlemen, the finished structure: (It's obviously quite tall for minifig standards...) And here are two lovely shots of the gate drawn up: That's it, I'll keep you guys informed on further progress of my Bastion. The idea for this drawbridge originated from a book I recently bought: THE LEGO IDEAS BOOK, YOU CAN BUILD ANYTHING! Just in case people thought the mechanism looked familiar. Edited August 20, 2015 by DarkDruid Quote
Abu Dun Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Wow, that's a very neat gatehouse and the technique you used to build the mechanism for raising and lowering the portcullis looks very intriguing. Having the banner of the king included in the bottom of the bridge, so that it's visible when raised, is a very clever detail not often seen. I'm looking forward to further progress of this work of yours and am suer that, once finished, this will be even more impressive than the, already great, single sections Quote
Evan D Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 This project looks very promising, keep up the great work! Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Superb work! Very inspiring furnitures ...I love them! Quote
Watchman Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 great work - am loving the furniture (particularly loved the corner cabinet - inspired !), but the overall model is fab too - love the modularity, and keeping faithful to LEGO Kingdoms theme ... keep up the great work ! Quote
Duce Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 looks great, the shape is interesting, and I love the details inside like the statues, tables and beds etc. really brings some character into the build. Quote
DarkDruid Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 New box of parts! Hooray! Anyway, let's get building! Initial design for this statue of The Fallen Knight: End result: (If you're wondering what changed: it's the tree. I had to make it shorter, or it wouldn't fit...) Expect more updates soon. Quote
ZCerberus Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Nice work here. Very classic looking. Keep it up! Quote
Duce Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 looking good, my only critic would be too many doors on the ground floor. A more defensive strong hold look would make it much better imo. but thts just my taste. Quote
DarkDruid Posted October 18, 2012 Author Posted October 18, 2012 Actually there's only going to be one central entry point. The statue there also serves a defensive purpose. Attackers are forced to go around it, slowing them down a bit and giving the defenders more oppurtunities to strike them down. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Great update! The statue and floor designs look very nice and the 1x1 rounds around the windows add a nice depth Quote
mpaisana Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 amazing. one of the best MOC's to be shown up here lately. Congrats Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Great build so far I don't know for others, but the pictures that get me the most excited is the one with the box full of bricks Quote
DarkDruid Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 Update: Well, you've probarbly already guessed what this is. That's right! It's the kitchen! More to follow. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Excellent kitchen, the oven looks very realistic and the other details are good as well. I like how you are keeping the whole build in the style of a set Quote
Kai NRG Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Great work so far, I love the gold highlights and the lady baking bread looks great. Quote
