Well, I agree with the others - while I love the cross-section display and your incredible love to detail, it is all beaten by the Kraken.

Awesome entry. I really like how part of the ship is under water, and you have a lot of action packed in there. The face on Jack is a great pick, and I love the Kraken in the first picture. Good luck.

Great job

Thanks everyone for your support and tips, I figured the only way i could incude the Kraken's mouth considering my limited collection was to make it a cut-out as well. I'm not too happy about it as the Kraken's body isn't completely right.

(tentacles need to come from somewhere :pir_wacko: )

Anyway, I didn't realize the kraken's mouth would be the most succesfull thing about this moc, I'm happy I didn't wait too long with posting, you helped making this a better entry, thanks.

The beast's stomach is absolutely fantastic! Tentacles are very well done, and putting the water surface over the ship's bottom gives an impression of reality. By the way, the man with beard on the 4th photo looks like a pixie for me...

I love Kraken's stomach and things in it! And these DkRed plates inside... They make it look yet more realistic!

The tentacles ar great, those round "dishes" are a perfect imitation of suckers. I'd only maybe improve some back and bottom parts of Kraken's body behind the mouth. I advise you to use more slopes instead making a vertical wall there. Plus, in the upper part, just behind the mouth, there are some studs, and I think you must add some slopes or at least plates there - if Kraken is so beautiful, why spoil it by leaving such parts uncovered? However, I like the part of the body with the blue dome (what the hell is that? Remove it!) inclined different angle than the rest.

The space inside the ship is very well done and full of details. I can see lot of figs, and every one is doing something else, making every deck interesting and full of action. It's also esthetic at the aspect of how it was build. That lots of barrels, chains, tools, rolled carpets... it stunned me because most of builders put not enough details into their models. Even the columns are adorned by some bags hanging on them!

The water is a bit too flat I think, especially a huge monster is struggling in it. I don't tell you to make 6m high waves, but at least one plate high. You made wonderful bubbles and foam around the tentacles, so it won't be a problem for you as a builder.

I miss an overall photo of everything - including monster's mouth! I'd like to see how it looks!

And advice: I'm not sure if the stony background of the first photo is a good idea - it suggests the scene is placed in the desert, and next photo with ship is absolutely different.

Good luck!

This is the final thing, I had to change the first picture which is kind of sad but I really don't have parts to have a tentacle both in the water and near the Kraken's mouth.

Anyway, I seem to fail seeing the best parts of my creation, I was going to drop the Kraken's mouth if it wasn't for you guys;

Thanks.

Excellent entry, Sebeus Iniwum. :pir-laugh: I think this new first picture looks great, it's like an action shot. It also shows the amount of creativity that went into the mouth of the Kraken, great job on that! The tentacles look also very good. Cut-outs are popular it seems, you've done a nice job. There's plenty of action going on and there are a lot of details on the inside of the ship. For some way or another, the half empty bottle of rum stands out to me. The ship being under water for a part is also a nice touch. A shame about the lack of parts, but we all stumble on restrictions. Some tentacles going through the ship would've been nice. I don't mind that the Kraken isn't complete, showing the inside of his stomach is a great idea instead of a full Kraken! Good luck in the contest!

It's a great entry, for sure! Nice work, Sebeus.

I had actually considered an entry show-casing Jack vs. Kraken myself but alas, I've been unwell these past few days. When I saw this that ruled out any aspirations!

Your Kraken maw looks great and I like the way you've gone the whole hog and built the cross-section of the ship complete with crew feverishly scurrying to their stations.

Good luck in the contest matey.

This is one of my favorite entries. Especially the crop through the ship, the water and the Kraken makes is such an excellent MOC.

The ship is full of little details that makes it such a lively scene. The hay fork on the wall, the shipload on the floor with all its barrels, boxes and the little pig. Even every brace between the floors has somethin hanign on it: bag, bucket or just the simple but lovely lanterns or the harpoons on the main deck. And just watch the brush in the barrel... With all the minifigures being so bustling I just feel like beeing part of the crew, fearing every moment that a tentacle would catch me.

Of course I know its the black pearl, but putting more coloring like brown in the ships hull and floor would look more realistic. Also the ground and planket could have been more irregular by using some tiles to simulate planks.

Next one is the Kraken: Showing only a section of the Kraken emphasizes its dimension, also the little section of his body with the inner view into his stomach (the bone made me smile) The same on his mouth. Great technique to make it round and putting all the teeth in it. Not making it flat like in the movies but more like a cylinder emphasizes its harassment. The irregularity of his teeth do so as well.

I especially like the tentacles. Putting the disks displaced gives them a realistic touch. I think you got out of bricks for making them taller :)

I don´t like the Krakens eye. It looks unnatural and doesn´t fit into the scene. In the movie I think its amber, so tan with a black pupil would be much better. Also integrating it into the corpse would make the Kraken more natural. Same for the stud plate on the front.

Further add more splash to the water near the ship and the tentacles. Even though there is a movie scene, where the tentacles come out slowly, it would make it much more lively and dangerous.

Putting one tentacle directly next to the ship and letting it slide at a cannon would be a great eye catcher.

One main reason beacsue I like it that much is, that you just put several movie scenes in this MOC.:

1. William who gets lifted with the barrels of rum and Elisabeth waiting with her gun for the final shot. You even didnt forget Wills' knife.

2. Jack heading with his rapier into the Krakens mouth. (Putting one foot back and one arm forward would have make it better)

and

3. The crew preparing for the fight against the Kraken.

My suggested improvements are just "the cherry on the cake" of a great MOC. As an outsider its always easy to make suggestions on improving but these couldn't also be the intention of the builder. The achievment of building such a huge scenery shouldnt get any further suggestions...

I hope everybody understands the meaning. I`m just trying to improve my English and reading all those topic on Eurobricks really helps me. But for now its quite difficult to me to translate my german common speech in English words. I´m always looking forward to translation tips....

I wanted to comment some more entries but as I need a couple of hours for just one comment I limited it to my favorite one.

Thank you, I appreciate it very much, especially because I liked your entry very much.

Now about the Eye of the Kraken, actually the whole mouth,

It was bound to be unnatural, the Kraken is a cephalopod but in my little scene tentacles are coming out of the water as well as the head :P

At mocpages someone asked me how many minifigurs would fit in the brig. So when I was taking my black pearl cross-section apart I took some pictures that show the interior a bit better.

The gun deck

There this detail you couldn't see very well at first.

On to the brig:
