gcanik Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 So after sitting down and watching the first season of SW The Clone Wars on Blu-Ray with my son I decided to build us a version of the AAT. In going down this path I decided to opt to use the official set (8018-1) for the basis of my design but wanted to incorporte design elements from the tv show and from the Hasbro released toy. I changed the color in several locations (areas of the turret, the outboard laser cannons, and the rear of the tank). I also redesigned the tip of the tank cannon, the outboard laser cannons, and portions of the turrent (replacing wedge bricks with curved slopes). I also added smaller cannons to the left and right of the cockpit area as in the Hasbro version. I then redid the removable speeder making the front section more appropiately designed to be the driving center of the AAT but still kept it as being removable with a storage section in the rear area. The outboard laser cannons still maintain their flick fire missile capibility but I think just look better now. A laser rifle was added to the side of the turret hatch for the commander to have a weapon for close quarter combat and defense (as in all military tanks have for that reason). I'm fairly happy with what I've modified, I never got around to getting the stickers for this set so the 6 cannon tubes are missing from the lower rounded areas of the AAT. Enjoy and comments always welcome. Link to more images on my MOCpages Link to image of the Hasbro Toy Version Link to the animated Clone Wars Version Link to the official LEGO Version Quote

XimenaPaulina Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Very nice subtle mods that significantly improved the 8018 model. Well done! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Nothing extremely obvious changed, but these all look to be quality modifications. Nice work. Quote
wokajablocka Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I genrally always agree with the Doctor. Only subtle changes but they look great. Had to use the comparison pics to see the mods but good work. Quote
Masked Builder Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Not bad. I like that you've changed out the colors in all of the right places and made it the right size. I genrally always agree with the Doctor. You stole my line!!! Quote
Mr Man Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Looks good gcanik I prefer this to the real set . The minor changes to the guns and colours make it more streamlined. Quote
