So after sitting down and watching the first season of SW The Clone Wars on Blu-Ray with my son I decided to build us a version of the AAT. In going down this path I decided to opt to use the official set (8018-1) for the basis of my design but wanted to incorporte design elements from the tv show and from the Hasbro released toy. I changed the color in several locations (areas of the turret, the outboard laser cannons, and the rear of the tank). I also redesigned the tip of the tank cannon, the outboard laser cannons, and portions of the turrent (replacing wedge bricks with curved slopes). I also added smaller cannons to the left and right of the cockpit area as in the Hasbro version. I then redid the removable speeder making the front section more appropiately designed to be the driving center of the AAT but still kept it as being removable with a storage section in the rear area. The outboard laser cannons still maintain their flick fire missile capibility but I think just look better now. A laser rifle was added to the side of the turret hatch for the commander to have a weapon for close quarter combat and defense (as in all military tanks have for that reason). I'm fairly happy with what I've modified, I never got around to getting the stickers for this set so the 6 cannon tubes are missing from the lower rounded areas of the AAT. Enjoy and comments always welcome.
