Brickdoctor Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 there was no sepperate certificate, the whole background of the frame is the certificate. Gotcha. I'd still be interested in seeing a pic of the whole thing. Just because I've never seen one before. Quote
JimH Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 as soon as my knucklehead kids can find me the card reader for the camera you got it. the photo i emailed out was from my cell phone and the picture i tried to take of the whole thing is not readable if you try to zoom in because of the crapppy resolution of my cell phone or i would have had that one posted too. StoutFiles Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Hey Jim, I am seriously interested in this piece. If you want to discuss a deal please contact me. Kyle He's not going to deal with anyone individually. If he sells it, which he shouldn't right now, he will make much more money with a public auction. Nice try though. Quote
Sir von Lego Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Hey Jim, I am seriously interested in this piece. If you want to discuss a deal please contact me. Kyle So we are two now! I am also interested in this item! But As someone mentioned before there will Be no individual deal but an official auction at some soon time. Greetings Hendrik Quote
Gooker1 Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Wow! Congrats on this amazing win from a few years back. Thank you for sharing the photos with us and we cannot wait to see more of it. As if interest in this figure isn't high enough, you should definitely hit up Star Wars and Lego friendly message boards. Rebelscum.com is a huuuge Star Wars message board/site, and FBTB.net is mostly Star Wars Lego based. If and when you get an auction going, I suggest trying to get a hold of the ultimate Star Wars collector...Steve Sansweet. He collects all things Star Wars and I wouldn't be surprised if he plays a major role in the bidding of this rare item. I can't wait to see more of this process. Based on my gut alone, I see this being a $10,000+ piece. Congrats and I'm glad it's going towards something as good as a college education!! Quote
Piranha Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 there was no sepperate certificate, the whole background of the frame is the certificate. it says 1 of 5 or something along those lines. as mentioned earlier we have the original box from fed-ex with legos return shipping addy on it. also if you look at the late winter/early spring lego magazine after the drawing it list the five winners. sir von lego has my last name via the email i sent him, if you look up the 5 winners you will see an Andrew Hoffmann . if and when we go to sell we will be able to have the buyer verify our address and name with the records at Lego. all 5 winners names are out there, unfortunately we lost our copy of the issue that anounced the winners, if anyone would have an extra old copy from back then i would be interested in it. Hello, I never doubted the authenticity of it, I like Brickdoctor am just curious what it looked like Gotcha. I'd still be interested in seeing a pic of the whole thing. JimH Posted July 7, 2011 Author Posted July 7, 2011 Hello, I never doubted the authenticity of it, I like Brickdoctor am just curious what it looked like no sweat, and for the record i did fine the list of 5 winners on a old thread i dug up on another forum. The Gold winners are: Andrew Hoffmann Christopher Giancola Elizabeth Jacome Jason Masey Chris Melchin Quote

mobricki Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I have some gold myself and honestly if I was you I would go to a toy auction or an auction where they sell star wars collectibles and see what you can get. there are millions of star wars fans out there. I would also start advertising this everywhere don't just go to lego forums find star wars forums as well you have a much better chance making more money with star wars fans than lego fans. You'll probably get at least a five digit sum for this very rare collectors piece. Good luck. Quote

Ceroknight Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 you have a solid gold c3p0 too? I think he only has 'plain' gold This looks really lovely, and as much as I want to buy this from you, I'm sure many others will give you better deals than me. This makes me wonder who has the gold, silver, and bronze boba fett minifigures... Anyways good luck! Quote
harmacy Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 This is such a fascinating thread!! I sincerely hope the winners have these things locked away in safe deposit boxes! It would be tragic to say the least if they were damaged or mistaken As a lesser item by a non-fan. My 2 cents though, keep it for as long as possible before selling. If the Brits are installing vending machines that dispense gold, that can only say good things about future value. Good luck!!! Quote
Alldarker Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 (edited) Ahhh... So nice to see this, even if just in a picture. I'm going to have to agree with mobricki: promoting this item within both the Lego community and the Star Wars community will most definitely be the way to sell this for a five figure sum. There are PLENTY of very wealthy people who are huge fans of Star Wars or Lego and who will have very little problems laying down BIG money for this kind of crazily exclusive AND intrinsically valuable item. I collect Transformers, and in that collectors community a PLASTIC Transformer like Grand Maximus (though relatively very common compared to this item) sometimes goes for sums up to $3,500. This C3PO is insanely more rare than Grand Maximus is, it's made of SOLID GOLD and it is based on a license which is far more popular than Transformers. Edited July 13, 2011 by Alldarker Quote
Jedi master Brick Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 My first reaction is you are dead lucky. I recommend you do an eBay style acution, telling as many Lego star wars fans you can, if you want to sell which I wouldn't. I would expect around $10000, but it could be more. The gold itself is worth something, but this is up there in the most expensive toys of all time Quote

This makes me wonder who has the gold, silver, and bronze boba fett minifigures... Anyways good luck! You are correct I have what you can call plain gold. I've been collecting coins for about ten years now. I want to add something else to this conversation as well collector value and demand plays a huge part being as there are only five of these in the world the demand will be stupid high. As far as coin collecting goes I've seem people pay over $10,000 for a US 1909 S VDB penny and about 400,000 of these were minted. Has anyone else come forth and said they had one of these? If not that might make the demand even more because this might be the only chance that anyone else will ever get to own one of these things. Quote
wokajablocka Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I ve noticed that the head is not on the torso properly. If its sealed behind the glass you cant adjust it and put it on. Quote
JimH Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 I ve noticed that the head is not on the torso properly. If its sealed behind the glass you cant adjust it and put it on. how do you know if the head is on properly? this is the way it came. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 how do you know if the head is on properly? this is the way it came. It's not pushed down all the way. The neck rod shouldn't be exposed. Quote
JimH Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 It's not pushed down all the way. The neck rod shouldn't be exposed. have you seen another one of these to know? I ask because the last thing I need to do is push on that head and screw something up. if you don't mind please explain how you know. I'm asking, not trying to argue. hope you can understand where we're coming from. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 have you seen another one of these to know? No, but on a normal minifig it's pushed down. And in the graphic representation of this minifig it's pushed down. Quote
JimH Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 No, but on a normal minifig it's pushed down. And in the graphic representation of this minifig it's pushed down. so let me ask you this, if it was yours, would you want to be the one to bend soft gold? see my dilemma? i'm think'n whoever buys it can push the sucker down if they want!
