mobricki Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 (edited) I've heard that the Hobbit theme will be released along with the movie. I hope this is true. I would love to see a Lord of the Rings theme!! It would last quite awhile too. Oops somehow I double posted. Please delete this one. Edited July 10, 2011 by mobricki Quote
Zeya Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 It's been confirmed that Collectible Minifigures will be around for at least series 6, 7, and 8 - that should last all of 2012. I predict there will continue to be smaller-sized Creator houses or building structures. I suspect that Kingdoms will continue, with a renewed focus on military-based sets. This year's wave was a surprise for me, with respect to what they designed. I hope I am pleasantly surprised next year as well. I think PotC will continue. I sometimes wonder if maybe the sets aren't flying off the shelves, but that's probably just my perception. We still haven't seen any sets from one of the movies in particular (the 3rd one, I think?) On the other hand, perhaps the Black Pearl set might be a last hurrah, considering the variety of minifig characters they're packing into that set. And lastly, I think that Atlantis and Pharaoh's Quest will be discontinued. In its place, I would expect to see a new action theme. You know, something like Rock Raiders and Atlantis where there are a plethora of little gizmos and monsters and moving parts. Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 (edited) I don't know if it would be next year or the year after but a Hobbit theme series would be popular. As for the adventure series I would like to see pioneers of aviation or something like that, I thought the aeroplane sets from the pharohs quest looked pretty good. A aviaton theme would be great it could be a race around the world type with ballons, dirigibles, and of course all sorts of airplanes. Edited July 6, 2011 by LEGOMAN132 Quote
Vindicare Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 I hope Alien Conquest and Pharaohs Quest will continue, personally. I really enjoyed each and every set in both themes. I'm a bit giddy to see what we get next year as far as a new theme. I hope SW brings new clone troopers and vehicles, as I am really into army building right now. I hope Kingdoms continues with the civilian sets, there's multiple different merchants still to be made. I would love to have an entire village. Quote
TeufelHund Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 If the Hobbit rumours are true, we can probably expect Kingdoms sets will dry up ala the Pirates theme when PotC came along, especially as with back to back movies in 2012-13 we can expect the hype to stay around for a while and Lego sets alongside. I would love to see a Joust themed set for Kingdoms though, before they're done. Not sure about a new faction - maybe Bandits? New Pharaoh's Quest sets would be good - a temple set, Nile Cruise, Lighthouse (or Library) of Alexandria, crocodile pit etc would all be good, plus there could be some nice minfigs along the lines of the Anubis guards. Of course, the adventurers could just as easily move on to another locale. SW RotJ battlepacks would be nice - either with Jabba's forces or Endor. I'd also like a Sandtrooper battlepack with a Dewback (or a new Moss Eisley set including it). For a brand new theme I would like Rome - you could have the arena, the senate house, market place, villa, legionaire's camp etc - lots of great possibilities. Quote
sputnik16 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I really want lego to focus more on commercial buildings and residental with lego city. Maybe even a factory set. Some other sub-themes that might be good could be: a school subtheme , a hospital sub-theme return, or a zoo sub-theme. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I can understand why some are saying The Hobbit might be a new theme next year, though if it is....it won't be until late 2012 when the film is released. As Warner Bros. is the distributor of the film, just like HP. Quote
Cwetqo Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 There will be LoTR before Hobbit, similar like it was with Toy Story (first came TS 1 and 2 sets, and after the movie was we got TS 3 sets). In this way Lego sets also serve as teaser for new movie. Quote
Elander Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 (edited) I believe Tolkiens World would be the second theme were we get Battle Packs (just see the Battle of Five Armies). I've tried to transform every possibility into LEGO-sets. (see here). -> and that is impossible, because Tolkiens Middle-Earth is endless huge. But with "The Hobbit" get LEGO a small window from these world were they can to build some sets like PotC. No, more. It's to say that just alone with the Hobbit LEGO have definitely more possibilities like PotC. But that is no secret. Alone all the minifigures would be spectacular. If they made minifigures in really orc-/ or dwarf style like here, ....ohh my god..., anyone questions? The classic castle-lines would no ending if the hobbit come out. See for example Star Wars and Mars Mission or other space-themes. So it would be too. Edited July 9, 2011 by Elander Quote
fyrmedhatt Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I'm sure next year will be another great year for ego, they have a lot of really good lines to build on right now. I collect Kingdoms, Star Wars, Harry Potter, as well as City plus all the exclusives, so I think those themes are the ones I enjoy speculating about the most. Kingdoms - I really hope it continues, although I'm not certain, another wave would be good, hopefully with a Dragon Knights fortress of some kind and maybe another civilian set. I've read rumours of a shop at home exclusive joust set, which would be something I could get very excited about. Star Wars - I'm just hoping for more OT and PT sets, it has been so long since they have done a significant number of Tatooine sets so those are the ones I want to see, such as a Jabbas Palace, a Mos Eisley Cantina or Lars' Homestead. A new big set rerelease like the Sail Barge or sandcrawler would excite me as I missed them earlier. Anything different from Hoth would be great really. As for the UCS sets I'm not sure what could be made, I guess a UCS AT-AT or a Harry Potter - Let's see how sales are for this latest wave, it certainly seems to be on the chopping block as a theme. My wife suggested the Leaky Cauldron as a set, and along the same lines the Hog's Head might be an option as it will be featured in the last film. Grimmauld's place with a new Sirius and Kreacher is a giant wish for my sake, the same can be said for a Tonks minifig of some kind. City -A new fire station is a given, but hopefully it will be accompanied by a hospital and a medical transport plane. A transport line could be interesting as well, with a logistics center for trucks and trains. Modular Houses - I dont know what the next house will be but this will be the fifth anniversary of the line, but I'm sure it will be great. It could be a hospital, a bank, a restaurant, the possibilities are truly endless! Quote

lightningtiger Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 The way it appears, Warner Bros. seem to only do one Lego theme per year, this year being HP...there is talk of a new Batman film plus the Hobbit film....so which would people like to see more elf's or the Dark Knight ? Disney seem to do one each of live action and cartoon films.....pity Time Warner don't do the same. Quote
Piranha Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 For City there are some possible new editions like Construction, Hospital but I personally would like to see a Zoo and a Town Square. For Kingdoms more civilian sets like a house, tavern maybe etc and a new faction of Forestmen, possible new cypress tree in dark green, deer and a noble for them to rob I do not want to see a Hobbit theme ever, it would end castle, like POTC ended classic pirates, for now. I think the new kingdoms sets are some of the best ever, and don't want it replaced by another license Quote
ziljin Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I definitely want to see more Kingdoms sets. More army building sets like Prison Carriage Rescue, Knight's Showdown, Blacksmith Attack, and Escape from Dragon's Prison. Quote
Hoboman Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I do not want to see a Hobbit theme ever, it would end castle, like POTC ended classic pirates, for now. I think the new kingdoms sets are some of the best ever, and don't want it replaced by another license While I agree they stopped the pirate line while PotC is being sold, I do not think either Castle or Pirates should fear they are at their "end". Castle and Pirate in one form or another will keep returning. As themes go they are part of the core themes and will raise again in one form or another. A Hobbit theme will take over for a short term jst as PotC did to pirates. But both movie themes will have an end. And when they do, the classics will return. Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 (edited) For Alien Conquest a large ADU drop ship with a HQ pod that could transport all the ADU vehicles and a ADU hover or tracked with link track tank or mech would be cool. For the aliens a base and landing craft would be nice. Edited July 10, 2011 by LEGOMAN132 Quote
ziljin Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I would not mind the Hobbit if it meant orcs, elves, and dwarves! Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I'd like to see Hobbit and/or LOTR as well as this opens up all sort of army possibilities and cross over into sci-fi as well. I hope that Alien Quest is expanded on as I really like the space themes and this one has opportunities to tie in with City themes that the other did not so much. There is not much for the ADU yet? Also I would like to see an ancient theme such as Rome or the Med in general, that could see uses for and expansions around the pharohs Quest as well, but in the olden days. Maybe the PQ adventurers get sucked through time to when the pharohs ruled? When you say Indian Quest, do you mean Indian as in India or as in American? Quote
tafkatb Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I had heard about a possible return of Batman sets, which makes perfect sense considering The Dark Knight Rises comes out next year. Quote
Cwetqo Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I had heard about a possible return of Batman sets, which makes perfect sense considering The Dark Knight Rises comes out next year. This might be true, but just a few sets under DC comics license. Quote
Christian Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Well, I don't know "Hobbit" story, but since top priced set of new wave will be "battle for helms deep", I dont think first wave will be hobbit based. This sounds most interesting, and I know you have been a reliable source in the past. Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Harry Potter will be discontinued. POTC will be discontinued Atlantis will be discontinued Pharoah's quest will be replace by another Action/Adventure Theme. Ninjago will stay and produce more sets City, as Klaus said, should have construction and rescue themes. Star Wars will Continue. Hero Factory will continue also. And the Possible Hobbit theme. These are my predictions. What do you think? Quote
ziljin Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Helm's Deep over Hobbit? Does that mean LOTR is guaranteed? Quote
Mirandir Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 In 2012 We'll see: A big release of a girls theme. NinjaGo will not only continue it will feature a whole new faction and the spinjitzu game will evolve with new types of cards... Probably some more PotC. Quote

True, but hiatus would nevertheless surely mean the end for the ongoing Kingdoms subtheme. After the presumed Tolkien theme Castle would return with new sets, factions and designs. Not necessarily worse ones, but still I'm going to be very disappointed if Kingdoms, being one of the best Castle lines, is finished after just two waves. Hopefully things will turn out better and we'll get at least one more Kingdoms wave next year with Dragon Knight fortress, jousting and a civilian set or a few. Quote
