Here's the situation:

Bukkit is running fine, with the new map. I do have a whole heap of schematics from the old map to put in if requested. The map is basically a creative mode style, as there's no mining necessary for resources.

I'd like to open the server up to the general public, but I will need moderators on at all times, as I don't want our creations being griefed. I've considered "towny", but unfortunately it doesn't meet my needs, so we would have to use WorldGuard to protect our areas, which also isn't ideal. I've put a lot of time and effort into this map, but restrictions in mods available, memory on the server and playercount make it rather difficult to set it up the way it was intended.

So everyone, do I just start a survival map? The way I would do it is have a town around the spawn area for us to build in and the randoms can build whatever they like, wherever else. The only downside to this (for me) is the loss of height in the map, and some of our creations won't actually fit.

The "moderators on at all times" will need some work, particularly with the player limit.

Even if we do somehow have moderators online, exactly what can we do to prevent griefing? Whether we start a new map or not, it'll probably be a large one.

I'm not quite sure how to fix a problem like this. Maybe we could have two large areas (separated), and apply permissions to each so that anyone can build in one, but only selected people can build in the other.

Why not take an easier route and keep it a private server but anyone can 'look around'. Then we get people to sign up on a forum to be given permission to build. Since everyone on the server currently is a great builder, they will see all the good things and want to get perms for building. We can carefully sort through the applications and choose people who are decent players. This also eliminates the need for mods to be on 24/7.

I think that was the original plan. It'd be easier, but less interactivity... oh well. A smaller map might be another option.

A new Minecraft update is out, but it's completely destroyed my game due to a null pointer exception. I think it may be the client's problem. :sceptic:

Edit: The problem is a severely-outdated graphics card. If you have an ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 like I do, you can't run Minecraft now.

I think that this is the good route to go, because wasn't the point of this server to be a place where Eurobricks users who play minecraft can play together? Rather than it being a few EB people and some random other people. We can of course "advertise" the server over there, the good point in getting potential LEGO builders over there to join EB, (though provided they are 18 and above as per the rules on EB [or mature as can be  ]).

It's ultimately pin's decision though, since he owns the server.

Even if it's being hosted on a site that takes foreeeeeeeeeeevvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeerrrrrrr to update to the latest patch.

Hey guys I would really appriciate it if you could give me rights to build/play on the server !! I've been on EB for a couple of months now and I'm an avid Minecraft player. I go by Conorp55 on Minecraft ! Thank you.

Sorry mate, the server is off due to the continued lack of use.

The money I spent on the server could have instead bought me a Medieval Market Village, an Airport or even the Podracers set, among countless other things. I really can't justify the server if it isn't used, and the constant updates result in continued downtime.

So sad to hear this. I had a lot of fun on the server. Like having a neverending battle under Jezza's palace with Scouts and pieguy, killing the ender dragon, config out about the holes in the building and interrogating allusive ghost with Delta.

*Ahem* wait, what? :look:

It's too bad the server's been discontinued. I couldn't have played on either of my computers anyway because one's too weak to run Minecraft now and the other is an updated version.

Oh well, I guess we'll have to find another server then. I wonder if anyone else here has an existing server already.

I know this is late, but since nobody mentioned it...

I really hope this doesn't mean the Minecraft sets will be micro-scale. It looks that way from this image.

Also, Minecraft works for me again! Apparently it wasn't my graphics card or anything like that. It's a bit late now though...

I think the text gives it away:

Please join LEGO CUUSOO and the Mojang team for a first look at the third LEGO CUUSOO model release, 21102 LEGO Minecraft Micro World.

There isn't much room for ambiguity. But really, what did you expect? :sceptic:

I think the text gives it away:

Well yes, but "micro" doesn't necessarily refer to the size of the sets. Maybe it refers to the amount of the in-game world featured? Maybe?

...Okay, yeah. No Minecraft figures then. :distressed:

I was probably aiming a bit too high. I expected a small line with small scenes and figures, but this seems to state that it's one single set in small-scale. Oh well.

We know the display is Micro, but it may not be the same for all the sets.

All the sets?

I doubt we'll have more than one.

Isn't that the point of CUUSOO? :sceptic:

I was under the impression Mojang was requesting a liceance. I may be wrong, though.

That does not really mean anything about multiple sets coming out. It means that LEGO, in order to use the "Minecraft/Mojang" names on the Cuusoo set is to get a licence to be able to reproduce the Minecraft name on the set.

Anyway, the 1x1 creeper brick is awesome!
