The Legonater Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Finally watched it. It was a lot more fun than I'd imagined- I really pictured one of the badly done shorts LEGO generally does. Not sure if it would be somethign I'd pick up, but it was fun to watch. Quote
Fallenangel Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 (edited) I think it could happen, the midi range has huge possibilities, you can only do so many remakes of the existing sets and as you see from the reaction over the net to the new falcon for instance, fans get a bit upset, I'd love a full midi fleet I apologize if this sounds blunt, but how often do we actually get future sets from LEGO animated shorts? EDIT: And remember, as much as I loved the midi-scale sets, they didn't sell very well, and The LEGO Group doesn't seem to be planning to make any more. Edited July 25, 2011 by fallenangel309 Quote
The Legonater Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I apologize if this sounds blunt, but how often do we actually get future sets from LEGO animated shorts? I can think of a total of... zero times. The closest we've gotten was the ARC a year or so ago- but we already knew that was coming, and it's ahrd to tell if that was even a new version. For the former reason, Bombad Bounty doesn't count either. Quote
Final Exit Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 But just look at all the pieces that don't exist! Tiles that are bent. Wedge plates with no studs. Slopes that are oversized. Slopes with stud receptacles on the bottom and the side. Macaroni bricks staggered in widths that are less than a half a plate. Calm down, there isn't anything there impossible. look at the top of the new falcons cockpit corridor, those could be side mounted to make the rounded parts on the front side, pretty sure Lego make new parts when they have a need anyway. Yeah, but they don't make every single piece of a ship a new part. And they certainly don't smother their pieces with studs in every angle or bend them. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 25, 2011 Author Posted July 25, 2011 Calm down, there isn't anything there impossible. look at the top of the new falcons cockpit corridor, those could be side mounted to make the rounded parts on the front side Ah, but the pieces on the model are textured in the style of the rounded edges of tiles. Were they quarter cylinder pieces, they'd be completely smooth. I'm not saying it's impossible, but there are so many new or altered versions of pieces that I highly doubt TLG would release it in this form. Plus it's a ship that was in about half a season of CW and is nowhere near as iconic as the Falcon or ISD. And I don't think TLG has colors to match that model. To me, this model just looks like they needed some pieces to make certain shapes in a 3D model, so they made them look sort of like existing pieces, added some studs, and called it a day. Not unlike a lot of models in the video games. Quote
wokajablocka Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I wonder whether we will see this in actual set? They have already done this set if your interested in building it. You can get the instruction after playing search for R2 game on the star wars web site. After each level they will give you access to 1 of 4 instructions for this set. You can build it from parts from: 7748 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid, 7749 Echo Base, 8016 Hyena Droid Bomber, 8017 Darth Vader's TIE Fighter, 8018 Armored Assault Tank (AAT), 8019 Republic Attack Shuttle, 8036 Separtist Shuttle, 8037 Anakin's Y-Wing Starfighter, 8038 The Battle of Endor, 8039 Venator-class Repbublic Attack Cruiser. If you dont want to pull down your kits you can search for Malevolence part list on bricklink and order all the parts. I have done this method and it cost me with postage about $85. It would be nice if TLG released this set or re-done it as an official release with minifigs. Quote
Artanis I Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 (edited) (+1 for no need for codecs anymore if you use VLC... it is available for free for every platform, plays everything AV except BluRay - but only because it's not allowed to.) I DLed it but will buy it on disc when it's released. I found it very entertaining, but I did get a little bored with it near the end. They definitely got me with "Ian"... I felt so stupid! I loved the Taun Taun scene, that was funny. Edited July 26, 2011 by Artanis I Quote
Fallenangel Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 They have already done this set if your interested in building it. But it's not the same thing, is it? Quote
TheDarkness Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I finally watched this tonight, and loved it! So many jokes and treats for adult viewers as well as kids. I made the decision to watch it first tonight without my younglings, though I am suprised I didnt wake them up with my laughing. They will undoubtedly watch it many times over, but it will definitely be worth a re-visit! Quote
MaceWindu Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 It's great serial! Is it first LEGO SW serial? Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 It's the first, but hopefully not the last! Quote

They will undoubtedly watch it many times over, but it will definitely be worth a re-visit! I agree wholeheartedly. I was given the DVD for my birthday and we all immensely enjoyed watching it. I loved all the in-jokes and all those fantastic rebuilding moments only achievable with Lego. Ackbar's final line was absolutely golden! Shame only one other person understood it, though. Good job, Lego! Quote
DarthR2-D2 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Is there anywhere I can watch this on the web for free? Quote
2k gold Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I first saw some previews at Comic-con, and I thought that it was hilarious. I recorded it with my DVR and watched it several times. Quote
Lord Of The Fries Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Is there anywhere I can watch this on the web for free? You can watch it on YouTube in parts but they are really bad quality. Quote

legolooney Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 WOW, this looks brill!! LEGO animation has a way of being charming and silly at the same time. No canon lore going to come from it though Quote
UCSProductions1 Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Saw preview of this at comic con 2011 but it turned out to be not as good as I expected Quote
DBZkame Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Saw preview of this at comic con 2011 but it turned out to be not as good as I expected Agreed. It was not as funny as I thought it would be, but it was still pretty decent. My favorite part was Darth Vader trying to attack Yoda at Hoth before being pulled over By George Lucas Quote
Vindice Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Other than there? If not its fine. I would think it must be available on a torrent site. Try the piratebay or isohunt, bound to have it. Quote
