Runamuck Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 A little vig of how it all began. The glow is added by having my cellphone lying behind it. I have been wanting to do another Avatar build, and I apparently had a good amount of transparent blue bricks lying around, so it turned out as an iceberg. The figures are again made with handmade stickers and additional paper bits for some added details. Quote
Hoboman Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I like how you approched the Iceberg. The only change I would make is add some side elements to make it less like a box. But nice way to handle it. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Neat and simple vig 'Runamuck'.....how they found the last airbender. Brick On ! Quote
Stardusty Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 (edited) I must admit I was hoping you will make theatar scene from 'Ember Island Players', with uglyfied characters, but I guess this is ok, too. It's pretty basic build and not really accurate (iceberg was trans-light blue), but it still deserves . Figs are great to, considering they are hand-made. Also, I'm pretty sure there shouldn't be any snow on the iceberg, since it was actualy in water for hundred years. Edited July 10, 2011 by Stardusty Quote
Runamuck Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 Yes, accuracy is kind of down the toilet. The iceberg should be much bigger and rounder, but as a vig I confined it to an 8x8 plate, which results in more of an ice cube. The ice would look better in light transparent blue, but building it out of windshields was not the most appealing idea, so I chose regular blue instead. Katara’s and Sokka’s clothes are kind of wrong; they should be wearing their heavy coats. There is no Appa in the iceberg either. And the white stuff on the blue ice is kind of wrong too. It’s supposed to represent the swirled pattern on the surface of the ice ball, but I accidentally mirrored it. As for the Ember Island players, maybe another time. Quote
TheKingOfBuilding Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 (edited) Good idea to use a cellphone for a glowing effect! Edited July 10, 2011 by TheKingOfBuilding Quote
Oky Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 (edited) Another nice Avatar creation by you! The figures look great; Katara looks even better than the official one with that skirt, even if they don't fit in this particular scene. I agree that the trans-blue wasn't the best choice. Even trans-clear would have been better in my opinion, but it's not so bad. My main problem is that it really looks more like an ice cube than a sphere. I think it was a bad idea trying to confine yourself to a 8x8 space for this scene. Perhaps you can try to turn this into a bignette (16x16). I like how you tried to recreate the swirls though. And yes, the Ember Island Players would be great to see legofied too sometime! Keep it up! Edited July 10, 2011 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
CaptainBermuda Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 aangs not wearing pants! this is pretty cool. i love that show, and the model is pretty cool. maybe some floating chunks of ice and a half sunken boat. Quote
Runamuck Posted July 11, 2011 Author Posted July 11, 2011 (edited) So clear bricks would have been better? Well I have quite a few of those. The Boy in the Iceberg mark 2. Quite a bit of room in there, enough for… Appa! Yes, the way the arrow is made is stolen directly from the MOC Oky showed me. A bit blocky, but quite functional. All six legs, the tail and his head can move. Also as a little bonus, a little vig from Omashu. About Aang’s lack of pants, maybe he is on his way to Kyoshi Island in his mind. Edited July 11, 2011 by Runamuck Quote
Oky Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Ah, that looks much better! And nicely copied built Appa. Yes, it looks like a more blocky version of mine, but at least yours has movable legs. The Omashu scene, while simple, is good too. Bumi looks great, but I had a hard time recognizing Azula. Her face looks wierd with those big eyes and lips and her hair doesn't really work either. I use the dark brown pirate wench hair for her. And is that last line a hint at your next Airbender creation? Quote
Runamuck Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 (edited) I should have included this shot from the start, but the picture I took yesterday was blurry and I didn’t bother to reshoot it until now. Appa actually fits inside the iceberg. Also I have tried to improve some figures a little. I haven’t got any ideas for Kyoshi Island at the moment; it’s just a reference to Aang’s “Where we're going, you won't need any pants!” Edited July 12, 2011 by Runamuck Quote
Oky Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Ah, the two ladies (if that's what you can call them ) look much better now! Nice work! I haven’t got any ideas for Kyoshi Island at the moment; it’s just a reference to Aang’s “Where we're going, you won't need any pants!” I see. Well, whatever it is you're doing next, I'm looking forward to it. Quote
Stardusty Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Now that looks much better. Iceberg is better shapped and white pieces don't look like snow anymore. Appa is really good too. Omashu scene looks nice, but that first Azula looks really wierd. Second one is much, much better (second version of Toph is also a win). One question, though: Doesn't Toph has light-blue eyes? Quote
Runamuck Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 I would say that Toph’s eyes are a very pale green. Green is a common eye color for earth benders. Although depending on what scene you are looking at they could look light blue or light gray. I vent with light green with no pupils for the figure. Quote
