Hi folks. Have just spent most of the day reading all 69 pages of this thread and am quite impressed by the ingenuity of some of you guys. Am still finding my feet in the way of Lego again after 'growing out of it ' as a teenager ( yes I know you never grow out of it ). Got my mog on saturday and after about 6.5 hours I finally got it finished, Then i discovered this forum and now i want to tear it all to bits again and impove it. Already have been inspired by a few things.

Anyway. Cut to the chase!!

Really would like to rebuild it with PF and proper 4 wheel drive. Have managed after a bit of head scratching to get it to work i think.

have done 2 versions to run off the XL motor.

Version 1 runs 16T gears all the way from the motor to the centre diff. ( am not sure how fast the XL motor spins )

Version 2 is geared down with a ratio of 9:1 which should give it plenty of pull.

Have had to move a few of the other gears about to make things work. have tried to colour any new gears green and also the motor mounts are red bricks. The pink gear on the top interferes with the red double cross block which holds the bed down onto ther chassis so this would need re-located.

Hope it all makes sense( its only my 2nd post so go easy on me!!!! )

Have put the LDD files in too.

So, i picked up this fantastic set today.

I was looking at it the past couple of weeks and today we went to a nice legoshop. Saw it there and couldnt resist...

What a huge box!

And if you open it... Man, those tires are giant!

Building it now, arrived at second book. Great set!

was just wondering if anyone has got it to work before I order some PF parts/motors etc etc???

@ Captain_Scarlet: You should go ahead and order your extra Power Functions parts. Even if your LDD design may need to be refined once you build it, be assured that motorizing the Lego Technic 8110 Unimog U400 set has been done (in these YouTube videos by

and
).

Since you are new to Eurobricks, when you hit the RED "Reply" to a post, please don't QUOTE PICTURES. Repeating a long string of images (just to place a one-line reply) is bad form. Instead, hit the lowermost BLACK "Add Reply" to only post your words (and not the same pictures again). This topic is long enough as it is (69 pages!). If you could, please "Edit" your post above to remove the pictures (designated with the ".JPG" extension). Thanks. :classic:

Hi DLuders

Hope you're well.

Thought you'd be interested I what you helped me achieve. You can find it under Project 'Mog.

Apologies in advance for the pic links to my Picasa Album, I can't get the hang of uploading the pics so they show directly on Eurobricks. If there are any problems please llet me know.

Thank You again.

Nice mod, I have often thought of adding a cylinder to tilt the bed, but am crap at MOC's...

I think, it would make sense to open a new thread for the Unimog 8110 U-400, that includes all the MOCs, changes, improvements on the Unimog. It should also contain all the new attachments, equipments, that people build. It should show their ideas and what they are creating for this cool set. I am looking forward to see your creations!:classic:

I'll start today. I implemented a pneumatic driven cargo bed. It is driven by the original motorized pump and works pretty well. The lifting angle could be better. So there is still room for inmprovments.

Hey grum64-

Nice to see you posting, I used to do the same thing, except I quoted a HUGE long string of pics of the 8285 Tow Truck and got the same reply. I just highlight and delete the jpg images, learned it after a fellow Eurobricker told me what I was doing wrong, sometimes it helps to quote the poster and if its only one image, just to highlight what I'm talking about if its a short page thread, seems ok, but it is kind of confusing with all the reply buttons, or sometimes I just hit the black reply button instead if I am just adding to the conversation and not directly quoting somebody's post, if its a long multi-page thread sometimes the poster that I am responding to doesn't see that I am adding on to his post...so yes rather confusing at times...

Think ive figured out how to fit the motor in the front under the engine by mounting the steering rack ahead of the front axle insted of the original position behind. have tried to mount it as low as possible but after looking more closely i think the motor may just collide with some of the pieces bracing the upper parts near the engine. I beleive it should only do it when the suspension is fully compressed, so a little bit of re-sterngthening/braced will be needed of the upper lift arms in the area described.

Building it now, arrived at second book. Great set!

So, i finished the build of the set, but not quite 100%...

I'm missing a part needed in the winch - it's 4211889 in grey and i'm missing one...

How do i get in contact with Lego for this? Help would be appreciated.

Other then that. Fantastic set. Nice scale, functions and looks. Really great! :sweet:

you can fill in the form on lego.com

@ Captainmib: Since Lego Element ID #4211889 is Bricklink Part Number 41678 ("Technic, Axle and Pin Connector Perpendicular Double Split"), recommend buying one from a nearby Bricklink store. It would be faster and less expensive.

if it is am issing part then it will not cost a thing by Lego

bricklink is faster but still I would get the piece from lego

Thank you both!

Filled in the form on lego.com...

Yes, it is a missing part. Now my Mog can't tow itself to safety :tongue:

Now we wait

I´ve just completed my motorized Unimog.

tn_p1080545.jpg

I was in Hamburg at the weekend and I went to the LEGOstore there and bought some PowerFunctions motors for my Unimog. Now a 8293 PF Tuning set, a XL-motor, a remote control and a receiver is mine. Back at home i build the XL-motor, a M-motor, a receiver, a switch and a second battery box on the U400. It now has some nice LED-headlights, too. My cable management is very bad at this time:

tn_p1080548.jpg

The steering is still very simple and not the best solution. I only removed the crossaxles in the bach of the cabin and placed the M-motor instead of the crossaxles. I´ll build a better steering in the next time.

For the remote I use a solution by sariel: Remote by Sariel at brickshelf

More pictures and instructions for the remote at my Brickshelf

Sorry for the large pictures!!

EDIT:smaller pictures(Thank You bb15080 for the tip!)

Hi everybody,

today the first show able beta of the combined mower is ready. I'm still lacking some parts, but only some.

The ideas of the mowers are NOT mine! I just combined those ideas.

Here you go:

Have you a LDD file for this amazing creation?

It would be great because I´d like to build this one.

Greats

Pat, if you don't mind, would you provide me with ldd-file for your trailer?

Thx,

Jörg

PeterleB: tried the fenders, but no, doesn't work/look good.

Tried something with the parts 61070 and 61071. But they won't fit either... :hmpf_bad:

And tried some more... YIIIIIHHHHHHAAAAAA...
