efferman Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Wheels need to have no bigger diameter than the unimog ones. What we need is for the rim to be larger and tire smaller and we need more inset, or depth, so we can actually fit the suspension bits inside (and a braking system). its more the relationship between width and diameter. look at this picture 101_9349 von efferman auf Flickr the width is the same, but the proportions of my crawler tires is much more realistic. 94.8mm is a good size for the diameter but the 8110 tires are simply to wide. jacobkristensen Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 So then a new pair of gears would solve this issue :) Yeah, lol - Or I could just go back to the stock gearing of two 16 tooth gears(1:1), anyway late on when my building are is clean I will take a couple of photos:classic: Quote
allanp Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Wheels need to have no bigger diameter than the unimog ones. What we need is for the rim to be larger and tire smaller and we need more inset, or depth, so we can actually fit the suspension bits inside (and a braking system). More inset is the key. If you look at real world hubs on cars, the inset is usually the whole depth of the hub. Many truck wheels even have the inside face of the hub sticking out beyond the outside face of the tyre, so that when two are placed back to back, there is a gap between the tryes without the need for spacing. its more the relationship between width and diameter. look at this picture 101_9349 von efferman auf Flickr the width is the same, but the proportions of my crawler tires is much more realistic. 94.8mm is a good size for the diameter but the 8110 tires are simply to wide. I absolutely love those tyres Quote
jacobkristensen Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Are those tyres lego tyres and if not where to buy them, if somebody should be interessed? Quote

radar92 Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 My Unimog 6x6 Forwarder The front end is mostly stock. The crane is based off the logtruck's. It uses 1 Med motor for 6 functions, PTO F/R, Compressor, center slew, 2 for the crane. Right now the rear wheels are setup like a road grader. It also has a set of outriggers. Passenger side Driver side with controls, the white control under the crane selects between the LAs for the crane. Door open, there is a stick inside to hold it open. Quote
timslegos Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Wow fantastic MOD! The cage around the cab looks awesome. How about a video of the functions? tim Quote
dr_spock Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 My Unimog 6x6 Forwarder Nice. Do you have a pic of how the second axle is mounted? Quote
dr_spock Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 I made a drill rig attachment for my Unimog. unimog drill rig by dr_spock_888, on Flickr The drill bit came from one of my son's Mars Mission set. Video. The WIP version and attachment collection. Hmm, what to make next? Quote
radar92 Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Nice. Do you have a pic of how the second axle is mounted? Not right now, I'll take more pictures to-nite. Its held in place with 4 friction pins with bush. Wow fantastic MOD! The cage around the cab looks awesome. How about a video of the functions? tim Thank you, I have a bit more of work to do on it. Quote
DLuders Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 @ dr_spock: Nice Unimog drilling rig! It looks like its set up to find the Kimberlite diamond formations in the Far North! Quote
timslegos Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 @ dr_spock I think you have built just about everything! How about a log trailer? tim Quote
kieran Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Some nice bits there, all I did was RC and add a second pump to fill an air tank. This was all needed to drive the tilting bed and pneumatic out riggers for the stock crane. The one thing I would like to add now is a telescoping section for the crane, I think this will make it much more playable. Quote
radar92 Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Rear axle No rear axle, out riggers need more better attachment. Rear axle assy. Rear axle assy. Internals, took a few attempts, I'm looking at giving the crane it's own motor for both functions. The door worked out great, I will have to work on my other Mogs do the same. A clam shell design inspired from dr_spock's, I didn't have two of the other buckets. The rubber band helps it close better. The shovels are off set 1/2L to help the teeth mesh. Attachable grader, inspired by the PTH Speed Grader. It's all manual, this is version 3. Showing turning. Mulcher, uses my 3pt. hitch attachment Rake, uses my 3pt. hitch attachment Well that's how I spent my vacation. I still need to do work here and there. Quote
timslegos Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 I love the grader attachment. it is very original! Nicely done. tim Quote
radar92 Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 I love the grader attachment. it is very original! Nicely done. tim Thank you, when I found it on the web attached to a Unimog I just had to make it. Quote
dr_spock Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Thanks Dudler. I'll drill for Lego Power Miner's crystals. Rear axle Attachable grader Thanks for the rear axle pictures. Looks like you were having lots of fun on your vacation. Nice work on the grader. That's a very interesting piece of equipment. You could probably use the pneumatic and/or PTO to control it. @ dr_spock I think you have built just about everything! How about a log trailer? tim I have a log frame for my hook lift trailer. Does that count? Quote
