sama Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Hi, I just have a question. In the video with the Unimog trying to climb uphill using its winch, you hear a clicking sound meaning the white 24t clutch gear is disengaging. But the two clutch gears I got don't make a clicking sound when they disengage. The axle hole in the gear wheel just turns after a lot of force has been applied. Is this a new type of clutch gear or is something wrong with mines? Quote
Korni Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 (edited) which video do you mean?? I don´t know anything about clicking clutch gears Edited July 10, 2012 by Korni Quote
timslegos Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 I have a log frame for my hook lift trailer. Does that count? You really have made anything . I am out of ideas . tim Quote
jacobkristensen Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 (edited) Some nice bits there, all I did was RC and add a second pump to fill an air tank. This was all needed to drive the tilting bed and pneumatic out riggers for the stock crane. The one thing I would like to add now is a telescoping section for the crane, I think this will make it much more playable. That quit funny I have done almost the same as you. I have tried to attach a air tank, but after a few test that showed that would procude a lower pressure I didn't include it. Here is a small video, mostly showing the compressor and the mechanisme for tilt the bed. Do note that the in second part, I have reinforced it or it could rip it self apart. http://www.youtube.c...BT2C6d-fm8&hd=1 Edited July 10, 2012 by jacobkristensen Quote

Rikard Agren Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) I made a nice seat for the crane operator Inspired by your operator seat I put together my own version of an operator seat: By the way my first Lego Technic set in maybe 10-15 years. Finally I got kids to buy Lego to :) Edited July 22, 2012 by Rikard Agren Quote
timslegos Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 welcome back from the dark ages! Your cage looks pretty good on the MOG. tim Quote
Korni Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Much better than my seat! ... ...and much better in the rain Quote
SheepEater Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) The problem I see with that is the Unimog is not technic-fig scale. It's actually Supercar scale, the very first large scale "construction" truck Lego has done to be so. Put your fig in the driver's seat and he will look like a child. And I don't think anybody has answered my last question... can the real Unimog U400 tilt its bed? Edited July 23, 2012 by SheepEater Quote

SheepEater Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Darn... now I'm disappointed that Lego didn't implement this mechanism. Quote
allanp Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I would think that the tipping bed is just another optional extra. Quote
Mowaza Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 How do u mean gearbox only, these are what's needed for the steering conversion yes? Have u any videos of the steering working? Hello brick people! first post - ive just bought myself a 8110 Mog and this is my first technic/lego set in at least 15 years. Fun building - but now i want to motorize and RC the thing. Ive serached this forum up and down and seems all experienced folk here have their own solutions to power and create their own MOCs for this. There doesnt seem to be a unanimous best practice for motorizing this. As a newbie to all this, ive signed up with bricklink and also have downloaded the LDD software. Currently i own: 8110 PF kit (m-motor/battery box/lights/switch) Ive ordered 2x XL motors off bricklink... My plan is each XL will drive one axle of the Mog and a M-mtor will control the steering Ive installed the lights on the front bumper for kicks...would be great of i can light it up bit more. I need a solution for a better air tank too but thats not priority. Can anyone point me in the right direction in parts/best solutions for motorizing. Id love a LDD file that has a 2motor solution for front and rear drive ideally I just need to know what are the parts that i can then order form bricklink. With BL - do i just order different parts off different sellers till i make up my shopping cart or there are sellers with a bunch of these Mog parts? sorry about the wide range of Q's would appreciate any responses! Cheers Quote
daniele Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I put a M motor directly on the front axle with some reinforcements. This way, you have to remove the fake engine. IMHO, if you put a motor on the original axle in the cab, you will have a shitty steering due lots of gears with too much dead movements. You can move the tires from one side to the other before the gears and motor stop you. For the XL motor, there is the space for it, changing only one piece and using a simple axle join putting under the bed. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) Welcome to the forum Mowaza. With BL - do i just order different parts off different sellers till i make up my shopping cart or there are sellers with a bunch of these Mog parts? Yes just order the stuff you want first. Then if you can you should buy a few more 'usefull parts' or parts that you may need: pins, conectors, gears, liftarms. Ordering from a shop with a high part's count is good as it save time. My plan is each XL will drive one axle of the Mog and a M-mtor will control the steering I have just used one xl motor for the drive and a small motor for the steering. Ive installed the lights on the front bumper for kicks...would be great of i can light it up bit more. These lights flash. Electric, Light Brick 1 x 4 with Twin Top Lights You will need a pf converter cable and a small 9v cable. I need a solution for a better air tank too but thats not priority. Not many of us think these are necessary, but there should be some more info in this topic about adding a air tank. Id love a LDD file that has a 2 motor solution for front and rear drive ideally I am not aware of a file like this but it should be possible. Can anyone point me in the right direction in parts/best solutions for motorizing. You will also need a lego PF receiver and a controller. Edited August 6, 2012 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
Tim S. Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 This weekend I spend some time on building. I only wanted to motorize the moc but the changes became more and more... Here are some pics. regards Tim Quote
davidmull Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Alastair I remember those lights years ago, I'd like to but them again if they will work off current power functions? Have u a brick link part number for the differant colour caps u can put over the light? Did Lego ever make any other type flashing beckons ? Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) Nice job Tim s. David here is a link for the globes. These also flash. And these And these fit over the top. All these lights are a old 9v fiting so you need an extension cable. Ps my spelling of Alasdair is with a 'd' and not with a 't'. Edited August 6, 2012 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
TimH Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 I like the improvments you have made to your unimog Tim S. Quote
