efferman Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 your idea 1x2 liftarm idea will not work properly, but when you use a 2x2 round brick, instead of the 1x2 liftarm, it should work Quote
stefan_betula_pendula Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Good point and easy to fix, thanks. Quote

legotechnicblue Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 hm, you have a right for your own opinion, but when you look at the 8110, do you not must say that the cab of it is a little bit out of scale? the wheelbase and trackwidth fits perfect, compared to the tire diameter, to the real U400. But the Cab and its mudguards are to narrow, the platform is more narrow than the rear mudguards. And the rear mudguards are not at the same width like the tires. please compare the original 8110 with my first modifications there are not much parts needed to let it look much better and not so "bigfoot" like. with my own version iam going only a few steps more ahead to fit the other cab dimensions and get enough space for the vario pilot mode. thanks DLuders and Nazgarot edit some pics click the pics for bigger ones What are the knobs on the left hand side for? legotechnicblue Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 you are not alone, but if lego had done it like me, it would be too expensive. Where is your battery box? Quote
efferman Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 What are the knobs on the left hand side for? knobs? ore do you mean the four dishes Where is your battery box? behind the black part between the levers and the mudguard on the last picture Quote

Gondwana Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Hello Everybody, I have just regged to tell that my son (4yr) and I have also modded our 8110 to be remote controlled. The basic inspiration was blaz62's video, but slightly modded: the XL motor is slightly bended in his version, so the two 13stud sticks above the motor were changed to 11stud sticks (actually from our 9391, the catepilar wheelbase is now 13stud instead of 11, the 10T gear for steering is also pulled from this set). The mounting had plenty options, we chose one L-shaped 4:3stud and one 3stud piece. The more amazing discovery was to see that the cabin is projected likely to insert a 11stud stick between the seats and to build steering on it mostly based on default 8293 gears. I shall take some photos next week to link them here, too. I'm glad, I've just found (well, google found it actually) this great forum! Quote
Unimog22 Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 That xl set up is not a great idea at all and u only have 2wd , most of use used the instructions on YouTube of adding an xl motor to the chassis and it works great and so easy to fit as if Lego nearly intended :) Yes the steering mod above is good! http://m.youtube.com...h?v=NQIBRyDFwcY This is the link for to fit the motor :) Hi, I know I'm a little late with that question, but I'm new to this topic and have read all 52 pages here twice, but still don't find what I need... I simply want to RC my mog with an XL motor as many of you obviously did. And I'd like to do that "simple version" shown in that video which I have watched countless times. But I still don't get it... . As a beginner I'd like to see a some easy instructions (best an .lxf) and expicially a list of the parts I have to buy apart from the XL motor. I hope, someone is so kind and provide me with those instructions or at least show me, where to find them in case I've actually missed them somewhere here. Thanks! Quote

The video shows the parts needed: Thanks, but I have watched this viedeo several times nad don't get it. The really important part for me - where and how to install the motor exactly - is very shaky. I can't believe that with all the modifications posted here, nobody has ever posted the way, reportedly most peaople motorized their mog... . By the way, I have another question: I have found a post, somwhere here about a motorzied snow plough for the mog. There was even an LDD to download (which I did). But I can't find this post or any other information about this motorized plough any more. Have been going through the whole thread again, but it has vanished. Anyone remember who made that motor plough and if he added any kind of discription? Thanks. Quote
therealjustin Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 My black rims arrived and I could not wait to put them on. I also added large sprockets for center hubs(the small ones looked too small). I haven't applied any stickers yet. Now this is a proper Unimog! Why Lego switched from the black to gray during the prototype stage I'll never understand. Quote

jadedomg Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I like the black better in this set, yet in 9398 I found the grey looked better so I swapped the rims in mine as well :) Quote

Zerobricks Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Just motorized mine. Its very wasy, the gears in portala xles ahve been replaced by 8 and 24 and the XL motor was placed in the rear, where it atatched directly to center diff diveshaft. Front axle was slighty redesigned with half a stud higher steering arm and higher steering angle. The steering motor sits in the cab paralell to fake steering axle. The total drive gear ratio is 1:4,2, giving it enough torque for some medium trialing, but diffs are still opened. Took me an hour to modify, its fun to drive. Quote
