Paul B Technic Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Has anybody built a rubbish loader for this? I am designing one at the moment and would love to see what other people have come up with. Quote
Paul B Technic Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 (edited) Over the past few days I have designing and building a new attachement for the Unimog U400 - Set 8110. Below is a link to my blog where I have a write up, photos and a video of it in action. http://paulstechnic....ish-lifter.html Edited September 13, 2013 by Paul B Quote
Paul B Technic Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 That looks very cool. I like the dual rear wheels. Quote
Junpei Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 That looks sick, Eigenbroetler! How did you get the dual live axles to work? Amazing job! Quote

Junpei Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 OK, I see how it works. I'm just amazed that you got the axles to balance when the shock absorbers have 2 degrees of freedom. Will there be a video? Quote
Eigenbroetler Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 if i find the time, i will try to make a video :) Quote

radar92 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Well I started wanting to make a 5th wheel towing device like Tru Hitch. I tried a few ideas but it didn't work out. I was able to make a mountable crane. It retains much of its 42008 heritage. I flipped the booms structure placing the extending part inside. The out-rigger drive is now the slew. I added two spot lights to the operator’s side. I used all the green to make the base. Not pictured is a set of manual out-riggers, based off the 8110 setup. The platform is stabilized off the wheels to prevent rocking. Also on the Mog is a side platform for shunting and a coupling attachment on the front. I didn't mount the battery pack on the back because of clearance issues on my other Mog. I try to keep attachments universal. I have a few other items to photograph. Quote
radar92 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 My variation on a sander for the Unimog. It’s powered off the PTO and fling with a vengeance. It uses two sets of the old style tracks in the bin for a conveyor. Quote
radar92 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 The whole collection of my Unimogs and their attachments. In the back on the lowloader is the material handler 42006 made to fit the unimogs The center Mog has the latest attachment I was working on a banquet paver, the front works and I started roughing out the rear sweeper and the compacter, not pictured, needs a way to attach, kinda short on parts. I also have converted the grader attachment to pnumatic. A towable grader based on the trailgrader design. A bit too flexible, dismantaled it for parts Quote
skriblez Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 So many Unimogs and attchments! Very nice work Quote
dvsntt Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Radar92, that is amazing. I love your collection there, and would love to see it in more detail. Excrutiating detail, it looks like you have taken a lot of time to design and build those. Quote
dr_spock Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 The whole collection of my Unimogs and their attachments. In the back on the lowloader is the material handler 42006 made to fit the unimogs That is sizeable collection of attachments. Well done. Quote
technicfan Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Has anyone done a simple tip deck for the Unimog?. Quote
Lighti Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I recently stumbled over a series of Unimog pictures, which might give people ideas for attachments/MODs. here you go: http://www.heise.de/autos/artikel/Mercedes-Unimog-Der-Profi-im-Einsatz-1542316.html?view=bildergalerie Quote
CisFran Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 (edited) So I finally finished my Unimog today after the box sitting on the shelf for 10 months I modified it to RC (as noted on the youtube tutorials), used XL motor for driving and an M motor for steering. You can also see the series of bricks I used to brace the motor to the connector in between the seats M motor is already powerful for steering so I geared down it with 8-tooth & 40-tooth gears. I also relocated the battery to the center of the bed for equal weight distribution (as seen earlier here also). The IR receiver is mounted on the side with the switch of the pump motor The previous location of the battery box is now empty and I used a panel to cover it. The cover swings upward and I will use the space to mount the airtank. Edited October 10, 2013 by CisFran Quote
Paul B Technic Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Those are some good looking mods, well done. Quote
CisFran Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Thanks Paul. I was looking at your blog when I'm building mine to check how you've done it with the servo and L motor. Though I am saving my L motor for the ultimate 42009 and the servo is darn expensive! Quote
TinkerBrick Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 @ CisFran You don't need a 2nd L-Motor for the Ultimate 42009. A M-motor for boom extension is enough. Although i don't know if an L-motor has the torque to move the Unimog. Quote

CisFran Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Nothing new, just installed my airtank Used airtank cost around $20++ per piece in bricklink. So I just bought a complete set 8462 tow truck with dual airtanks for $65 Quote
