Want to order an air tank to have if needed, what's the difference between the blue and White air tank and also why are the so expensive on brick link ?

Posted

AFAIK they are the same except for the colour, and they are rare, there have only been a few sets with them in it. I might be able to sell you one a bit cheaper than BL.

I've always been wondering if the air tank has any kind of a pressurized elastic vessel inside of it, or is just a plastic box.

Could someone please share?

Its just a plastic tank. with two inlet/outlet ports.

If you have a T piece and a blob of sticky tack (or chewing gum) and a fizzy drinks bottle (MUST be a fizzy drink pressurised bottle not a water bottle) you can make a far better air tank!

The tank is not actually that great it holds about 6 cylinder strokes worth of air. A pop bottle holds ten times that.

I don't know anything about the internal mechanics, someone should do pressure measurements to figure out whether its a balloon or just an empty cylinder :)

Where do you live? Shipping is an important factor.

Netherlands, shipping would probably be terribly expensive.

i think they should make a new airtank studless style with connections like the old technic figure seats, studs bottom holes on the side.

the airtank would have a rubber balloon like a water gun which wouldnt expand until you reach a certain pressure and once the air reaches that mark the balloon expands inside the plasic shell slowly, so this way they can make the plastic as cheap as they like because its just the rubber inside that matters and it will also not give less pressure as the balloon will decrease in size therefore compensating for when you use the air.

They won't fit in a mailbox though I think (is diameter more than 3.8cm?)

Just cut it in half. Problem solved.

An airtank has a width of 4 studs, that is 4*0.8cm = 3.2 cm. However. You might want to use an envelope with padding, thus making the letter too big.

to ship an air tank from uk to netherlands would be around 70 GB pence and the same to ?Ireland so shipping from netherlands to IRE will cost peanuts.

Shipping would cost 8 bucks or require me to take it apart which I won't, so I think you're better off buying on from bricklink. Alternatively, 8462 is a great set with two airtank and some other pneumatics in it and it can be had for about 50 bucks around here, so that might be a good choice too.
