I Scream Clone Posted July 15, 2011 Author Posted July 15, 2011 I don't think I could do this justice, as although I'm fascinated by the Western theme, I don't have any minifigs that are suitable, so my scene would look a bit odd. Really looking forward to what everyone comes up with; it's an excellent competition. Plenty of figures on Bricklink, and you have 8 weeks to build. Quote
legodac Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 This truly does sound awesome and I'm sure I will enter at least one, in one of the categories. However, I do have a question, I read the guidelines for the contest and the part about "no cutting of Bricks" caught my eye. My question is simple, will you allow small holes to be drilled through a brick to allow small gauge wire to pass whereby bringing electrical low voltage lighting into the diorama? Quote

You may light up your building, however not for the first picture (voting picture) presented, as this isn't a light up your MOC competition, though it may look quite nice. Quote
Dr Rod Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Looking forward to it ISC!! Might have to pull bits of El Bricko apart though to get enough parts. Oleg. Quote

My question is simple, will you allow small holes to be drilled through a brick to allow small gauge wire to pass whereby bringing electrical low voltage lighting into the diorama? So I take it the answer to my question is yes, though for my first pic the lights must be off, that may be hard to see since I am planning a Lego Box Diorama Scene. I suppose I could turn off the chandelier and the lanterns, though the effect wouldn't be the same, or perhaps I could simply remove the box and allow the sunshine in. Then, put the box back and light up my Lego eh, for the rest of the pictures? Sorry, I meant to quote the answer to the first question here as well Edited July 16, 2011 by legodac Quote
AussieJimbo Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Great contest. For any Aussies, "How the West Was Won" is currently showing on GEM. It's full of interesting action to fire the imagination. I've already done a Western Train Chase MOD based on scenes from this movie but it's disqualified because I posted it a couple of months ago. It will be a fun challenge finding something new and interesting to take on. Good luck everyone. :classic: Quote
Oky Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 For category 3, is digital minifig customization allowed? Like altering a photograph of a minifig? Quote
I Scream Clone Posted July 16, 2011 Author Posted July 16, 2011 For category 3, is digital minifig customization allowed? Like altering a photograph of a minifig? Ah, but then it would defeat the purpose of making a custom figure Since we have said no digital entries it wouldn't qualify for judging, sorry. Quote
Stardusty Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 This is fine for categories 1 and 2, but its hard to make a custom figure in micro scale. If you want to build a town or train in macro scale, then it will be huge! Might have trouble building a town on 64x64 though Custom figures for Cat 3 should be minifig scale, rules updated. I'm afraid I don't quite understand you. Category two is town, and it wouldn't be a problem to build it in micro scale, while building custom figure in micro scale would be more than a problem. So is that a typo, or micro scale town really wouldn't be allowed, but different sizes of custom figure would be allowed? I couldn't find anything new in rules. Quote
Guss Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 It's been a long time since I participated in a EB contest, and I like the theme of this one, Do you already know what will be the deadline ? I might build something but It'll take me more than one month I think. Quote
badboytje88 Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 I know cutting bricks isn't allowed, but what is your opinion on cutting flex tubing? Quote

Legorski Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 I've got a question regarding the 3rd category, as for the Vignette I would like to build, I'd like to use a minifig I've already built here. As this is a Spaghetti Western competition, I want to build a vignette from the Spaghetti Western that is the most famous, The Good The Bad and The Ugly. Having already built the Eastwood minifig I would like to use, would my entry still be valid? The actual Vignette will of corse be original, but I would prefer for the Eastwood minifig to remain the same. Legorski, Quote
Derfel Cadarn Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Hmmm... No piece limit? I'm sooo tempted to build a town. Still, sounds like a great contest! Quote

I know cutting bricks isn't allowed, but what is your opinion on cutting flex tubing? I see no problem with this as flex comes in many lengths already, go for it. Derfel Cadarn Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Just a quick question, if I was to build a large town based on a movie, would a certain Deloreon time machine look too out of place, if you get what I'm saying? Quote

Toltomeja Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 How will the winer be chosen? Voting or jury? Quote
Stardusty Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 I don't see any problem on my screen I still don't understand... Few times word figure is mentioned. If you say figure that could be figure in any size. If it's clearly stated minifigure, I understand, but this way... So please, just say, in which category minifig scale is needed to qualify, and in which category scale doesn't matter. Please, it's easier for everyone. Quote

So please, just say, in which category minifig scale is needed to qualify, and in which category scale doesn't matter. Please, it's easier for everyone. My attempt at humour, sorry. Any figure scale for Category 1 and 2. Minifigure scale only for Category 3 (Custom minifigure) Quote
Nieks Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Nice contest! When I figure out what to build.... I'm in! Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Any figure scale for Category 1 and 2. Minifigure scale only for Category 3 (Custom minifigure) So Technic figures are not allowed here? What about Fabuland guys? Quote
Stardusty Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 My attempt at humour, sorry. Any figure scale for Category 1 and 2. Minifigure scale only for Category 3 (Custom minifigure) Obviously I don't have enough sense of humour. Everythign iscrystal clear now, thank you. Answer to the post above mine: That's interesting. Fabuland figs are also treated as minifigures. Now I want some of them. Quote
