As a kid, 6394 was just awesome. I used the little elevator parts on so many MOCs as a kid :D. Great thread, brings back some great memories

6394 was a beautiful set, but no small part for the parking itself. If I look to just the service station part, it's still good, but 6378 and 6397 are better. I voted for the latter. Not because it's Octan. Shell would do as well. But it had everything. A shop, beautiful roof, tow truck, random family car, and even a car wash.

Well the Historical Downtown District of Lego City has two gas stations. The modern one from the lego city collection. It is down on the corner of Station Street, and Ward Ave. The gas station is not commonly used. But my all time favorite is the gas station from the town plan set. You forgot about it didn't you. Yes, yes you did. But its fine. The town plan gas station is better then the modern gas station because it includes a repair garage unlike the lego city sets. Plus the town plan gas station fits into smaller places better unlike most of the service stations shown here. I thank you for your time and I hope you will show the town plan service station. Thanks.

p.s thank you captian green hair for showing us a photo of the town plan service station

The one piece of information from this is our age groups, it appears from 1986 though to 1992 our members were school age and me, voting for the oldest makes me feel smegging old !

Though our 2007 Octan is comming up, people still like the late 80's gear and I can blame them for that - the stickering on those sets really gave them realism that is missing a little on the Octan ones.

Keep on voting !

I voted for 6397 cause I remeber seeing this in catalogs when I was younger and wanted again when it was re-released.

But my favorite non full station is 6562 Gas Stop Shop. It is the only one I've owned when I was little.

I plan on buying another and making it a full service station with a shop and maybe a little garage for the tow truck to bring vehicles to.

Great topic lightningtiger! :sweet:

why must you do this to me?? :cry3:

I have been waiting for TLG to do a new Service Station since I missed the 07 one which I loved and is crazy priced on the aftermarket. I really liked the Shell branding ones and the one that also featured the Ferrari branding is hilarious, how I wish they would do a new Shell branded one again.

However I like the Octan branding just as much. There are too many great ones for me to pick; Metro park and Service station are brilliant, how I would love a modern set like that! Not to mention the classic red motorcycle which I still think is still TLGs best representation of a motorcycle to date.

Excellent poll. It's interesting to see all of the different service station sets being put together. For myself, I voted for the 6378 - Shell Service Station, partly because of mine fond childhood memories plus the very fact that it belongs to the Classic Town era. However, the 6394 - Metro Park & Service Tower comes very close for me too, if I had actually owned it.

Thank you LT for starting this poll.

Even though I have a Shell station in my personal layout...

(Pic snipped)

I still had to vote for 6397.

This is a brilliant build Scorpio, and a dead on MOC of a current day Shell in the US (at least midwest).

If I missed the original thread, I'm glad you decided to share it in this thread.

Well partly that's your own fault, I haven't voted because you didn't include this which I've owned since childhood, or this which I always wished for. I bought 325 after my dark ages.

My favorite is 6394, but the garage really puts that set in a class of its own and it's probably unfair to compare it to the others. Among the others, I like 6397 a lot. The recent one is good too but I love the design of that canopy roof in 6397.

Sorry 'Peterab' I was just working on the minifig scale sets.....heck, if I included every servo done in 50 odd years....man , that would be a long poll !

Keep voting everyone !

For me it is the 6394 Metro Park and Service Tower. The set in my possession is still the original set I had since I was young. The fact it is the only parking garage with a car elevator ever produced makes it my favorite. Not to mentioned all the exclusive printed parts the set has!

I have to go with 6397/6472 Gas N' Wash Express. I love classic and modern so 7993 and the Shell promos are 2nd and 3rd. I first saw Gas N' Wash in '97, a few too many years after it's discontinuation. I really like the tow truck. The one from 6337 Fast Track Finish was too small for many of my vehicles. I was ecstatic to get it's re-release for my 13th birthday default_classic.gif

I love the car lift of 6371 but 6394 and 6397 are great too. I remember 6394 came out, it was one of the largest Town set ever and I really wanted it.
