lego wonkyeye Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I hope Lego makes a smaller helmet for iron man and does anyone else think that Jack Sparrows face would work for Tony Stark?
deskp Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 How come green lantern isn't mentioned in the press release? When they do have a "preview" minifigure of him, also they say the comic con minifigures are exclusive, so does that mean they are never gonna be produced again, or is it just a timed exclusivity, Or just exclusive to comic con atm? also all the other dc characther we've seen on display are classic comic styled. Would lego release a sub sub team with movie green lantern along side the other, and would a green lantern movie theme be viable 7(?) months after release. Basicaly what i want to know is how exclusive do you guys think the minifigure really is?
vexorian Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 (edited) I am pretty sure Green Lantern was mentioned explicitly. The minifigures from Comic Con are exclusive. Which probably means that once Green Lantern is released, it will look different than the Comic Con version. Remember that there were 12* different Batman minifigs. (* Made up number). After looking at a bunch of SDCC pics of the new figs and looking back on some older figs (Bats and Spidey), I REALLY wish that LEGO would just bite the bullet and MOLD the hero heads where required, instead of having these MASSIVE (and totally out of scale) 'helmet heads'. Batman, Iron Man, Catwoman... You should totally buy the "realistic" megabloks minifigs. I would really prefere figures that look like actual LEGO minifigs rather than small action figures. And the success of LEGO Batman hints me that I am not alone in this. ---------- I think one of these: or Would make Iron Man's head problem less prominent. I also guess that the helmet is bound to become smaller in the final release. Edited July 24, 2011 by vexorian
______ Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 The Iron Man head will definately become smaller when the sets are released, at the mo' I think it is just preliminary. :classic: Also who wants War Machine eventually? That would be epic!
the last chronicler Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I think Lego has hit the jackpot, I'm surprised this wasn't leaked. I'm missing some Batman characters, so this update is quite nice. I think my favorite is Wolverine, easily the best converted character.
Blondie-Wan Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I just noticed the official rules to the contest on the LEGO Superheroes page appear to give a slight hint as to what we can expect next year, at least in terms of the size / cost of the overall lineup, as well as of one particular set. As several have already pointed out, all three of the top prizes include "the complete 2012 LEGO Super Heroes: DC Universe collection," and the fourth prize includes "the LEGO Super Heroes: DC Universe Batcave set," which obviously tells us that we're getting multiple sets and that one of them will depict the Batcave. Beyond that, though, if you click on "Read More" for the rules, it gives the estimated retail values of the prizes, from which we learn the following: Second prize - The complete 2012 LEGO Super Heroes: DC Universe collection: $250.00 Third prize - The LEGO Super Heroes: DC Universe Batcave set, LEGO Batman video game for the platform of your choice, and a Batman T-shirt: $50.00 That suggests the 2012 DC Universe lineup is more substantial than, say, the entire Prince of Persia lineup, but less so than the combined eight retail sets so far for Pirates of the Caribbean - roughly comparable to the first year of Indiana Jones, minus the exclusives (Peril in Peru and the Brickmaster set). The bigger surprise, I think, is that the Batcave set apparently won't be a huge set, the "flagship" set for its year the way the previous one was, but instead a small set, surely no more than $20 (since one would presume the videogame and t-shirt combined would be at least $30). Also, the overall size of the lineup of sets might be a little smaller than suggested, if "the complete 2012 LEGO Super Heroes: DC Universe collection" referred to here includes things like the inevitable keychains, magnet sets, etc. that will surely accompany the line, instead of being made up purely of regular sets. But we'll find out for sure with time...
Miss Kyle Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Awesome investigation, Blondie-Wan, thank you! Let's see how things turn out.

I thought that these sets would be essentially a minifigure with some surroundings, not loads of missiles and play functions. It only makes me more excited however, because that means my bank won't die!!!
Alldarker Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I just noticed the official rules to the contest on the LEGO Superheroes page (...) Well spotted! I too was expecting the Bat Cave to be the flagship set, but your evidence undoubtedly shows that it will be one of the smaller sets in the first wave. What would be a realistic price breakdown for this first DC Wave? Say five sets: perhaps something like $109.99, $69.99, $34.99, $19.99 and $14.99? I'm really hoping an Arkham Asylum will make a comeback, especially if it's the largest of these sets...
MightyMegs Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 (edited) I'm guessing the JLA headquarters/satellite will be the big set... EDIT: and it would be really cool to have a bigger minifig of Darkseid, and a couple Para-demons, as the bad guys for this set... Edited July 26, 2011 by MightyMegs
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Third prize - The LEGO Super Heroes: DC Universe Batcave set, LEGO Batman video game for the platform of your choice, and a Batman T-shirt: $50.00 Something just doesn't add up... A brand new set-- licensed, no less, a video game (antiquated or not), AND a t-shirt for only $50??? If you ordered all of those things direct, at least if you could, do you really think you could EVER convince TLG to sell it to you for $50?
Blondie-Wan Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 (edited) Something just doesn't add up... A brand new set-- licensed, no less, a video game (antiquated or not), AND a t-shirt for only $50??? If you ordered all of those things direct, at least if you could, do you really think you could EVER convince TLG to sell it to you for $50? I don't know; I'm just taking note of what it says in the rules. TLG does offer videogames for around $20 from time to time, and a shirt for somewhere from $5 to $15 sounds about right, so that leaves us with perhaps $25 or less for the set. There are plenty of inexpensive licensed sets, of course - even Star Wars has had sets released for as little as $3.99 US (mostly just minis, of course, but still), and there are plenty of sets from various licensed themes that run for around $10 to $15 - Ambush in Cairo, Indiana Jones Motorcycle Chase, Jungle Duel, Army Men on Patrol, Mater's Spy Zone, Tokyo Pit Stop, World Grand Prix Racing Rivalry, Freeing Dobby, The Forbidden Forest, Desert Attack, Captain's Cabin, and all those Star Wars battlepacks, to name several from the past few years. I therefore don't have any trouble imagining the line containing a small set for something under $20 (in fact, I expect it, since they nearly always try to hit a variety of price points, including low ones, with the launch wave of a new theme); I'm just surprised that "The Batcave" is apparently such a small set. Perhaps the thinking is that since they already did a large Batcave previously when they were just doing Batman sets, they don't want it to be the big set in this new wave now that they're doing the whole DC universe and not just the Bat-specific portions thereof. Maybe they'll do another large Batcave later. Maybe the big set in this wave will be the JLA headquarters (as MightyMegs suggests), or the Fortress of Solitude, or a lair for Lex Luthor, or any of a zillion other possibilities. (I'm going to assume the flagship set - both literally and figuratively - of the first Marvel wave will be the Avengers helicarrier). Well spotted! That sounds plausible to me... I'm really hoping an Arkham Asylum will make a comeback, especially if it's the largest of these sets... I'm sure TLG understands the appeal of Batman and his rogues gallery, and I'd bet they will indeed revisit Arkham Asylum if the line goes on long enough (which I think it very well might). Ooh, you know what I think would be cool? A set for Superman's origin - one with Jor-El and Lara on Krypton, putting little baby Kal-El in the rocketship... Edited July 26, 2011 by Blondie-Wan
Joebot Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 EDIT: and it would be really cool to have a bigger minifig of Darkseid, and a couple Para-demons, as the bad guys for this set... Yeah, I'm holding out hope for some Fourth World stuff. Darkseid and Kalibak and all the rest of the New Gods would be amazing. That might not be mainstream enough though. I'm also trying to picture how a crystalline Fortress of Solitude might look in Lego form.

Miss Kyle Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I just hope they re-issue the tumbler. That was so cool. Mad I missed that one. Yeah, I cloned it with the PDF instructions, but the sticker sheet and the original instructions are totally overpriced. It's time for a new set!
deskp Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I just hope they re-issue the tumbler. That was so cool. Mad I missed that one. i hope they make a new tumbler, i found it way too huge. Some fan made tumblers looked really superb though, so i hope for a new and better. Also not too long ago that set was fairly reasonable priced on bricklink.
Pennas2000 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) I hope we get Batgirl and Kara/Supergirl. We need more female minifigs. Edited July 27, 2011 by Pennas2000
Blondie-Wan Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) I hope we get Batgirl and Kara/Supergirl. We need more female minifigs. We certainly do, and I think TLG knows it, too; in fact, I'd bet they've already had internal discussions about the opportunity these particular licensed themes present to have more female characters. Even though these comics universes have heavy male skews like most of the other source material for licensed themes (as well as most of TLG's homegrown themes, it must be said), both universes are so huge and abundant with characters, and have plenty of female characters throughout (both super- and non-super-). We do already know of several from DC: Wonder Woman Catwoman Harley Quinn Poison Ivy ... and one from Marvel: Black Widow I also suspect there will be more, from both sides of the Marvel/DC publishing divide, as well both sides of the heroine/villainess divide. In particular, if the X-Men are going to be one of the initial three major areas of focus for the Marvel line (as the press release notes), I can't help but imagine we'll get a few more Marvel women, since the X-Men have quite a few female members. phil skycrawler Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I just saw captain America yesterday and it makes me want the figure so much! I hope it dose not stay in a kids backpack. I wonder what the sets would be like? I hope its not anymore of those great figures, horrable set thing thats been done before.
Joebot Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I just saw captain America yesterday and it makes me want the figure so much! As I was watching the movie last weekend, I couldn't help but try to come up with possible Lego sets. Couple of ideas: 1) The Hydra submarine 2) Motorcyle chase 3) Red Skull's big, fancy car 4) The train sequence when they capture Professor Zola 5) Prisoner escape when Cap frees all the captured soldiers 6) Red Skull's gigantic plane (I know, that's probably not feasible) As far as mini-figs go, beyond the obvious Cap and Red Skull, some of the Howling Commandoes would be awesome. They get a little short-changed in the movie, unfortunately. They're never referred to as the "Howling Commandoes," and I don't think any of them are even given names!
MightyMegs Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I don't know which Joker I like best... the original, or the new one. But until the new one comes out:
Miss Kyle Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Holy Clown College, awesome idea to use the pierrot as Joker goons! Thanks for the inspiration! I'm glad I got the purple hat, too. It looks just fantastic.
Shtick Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Hey, guys. I was at Comic Con, and got to see the minifigs up close. The DC figures are pretty much complete. The Marvel ones are very early development. As for the Iron Man helmet, I was told that it is designed to swivel open, like the old knights or space helmets do. The helmet appeared to be handmade, so I'm sure there will be some further refinement as production moves along. Also, the arms are a different color because the body and leg detailing are stickers. None of the Marvel figures had printed details. Here's a close up shot of the Iron Man figure I took. Iron Man Prototype And no, I wasn't able to get either of the exclusive figures. The crowd was insane. What bothers me most is that a majority of those figures go straight to Ebay, leaving few for those of us that actually wanted them. Comic Con handouts used to be a lot better. I scored 2 mini TIE Fighter sets back in the day, as well as the Batman/Joker figures from 2 years ago pretty easily. Just one of my Comic Con complaints.
