Bobskink Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I'm not really a fan of a theme like this, so that may have affected my opinion about the fact that Lego really begins to have too much themes currently. When I go to my local Toys R Us, the shelves are still filled with sets from years back (Even from 2009!). With more themes some smaller stores will/have decided not to sell certain themes, meaning less profit for Lego. But I'm also not a sales manager or anything, it's just my simple thinking That's toystores in Europe. For some reason Amerikan kids/collectors buy every theme, in Europe we are more selective. Price of Persia didn't sell well, neither did Toystory.
SpiderSpaceman Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) I only have one wish: LEGO, gimme LOBO, and I will die a happy man-child. Edited July 21, 2011 by SpiderSpaceman
iKonoKlasT Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 That's toystores in Europe. For some reason Amerikan kids/collectors buy every theme, in Europe we are more selective. Price of Persia didn't sell well, neither did Toystory. Prince of Persia was not a good license. The movie sucks. Toy Story sets don't look like traditionnal Lego sets. Look Harry Potter and Star Wars sets, they sell pretty well in Europe.
Joebot Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Wow, this is really, really great news. I think this is going to be a huge success. TLC has finally figured out that their strongest asset is the humble mini-fig. Hopefully the Marvel / DC sets are decent, but honestly, the appeal of these sets is going to be the figs. I agree with the above poster who said this could end up rivaling the Star Wars license. Marvel and DC both have thousands of characters in their respective catalogs. Now, granted, I don't think we're going to see Squirrel Girl or Detective Chimp in any upcoming sets, but even so, there is a massive depth of material and characters for TLC to mine.
Masked Builder Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I can't wait to get my hans on some X-Men minifigures!
Blondie-Wan Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 You know, this topic title really shortchanges the magnitude of the announcement, IMO - the news is so, so much bigger than merely resuming an already-existing Batman theme.
CorneliusMurdock Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Now, granted, I don't think we're going to see Squirrel Girl or Detective Chimp in any upcoming sets, but even so, there is a massive depth of material and characters for TLC to mine. Aw man. I was holding out for Squirrel Girl. Now I'm not so sure I'll buy any of the sets. Seriously, though, Squirrel Girl kicked Doctor Doom's sorry butt once so she deserves a minifig. If the license lasts a few years maybe they can sneak her in a set.
Parrothead Rasmus Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) That's toystores in Europe. For some reason Amerikan kids/collectors buy every theme, in Europe we are more selective. Price of Persia didn't sell well, neither did Toystory. I don't collect every theme. My little brother doesn't either. We "Amerikans" can be very "selective." Prince of Persia and Toy Story didn't (and still doesn't) sell well where I live. So, please, keep your stereotypes to yourself. Back on topic... I wish they had a big Comic-Con in Chicago... I'd go to it each year! I don't know some of these people manage to go to all of them... that's just crazy! Anyway, I can't wait for the new DC sets... I feel bad for the people who syocked up on the old Batman and Spiderman minifigures. Edited July 20, 2011 by Parrothead Rasmus
Nuju Metru Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 This is certainly exciting! I hope we see some sets from Chris Nolan's Batman movies... including the past ones.
CF Mitch Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 All I can say is YES!!! Amen! Definitely a dream come true. Just amazing, truly amazing. Thanks, TLG Regards, Mitch
Parrothead Rasmus Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 This is certainly exciting! I hope we see some sets from Chris Nolan's Batman movies... including the past ones. I agree 100%! That'd be a dream come true...
Peppermint_M Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 There is a word I don't often use, infact the last time I used it was at the event after a particularly awesome time. NERDGASM Oh my gosh, I'm having a crisis. GREEN LANTERN LEGO!!!!!! Ok, I need to go calm down. YAYAYAYAYY
Orejon8 Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 What I would love is that the new Batman figures are based on Nolan films. How cool a Ledger's Joker and an Eckhart's Two-face would be!
The_Chosen_1 Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 MARVEL TOO?!?!?! Holy $#!*!! I guess we know which booth will be absolutely BUZZING with excitement this weekend. Lego is now set to take over the toy industry, mark my words.
______ Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I feel sorry for anyone who made customs of DC/Marvel now Seriously though this could rival Star Wars in my opinion, all the characters and sets will be amazing. Even non LEGO fans would not be able to resist
ZO6 Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Holy heart failure, Batman! Good on these companies for coming together and fulfilling the dreams of many! The prospects of having Batman and other DC franchises was huge news, but Marvel joining in too is overwhelmingly awesome. I have no doubts that all the figs will be outstanding, but I'm obviously most excited to see what kind of sets we get. Oh happy day!
TheLegoDr Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 This is great news, I'm really interested in more pics. Too bad for those who were holding on to their Batman figures, though. I'm sure the BL prices on those will plummet come next year. I don't know. A lot of BL prices on older Harry Potter figures remains high even though we have updated (better) versions of those too..Plus some people like having an "original."
toycardriver Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 To paraphrase the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons... BEST! NEWS! EVER! I was geeked out to hear that DC, But Marvel too? Now we can have Batman vs Iron Man, or Hulk vs Superman... Although I am not going to get into an argument about who would win!
Ted Bergstrom Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I'm suprised they got both DC Comics and Marvel, great deal This is great, can't wait to see the sets and the figures. I would love have a Iron Man minifigure along my collection.
jacob_uno Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Need to start saving money now! I was excited to hear this. My wife - not so much.
Kyp Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I almost screamed out loudly in joy! I'm very happy right now! Not only my favorite Batman, but Lantern and Sups aswell! HELL YES!
iKonoKlasT Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 What do Lego mean when they say "buildable characters". Aren't they all? The new LEGO DC Universe SUPER HEROES collection will feature 13 iconic super heroes in LEGO minifigure form, including: Batman™, Robin™, Catwoman™, The Joker, The Riddler™, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn™, Bane, Bruce Wayne, Superman™, Lex Luthor™ and Wonder Woman™. Buildable characters will include Batman, The Joker and Green Lantern. Select figures will be on display in the LEGO booth (#2829) at Comic-Con International at the San Diego Convention Center July 21-24.
jacob_uno Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 What do Lego mean when they say "buildable characters". Aren't they all? Buildable as Buzz and Zurg from the Toy Story Line is my guess.
Tamamono Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 We get X-Men and the Avengers, too? This is a dream come true! Like others have said, I hope the sets are actually well done and don't just include poorly thrown together vehicles.
