January 11, 201213 yr $56.99 or something like that. Oddly I called back a few minutes later and got a differant rep and I tried to order the sticker sheet, was not not gonna happen without the POP number on the booklet so I told the lady I would call back when I received the instruction manual that they just sold me Hmmm wow that is a lot for the instruction booklet!! But I will need to order it. I really hope it is shipped to you (and me haha) securely! I would like it as mint as possible. Hmm that is funny...it seems as if TLG doesn't need the proof of purchase number to process these orders. I ordered the sticker set no problem.

Unless you're willing to drop that much cash on the manual, it's really not needed. I simply downloaded a PDF copy from Lego and had it pulled up on my laptop while building. Not only was it cheaper, but much easier to build the model without having a massive instruction manual to deal with.

Very true but $55 is a lot cheaper then you could buy the manual on the secondary marker so I don't feel to bad spending the money on it
January 12, 201213 yr This may sound silly but I personally prefer to build from a paper manual. I don't like looking at a screen as I build... maybe it's the glare or something. I like to have a manual in my hand where I can look at it closely. I know I can use zoom on a computer but I like to visually see the whole thing.
January 12, 201213 yr Guys I need some help! I just got a reply from Lego. It looks like an automatic message.. They said that since there are so many missing pieces, I should get back to the shop and swap it for a new one.. Riiiiiiight. Truth be told, I did ask for over one hundred pieces (the sixty levers, wedges, technics long bricks, etc). So what should I tell them? Should I ask for a price quote? What if they ask me the serial number? Will a blatant lie suffice? Thanks The levers & the big dish are no longer in stock, so if that was the main part of your order then it may not be worth resubmitting it.
January 12, 201213 yr Yesterday evening I spent at least two hours adding nearly 500 pieces (all the ones I saw were quite rare in the EU on bricklink) then I received two emails.. One had a price quote, the other more recent email said that it could take two weeks to check whether they still have the pieces. I think the first one could be related to my previous attempt using the "missing parts" service instead of the "lost part" one. They seem to have different IDs. I just tried to call the 00800 number but it does not seem to work, I just hear a constant beep noise..
January 12, 201213 yr Hey, everybody! I know I'm joining the conversation late, but I've been thinking of building my own Falcon from scratch as well. I think the easiest and cheapest way to get the instruction manual would be off the internet rather than paying Lego $56. I'm sure there are sites like Peeron which have the entire manual uploaded and available for free.

If you're fine with a downloaded version and not a physical copy, you should be able to get that directly from LEGO, too: http://us.service.lego.com/en-US/BuildingInstructions/default.aspx
January 12, 201213 yr I got the right quote this time.. I added close to 500 pieces (or more probably) and the price was around 165£. I added the bricks that according to bricklink are in short supply in Europe. Did you proceed in the same fashion or did you just try to order the rarest pieces (like the dish, the mast-ladder thing)?
January 13, 201213 yr After receiving my last missing order for this "beast in plastic" from TLG, i must say it was a great adventure! I went for all the Original colours, and it was kinda fun to search trough BL for the right pieces in the right Stores! Before i´ve started with 10179 i´ve tried the same with the UCS-Snowspeeder and honestly:It was horrible!!!

January 13, 201213 yr Where did you find the 60 light bluish grey levers? I've ordered most of them from TLG directly!A few i already had at home!
January 13, 201213 yr I've ordered most of them from TLG directly!A few i already had at home! I was told they were discontinued, maybe they were just out.
January 13, 201213 yr I was told they were discontinued, maybe they were just out. Well my order for the Levers is about 4-5month ago,so maybe their stock-inventory has changed since then?!
January 14, 201213 yr Well my order for the Levers is about 4-5month ago,so maybe their stock-inventory has changed since then?! I have acquired pretty much every rare piece for this except for the levers, since I have 60 light gray levers, think I will use them until I can find the correct ones in quantity
January 16, 201213 yr I just spoke on the phone with the lady from TLG. I also inquired whether they still have the mini-antennas and well, they do. She said that nowadays they have a different part number or something along those lines but I had her add all 60 of them. That increased the order by £10 or so. Well now I have to find the radar dish somewhere.. She also said that I should buy the Super Star Destroyer now and save it for later :D
January 16, 201213 yr I ha question about 10179 that is not really about pricing, but I think it's better to post it here than making another thread. So, I have this set displayed at home and after 3 years it is reeeally dusty. It is impossible to clean it with a brush because little scratches occur and you can't really clean everything. So, I had an idea to bring it in the shower and wash it. Is it a good idea? Could it be damaged somehow? Tnx

January 16, 201213 yr Do you mind posting the item number when you receive your invoice Please do - if you actually get the right antennas. I received my order just a few days ago. It had 60 antennas - in black/black. Not so helpful.

I used my Dyson and the soft 'upholstry' brush attachment on my UCS AT-AT, which had been on display for a couple of years, and it worked really well. I was very careful & went over it keeping the brush a couple a few mm above it. In a worst case scenario you might need to recover a few parts from the cylinder, so it's best to try this when it's empty!

Well it's too late now.. I'll report back once I get the pieces. Edited January 16, 201213 yr by AvengerDr

Tnx The shower won't be a problem, but make sure you secure the drain before you wash the model so that you don't lose any small parts. Generally washing a model in dish soap and water is OK, but make sure the water doesn't go over 40C/100F, aka lukewarm but never hot. There are many threads on washing Lego on the board with much more detailed how-tos, a search will help you find them.
January 19, 201213 yr i got the 60 light bluish grey levers on different places, found 2 lots on ebay with light bluish grey levers, and then i have been buying lght bluish grey levers on BL but instead of light bluish grey bases, i have been getting blue, black and white bases. then i have ordered a batch of light bluish grey lever bases, and now i just swap the bases.
January 20, 201213 yr One thing I noticed about the light bluish grey levers that I used on my 10179 was how tight they fit on the studs. They were actually pretty difficult to remove at times. Did anyone else encounter this?
