Wow, I had no idea those had become so expensive! I'm extremely glad I started my build of 10179 back when I did. It looks like it was just in the nick of time.

If anyone is interested, I'll have two light bluish gray boat rigging to sell for 200$ each :D

I saw this last night on Ebay, and I couldn't believe it! (link here)

As the auction is now over I assume it's ok to mention it; this is the highest that I've ever seen one sell for!! It wasn't even new... at least I'm not feeling quite so bad about spending £750 on mine (which was still sealed)

Wow. That looks to me like the result of two people trying to snipe at the last second, both saying "I'll just bid some crazy value way above what it will sell for to make sure I win." One of those people is feeling pretty relieved right now. The other one, not so much...

The winner would be gutted if someone let them know the price of an equivalent set on Bricklink, where it can be had for less than £1K even if you insist on it coming from the UK.

I'm guessing someone is going to be getting negative feedback for not bothering to pay for the set, I mean hey it's better than paying that. I converted it to australian dollars and it's like $4.413.97

I think I actually wouldn't pay. It's a better option.

Do the instructions have some unique code? I read that they did, but I don't see it anywhere.

Hi, noob question here. I have only started to follow Lego for a few months now. I read the first few pages of this topic and there were discussions about a re-release of this set. But has Lego actually ever done that, with any set?

Thanks

It has been done many times in LSW.

3(or4?) AT-ATs

4 Slave 1s(one is Jango's)

2 Republic Gunships

2 AT-TEs

2ARC-180 figters

A lot of X-Wings, Y-Wings and TIEs

But I am almost sure this set will never be re released.

It's one of the greatest LEGO sets along with the modular building and some other.

I think the key point here is that they haven't re-released a UCS set. Despite the huge popularity of this set, I doubt that it will be re-released, unless it's a updated version. That said, I hope they do as I'd love another one!

As far as I'm aware only the old X-Wing and Y-Wing set where re released for a second run with new numbers, the examples above are re-makes not re-released. No UCS has been Re-made or Re-released.

Thanks for the answers. :) When the X-Wing and Y-Wing were re-released, they are not the same, had some changes and under different number/model though, right?

Well I meant these, the part count is usually one or so extra bricks, but the build is identical, just a new box and number.

-7140 X-Wing Fighter

-7142 X-Wing Fighter

-7150 TIE Fighter & Y-Wing

-7152 TIE Fighter & Y-Wing

-7262 TIE Fighter & Y-Wing

Actually 7262 was a different set. It used the new Vaders Tie Fighter (at the time) from the 10131 Tie collection and the Y-wing was now in bley instead of the old grays.

Just a quick questions for people who have gone down the "self build" route for the MF,

From your experiences, what were the hardest element/colour combinations to find?

I'm looking into going this route myself.

Ah, thanks! :)

I really regret not buying this brand new 10179 which were selling for 'just' S$1,000 (~US$800) that I saw in a shop in Singapore. It was about a year ago, right when I started to get into Lego and I didn't know how rare it was.
