I like your MOC!

Say, these 1x1 bricks with open studs on all sides that hold the dark green spikey things, are they reddish brown? Bricklink doesn't show any of these in reddish brown, but in your MOC they exist? Or is this a different type of brown?

Nice work! I like the shaping of the statue with curved bricks. I think it might have worked better with the eyes a little farther up or the nose a little farther down, though.

It's probably Old Brown.

Fantastic MOC, mikey!

The stone statue looks really authentic and mysterious, and the parts choice really makes it look like it was carved out of stone. I also really like the base for this MOC - the brown layer under the green really looks great, for reasons I can't quite put my finger on. Hm..

The only improvement I can think of is to perhaps alter some of the greenery. It sort of gives off an under-water vibe due to the apparent lack of gravity on the vines, which distracts a little. However, I'm by no means an expert on jungle foliage, so I suspect I'm totally wrong on that one.

Lastly, the minifigure featured here includes a really nice combo - namely the PoTC Cannibal torso with the Cave-Man beard.

Great work, keep it up!

This MOC does beg the question: Who is the Old Man of the Jungle? Is it th eminifig or could it be refering to the old statue?

Regardless, I like this MOC quite a bit. The whole look works.

Very Good Job. :sweet:

I really like the figure and statue, but I wish there was more, your jungle theme really shows and I could see this on a larger scale.

Well done.

Thanks for the replies guys

Cheers, looking at it now, maybe the jumper plates turned 900 might have been better, as the eyes do seem a bit close to the nose. Those bricks are Reddish Brown, they came at an extravagant price per piece ratio though!

Cheers! I saw a MOC a few weeks ago that used lots of seaweed really close together, and to me it kind of simulated long swaying grass. I think I spaced them out to much here, which ruins the illusion a bit. Of course the ritual being performed here might explain the strange effects on gravity!

Thanks for picking up on the title ambiguity, I was kind of aiming that it could be referring to either the statue or the figure.

I wish I had more time to build mate! My time is that limited at the moment that I always want to finish something (although generally I don't actually manage to get it to work!) in the play time I have, so that I feel I have achieved something more than a WIP. Something like this on a bigger scale showing a proper ceremony happening in front would be epic. Maybe when I retire!

Really cool jungle there! It felt like real life, although I've never been in a jungle. What face did you use for the old man? Is it Lando's? From Star Wars?

Cheers, the head is Seso, from the Prince of Persia sets.

A really nice Moai statue mikey, love the foliage and crisp photography as well. Great job. Could you give me a link to you flickr as well please, so I can keep track of your other builds? Cheers
