prateek Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I am talking Canadian dollars. Errrr: 18 dollars for daddy 12 dollars for two girls = 24 dollars 10 dollars for crap food 10-15 dollars for parking (YES, we pay for a large underground parking garage!) Total: 62-67 dollars Sad, isn't it. In Canada the price of the set is inflated beyond the exchange rate (50% more vs 12% on exchange), so in the US it is significantly less expendive than a night out. in the words of the president..."dubya" tee efffff...$18 for a movie?! what theater did you go to? one lined with golden trimmings? even CAD that's pretty ridiculous. just get the dvd mate and save yourself some money. and why pay for parking? it's not like canada has a shortage of land. i guess some of that goes to the medical and welfare system... Movie tickets vary. If we go to a matinee with the kids they are down to 10 bucks for children, 13 adults. Evening shows are never less than 15$ for adults. Doesn't correlate with the quality of theatre either. If you go to a suburban mall, with big parking lots, Parking is free. If you go downtown Toronto, where I live, there hasn't been free parking here in 20 years. It's 2$ per half hour, maximum 20. My parking bill for work is 300-400$ per month. Life in the big city folks. woah! you get ripped off reeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy badly man X-O Quote
alex54 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 I've taken 2 pictures of my tunner garage to show how it is easy to make a minifig scale one: I just add some accessories, like tools and some other from the 2005 advent calandar. The car wash add is just because I need to have this configuration with the road base plate for my city. And I try to make the cars minifig scale too, making them 1 stund longer than the originals. So realy simple to do for a correct result. Quote
PaulC Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but inspired by alex54's work I've modified some of my own Tiny Turbos: Pictured are 8663 Fat Trax, 8661 Carbon Star, 8664 Street Maniac and 8662 Blue Renegade. Click on the picture to see more Tiny Turbo mods. Edited 25/11/2006 to fix broken links. Quote
Cabby Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but inspired by alex54's work I've modified some of my own Tiny Turbos Well thanks for resurrecting it, actually. Your mods are cool and it also gives the tuner garage my attention again. I was thinking of getting it because i like those Tiny Turbos (package, pieces, models - all good to me !) but i thought a garage was, ermm, overkill. :-) Well it seems i need to grab one ! *sweet* Thanks for the nice comprehensive review, too. highlandcattle Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Wow great modifications. I really need to rethink if I want to buy these racers. BTW paul nice gallery. Quote
alex54 Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Nice to see those Tiny turbo mods! I really like the racers, they looks like carts! Quote
PaulC Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Thanks for the kind comments guys! I'm now working on a Brick Street Customs garage that will fit in with my yet-to-be-built city where my minifigs can get their Tiny Turbos tuned up. I'll be using quite a few parts from my 8681 Tuner Garage. The Tiny Turbos are cool because I want my City streets to be full of regular traffic, not just emergency and construction vehicles. The current City and even the previous Town ranges don't have many regular vehicles at all, so the Tiny Turbos really fill the gap. Plus their low price means I can pick them up anytime without worrying too much about the cost. They're like sweets you can eat between meals without ruining your appetite... err... bank balance! I'll post progress pics when I can. MOC on! Quote
highlandcattle Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 The last two weeks I've also been working on some civilian cars and such. You can check them out at my flickr page. I've added inspirations and sets used there. But you are welcome to comment on them here :) Only the three first pics: http://flickr.com/photos/highlandcattle/ I'm know looking for this years autopod, since I liked the 2004 one so much. Quote

Cool pictures of Siberia too! It's taken me a whole week of building every evening to get the design close to how I want, but finally Brick Street Customs is open for business! Here are pics of the modded vehicles that come with 8681 Tuner Garage (click on the picture to see them all): And here are pictures of the garage itself (click on the picture to see them all): Enjoy! alex54 Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I really like your BSC garage! It's well done, with nice details (from the original set and addition like pieces from the 2005 advent calandar). I realy like, and the pics with cars and streetlight have a really touch of life! Quote
highlandcattle Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I too modded some more cars,my fleet of civillian cars is ever growing. Maybe we need a new car thread: anyway please check them out: http://flickr.com/photos/highlandcattle/ Quote
Hobbes Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 That's an excellent MOC/Mod, alex! Just how I'd picture a car repair shop. Even has an old-style feeling to it although it's a new set. Guess I have to get me one (or a few) after all... *y* Quote
PaulC Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Excellent work Alex, especially the very elegant hoist mechanism. Love it! *wub* Quote
Asuka Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Nice work, especially with that car platform! *y* Quote
alex54 Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Thanks for the coments! The car platform was the center of this project, I didn't want a garage without it. And if I could have an old-style feeling (my LEGO school) it was better. Quote
lostcarpark Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Wow, great review! I love the tiny turbos because they tend to have such great parts. My favourite is the TunerX (yellow version of the lime green car from this set), followed by Flame Glider (orange version of the yellow car from this set), both of which have great parts. I used three of the latter for parts for a black and orange train I was building. I actually had this set in my hand in a shop before Christmas and I decided not to buy it because the parts in the shop didn't look that useful. Now I find myself in need of lime green cheesers and really regretting that decision! If I see it again, it's mine. Otherwise, I might have to do another S@H order... Quote
xenologer Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Nice rebuild! Where?!? did you find all those great skylight pieces in the roof? and in Smoke color no less! Quote
alex54 Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Where?!? did you find all those great skylight pieces in the roof? and in Smoke color no less! In the old 2005 firestation... I destroyed it when I have seen the 2007 version :-D Quote
phoinix Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 great work alex! unlike many mocs it still has a "lego design" feeling to it! its not too much and not too little..its just perfect! (now i wanna buy a tuner garage :-$ ) Quote
