Mhh I didn't know it was for 4,5V. I remember my father bought two "manual" switch points because the electric one was too expensive.

Hey,

You can find more information about 12v trains on this site, it is in Dutch so that isn't a problem for you: http://legotreinforum.forum2go.nl/ .

About missing parts you can buy them on BL but it is sometimes expensive, check ebay of other sites for a model that isn't complete.

A the moment I don't have spare engines but check on ebay and with a little bit of luck you can find one for 40 euro's. I never had to pay that much for a 12v engine.

You better check on ebay in Germany, there you can find more parts for 12v trains.

Greetings,

Christophe

It's worth keeping an eye out on Ebay, I got a nearly complete 7735 with transformer for £50, got some new traction tyres and it runs great :)

Personally I agree with StephanSz, go for a PF conversion and perhaps try to bring the model 'up-to-date' by replacing any missing bricks with their modern equivalents. I'm thinking of doing a modern version of 7745, I think it'll look cool and it'll be a lot cheaper too :)

Indeed :sweet:

I found this messy auction on eBay :

Back at home, I checked al the parts and the box contains : A 7735 almost complete with his motor, a LOT of tracks, 1 road crossing, 2 manual points, 1 crossing, 1 remote controlled signal, 1 transformer. Except dust, all parts are in very good condition for… 60€

So my 7740 is now up and running  Missing only a few pieces now…

I always like to dream that one day I'll find a old lego train set and restore it, I also intend to work on a preservation railway when I'm in my grey years.

I was thinking about building one of these from scratch, but I dare say it'd cost an arm and a leg.

so I may have to do an updated version, using current building techniques ETC.

Very cool, love the photo quality too.

Looks like 7735 is the set to look out for if you want a reasonably priced 12v set default_satisfied.gif

There is multiple 7745 for sale on the dutch site 'marktplaats', around 100 - 150 bucks.

I like it pirate_thumbup.gif
