Berry Syedow Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Skeletons, dead or animated, have undeniably become a popular and relevant aspect of the Pirate mythology. So I thought ye buccaneers might appreciate this video: Link (Feel free to move the topic if it isn't suitable.) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 12, 2006 Governor Posted August 12, 2006 This thing sure is taking a long time to load... I wonder if its a browser problem... Quote
MattZitron Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 I dunno if this does belong here. I could just see some of the video. Not very good quality, and not Lego! Quote
Jipay Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Well it's hilarious, it's off topic, it's Eurobricks. Just let it here. And thanks for the link, it's awesome ! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 12, 2006 Governor Posted August 12, 2006 I dunno if this does belong here. Threads like this would be great for the general Pirate discussion sub-forum called The Officer's Mess. Too bad its hidden from everyone... Quote
Evil Willy Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 This certainly made me day, gosh people watch its funny! *Bump* Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 13, 2006 Governor Posted August 13, 2006 I've had better luck with Internet Explorer and the movie has loading. I must say what a charming marionette! All he really needs is a tricorne hate and he'd fit the pirate scene nicely! Quote
ghoulrealm Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 This is is exactly the sort of post that the pirate community sub-forum is all about. As of now, I believe it should be in community forum. I don't think it really fits in anywhere else. Maybe this "The Officer's Mess" if was available to all. This intire issue may just be the down side of a ranking system. The puppeteer is very good at what he does. *y* But I never liked marionettes. *n* Quote

The puppeteer is very good at what he does. *y* But I never liked marionettes. *n* After some deep meditation I've come to realize that I probably should not have placed this thread here. I was a bit iffy about the placement because I wasn't sure if it would get the same amount of responses, and the fact that it is an animated skeleton, making it slightly pirate related. :-/ Willy's thread made me contemplate a few things. How would Eurobricks feel if we departed to found our own site? Is it even worth doing? If too few mates post in the other forum sections should we promote non-pirate related contribution as part of the "pirate ranking system". (yeah, that doesn't exactly make sense ;-)) Most importantly, how can ghoulrealm not like marionettes?! ;-) Quote
ghoulrealm Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Most importantly, how can ghoulrealm not like marionettes?! ;-) I your'e truly asking, I'll explaine what I dislike about marionettes. I geuss it just comes down to artistic style of the puppet. Everyone I've seen is carved wood and looks like it was finished rather quickly (just enough to distinguish a different character) They at least need to remove all of the squarishness of the wood piece it was so obviously made from and most don't even have a hinged mouth (as this one did) I have a similar problem with Halloween masks and Dia dos Mortos decorations. They usually look rather cheap, and it's not any more difficult to make a more morphologically accurate looking skull or face. And the few marionettes in wich have some effort put into them, tend to look like Lady Elaine Fairchilde from Mister Rogers' Neighborhood :-X :-X :-X Perhaps they're that way for the comic effect, but that's about as funny as a mime... sarcasm |-/ Quote
ghoulrealm Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 I did a search and found some marionettes that I can appreciate> A more realistic skeleton A less realistic but a style I like and a little girl thats not all clowned up Quote
Admiral Starwind Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 That was FAHUCKINLARIOUS come peeps need to take some prozac or viagra cause that was funny. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 3, 2006 Governor Posted September 3, 2006 I did a search and found some marionettes that I can appreciate>A more realistic skeleton Exactly why do you respect these marionettes more Mr Ghoulrealm? Quote
ghoulrealm Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I don't think I can clarify the issue more than I allready have, but I'll try. First of all, I just don't find marionettes all that funny or or interesting, sorry :-( And the three I posted were the only ones I liked on my breif quest to find some aesthetically pleasing marionette designs. I feel like this thread is turning into the "why ghoulrealm hates marionettes" topic. I'm very particular about most things. I can usually find something good in most things, but more distastes than partiality. Quote
