simonjedi Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 The likelihood of LEGO doing anythingto satisfy the purists is precisely nil. Fixed for accuracy. The set is too expensive for me atm, although I'll try to pick it up if it goes on sale. Quote
r74 Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 (edited) Finished building this set earlier for my little boy and enjoyed all 3 hrs of it, I also panicked after completing bags 4 and having not the usual few spares but the same as in the review pics so least I can stop scanning both manuals to see if i missed anything. My only other gripe is under the trap door on the right hand side of the ship is section that slots underneath and 2 x red pins pushed in to hold this section but its not very secure and doesnt always stop the under section falling out, does this need to be modded or have i done something wrong? I also wasnt impressed when the sticker sheet came out the box all creased up but managed to salvage them. Why dont they make stickier stickers? Edited August 21, 2011 by r74 Quote
Professor Jones Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 (edited) Just finished building mine, here's a quick pros/cons to sum up my opinion : Pros : -great looking, very faithful to the "real" one. A real eye catcher. -nice internal details Cons : -too much stickers -only one minifig can fit in the cockpit (I would have loved to put Han AND Chewie in there) -droids and at last one stormtrooper should have been included All in all a good set, which I don't regret buying. My only other gripe is under the trap door on the right hand side of the ship is section that slots underneath and 2 x red pins pushed in to hold this section but its not very secure and doesnt always stop the under section falling out, does this need to be modded or have i done something wrong? I had that same problem too until I realized that big piece has to be pushed into the white plate next to the missile turret. It's not easy to get it in but once you do it's secure. The_Chosen_1 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 As far as System-scale Falcons go, this one takes the trophy. I won't be buying it, as I'm working on piecing together a UCS Millennium Falcon at the moment. But I will be looking to buy the great minifigs. To me, if you combine 7965's minifigs (along with the droids) with 10179, you've got the ultimate Falcon. Quote
mr_saber Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 thank you, still prefer the UCS version but this may turn out to be an alternative Quote
Titan Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Love the design of your bathroom tiles! Oh, and good review too, Quote
Siegfried Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 -only one minifig can fit in the cockpit (I would have loved to put Han AND Chewie in there) Well you can! In fact, with some quick "special modifications"... ...you can fit a walrus in there too! Quote
50missioncap Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Got this set on Friday at TRU for 30% off. Waited for the sale as it seems there's quite a bit of criticism out there toward it. I started building yesterday and completed this morning... I was blown away with the set. Do Han and Chewie fit in the cockpit (strictly using directions), no. Is the bottom unfinished, yes. I think too many people - including the manager at my local lego store - compare this to the UCS Falcon... total apples to oranges. This set costs 1/5 of the UCS original retail... 1/15 of the current BL / ebay costs of the UCS. This set occupies 1/4 the space of the UCS set (this is a huge consideration for me as I am sure it is for many of you). I know the UCS is sweet, but I refused to pay that much for a set. The 7965 has a great interior, looks fantastic from the outside, and the build (while slightly repetitious) was lengthy, challenging and fun. For all of you that missed the UCS and keep whining about it, while this is not the UCS, it is a cheap, space efficient and fun alterative. Probably the best set of the year. Don't let the haters dissuade you. This is a great set - if you are thinking about, just go get it. Quote
Cklasse Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Ok...I am 3 years late on this. I just ordered my 1st Star Wars Lego; the 7965 Falcon. I think this Falcon still looks good after so many years. Quote
joebiwankenobi Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Just got one for Christmas and having second thoughts about keeping it sealed after reading this review. I know it's retired but I'm REALLY tempted to put it together now! Quote
Cklasse Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Do it ! Lenovo I am thinking of adding walls or modding the interior to resemble a bit closer to the real MF. Has anyone done this before? Quote
