Future74 Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Thanks Grogall for those high-res pictures without watermark! Truelly awesome sets are coming in the january wave. To be honest I havent found anything to complain about as of yet. Looking forward to this I will Quote
Ceroknight Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 NO! Nute Gunray's Headdress is the same mold. At least its got printing. What was wrong with it? I really liked it Quote
JimBee Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Here it is on coruscant, from Revenge of the Sith: Ah, thanks. I don't quite remember that (I thought Anakin took a different ship to Mustafar), but it's been a while since I last saw it. It’s a nod toward accuracy. I assume you were linking to your own post on that page? Sure, it might be more proportionally correct, but what's that do if it doesn't even look like the same ship anymore? Personally, I think they nailed the design when they went the simple route by using those angled plates for the wings. With this new green one, they ruined the sleekness and angularity of the old design by adding the inner "fins" (dark bley). Thanks for the info, though, I didn't realize Aayla's JSF was in RotS as well. Perhaps they can make that one next? On another note, I don't really like the printed dirt marks on the Stormies. There's a point where the printing can get too realistic, IMO. Quote

CMP Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 On another note, I don't really like the printed dirt marks on the Stormies. There's a point where the printing can get too realistic, IMO. In my mind, that day is only when they start printing ears and noses. I think the commandos are just Pearl Dark Gray. They do look rather reddish, though. Quote
commdr_neyo Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Then it's safe to assume that the Cloud Car and AT-ST are Series 2 Planet sets, right? I don't think so, this summer we got Podracers and a Naboo Starfigter, and we'll also see those as planet sets. And that'd mean the Lobot is a planet set exclusive, which I doubt. I think the sets will be MF scaled, aswell as they'll be planet sets. Quote

I'd like to have a new Cloud Car Quote

And that'd mean the Lobot is a planet set exclusive, which I doubt. I think the sets will be MF scaled, aswell as they'll be planet sets. That's a good point. Still, we only knew about the planet sets until after those two were out (or at least known). Maybe that's where they were heading with the "new concept". We're also getting an X-Wing in a planet set, so it makes sense. So perhaps I can have a Cloud Car army after all. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 In light of these new pictures, none of these sets excite me very much (I'm still waiting for high-res pics of the Barriss/Gree set). The one I like the most is the Clone Wars BP, if only for the Clones included. A single interesting Clone can cost $15 on BL anyway, so $15 for four figures and some parts isn't bad. I'm also wondering if the set will have all of the Clone accessories in red, since it includes a red antenna and, so far, Clone accessories have only ever come all together. I do like the new cloth Clone skirt better than the plastic ones, though. At first I thought the Interceptor was a neat set, but I quickly came to think otherwise. The ship itself is way too big, way way way too big. Just look at the pic that Fallen posted and then look at the picture of the set. Even the original design was a bit too big, but that's just because of the odd scale of minifigures. This one seems ridiculous. The Anakin figure is also extremely ugly, the face anyway. I understand what LEGO was going for, but it's kind of a turn-off. Obi-Wan definitely has a new hair-mould though, and he and Nute look pretty cool. And what's to be said for the rest? They are all fine, they just don't interest me. I have no desire for more Endor rebels or a new Tie or a new X-Wing, and really I think the Droid Escape set is quite boring. The Sandtroopers are nice, but they don't justify the entire set. Quote
wesker Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 On the list of minifigs on the side it looks like lower and wider. I could be wrong, though. It also looks like the hairpiece has sideburns in the Mustafar pic. The CW figure didn't have any. Quote
Fallenangel Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I assume you were linking to your own post on that page? Personally, I think they nailed the design when they went the simple route by using those angled plates for the wings. With this new green one, they ruined the sleekness and angularity of the old design by adding the inner "fins" (dark bley). They’re not exactly fins; the wings are just shaped that way... While I share the opinion that The LEGO Group did an excellent job of capturing the look of the Eta-2 with 7256, as well as that the fact that the wings are larger in front does make the end result a bit clunky, I think that the other changes The LEGO Group has made to this new rendition, such as the wedge bricks around the cockpit bulb and the Technic pins in front, help the set look more like its on-screen counterpart enough that the bluntness at the bow is a small issue. I’m sure that the craft would look better from other angles, and if not, it looks like a pretty easy fix. Thanks for the info, though, I didn't realize Aayla's JSF was in RotS as well. Perhaps they can make that one next? Hopefully, with a full R4-G9 included. On another note, I don't really like the printed dirt marks on the Stormies. There's a point where the printing can get too realistic, IMO. Agreed. At first I thought the Interceptor was a neat set, but I quickly came to think otherwise. I understand what LEGO was going for, but it's kind of a turn-off. Obi-Wan definitely has a new hair-mould though, and he and Nute look pretty cool. Too true! An Eta-2 that was built within ‘minifigure scale’ would have saved us a fair bit of money. On the other hand, the fact that there’s more detail and less stickers on this one does make up for it somewhat. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I hate it when new pics appear when I'm away from the Internet the majority of the day. The new Threepio and Stormie torsos look awful. Something's just...wrong. Can't put my finger on it. I'm also not sure if I really like the insanely high level of weathering on the Sandtroopers; makes the printed legs less versatile. It's too bad the normal Stormies and Scouts don't have leg printing, too. Ironically, the Droid Escape, which contains those 'fig parts, is still the only definite buy. Quote
Piranha Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 noooo they ruined anakin's head print it is so ugly looks like he has a lack of sleep or something the printing is great but recycle CW hair is better than I thought but the face print ruined it. Obi Wan is pretty good. all the other sets look great huge appointment though on anakin Quote
KimT Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 huge appointment though on anakin Woot? I do agree that Anakin looks like he needs more sleep. Than and he looks like TeenWolf Quote
Tontus Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I can't wait to start army building trees. Now to figure out what to do with the extra troops. Oh wait a minute, I think I got that backwards.... Quote
CMP Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 looks like he has a lack of sleep or something Pfft. That's silly. Sith don't sleep. Take it from Darth Maul, they barely even blink. I actually like his new Sith eyed double head. His hair's probably going to cover up the majority, at least, if not all of the other side. Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Lego is a rather inconsistent company The ARC gets printed legs but the ARF doesn't?! Desert Stormies get all manner of printings but Endor one's don't?! C'mon Lego - printed Stormies available in a cheap battle pack would solve all our army building needs! In general imagine I'll get every set - best Jan wave in years...but, summer will need some bigger hitters or it won't be a vintage year Quote

Obi-Wan definitely has a new hair-mould though, and he and Nute look pretty cool. Since when has TLC every really been concerned with scale? If you were to mack an actual interceptor in scale to a minifigure, it would be to small to achieve all the details that a larger model could. You may be correct to say it's way out of proportion, but I'm just not seeing it. I also agree that the sith lord anakin face looks a bit "derpy" to say the least, I kinda wish they just made a neutral one and then the angry one on the reverse, and scrap the yellow eyes. Overall though, I think this set is great and is a definite buy for me! Quote
commanderneyo Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 The ARC gets printed legs but the ARF doesn't?! Desert Stormies get all manner of printings but Endor one's don't?! This ARF didn't have leg markings in the show, the ARC did, that is why the ARC (Hammer) has leg printing... Quote
Clone OPatra Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Agreed, But don't forget that the set comes with two interesting clones, and two new commando droids. That makes the battlepack a great buy! I'm not exactly sure what you're negating in my post. I think I said myself that it was a great buy, just not in those terms Quote
Esvald Forceswoop Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 The Jedi Starfighter looks amazing. Evil Anakin is cool! Commando Droids and Clone Troopers are amazing! But the cannon is horrible... The X-Wing really nice, such as the TIE Fighter. The droid escape the only, which looks horrible. Quote
DarthR2-D2 Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 My Bad everybody, when I saw Gunray's headdress I had the TPM one in mind so I thought Lego cheaped out But I forgot all about his ROTS headdress. My bad, my bad. I like how he's also green like he is in RoTS Quote
Ceroknight Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I just realized the three planet sets on the right weren't duplicates!! So this was what people were talking about the X-Wing, Cloud Car, AT-ST!! I have to say they don't really look that appealing, especially the Cloud Car And the X-Wing looks like the previous MINI version. Quote
GRogall Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 OOOH More goodies! Nice have to get this one..... Remember pictures link to HR version 2000+ pxl. 9495 Gold Leader's Y-Wing Starfighter Sorry KimT I know it means more work for you. For the rest enjoy! :classic: Quote
