XimenaPaulina Posted November 20, 2011 Author Posted November 20, 2011 Which does not mean that it is very well designed. But still a vast improvement from the previous 6212 version: - better cockpit/nose linearity - longer wing laser cannons - more accurate fusial thrust engines (back part) - better greebling on the top (beside the astromech socket) - presence of sloping part at the base of each engine (deflector screen projector) - concerted effort in making a hexagonal-shaped rear part Though it still has its fair share of shortcomings, particularly the printed/stickered round tile on the engines which sticks out like a "sore thumb". Seriously, why can't they just have made it a combination of a 1x2 tile + 1x1 tile to form a T-shaped detail? I know it's an illegal connection set-up but still it's better than that hideous round tile piece. Anyway, that is something that could be easily modded so never mind my minor complaint... Quote
Mr Man Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Who's Red 6? Thanks for the HI Res pics grogall . The X-Wing is an improvement on the other two and I'll get it. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted November 20, 2011 Author Posted November 20, 2011 Who's Red 6? Isn't it obvious that it's the "highlighted new minifig" of this set - Jek Porkins? Probably need to brush up on your OT history? Quote
Fallenangel Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 (edited) Which does not mean that it is very well designed. Well, the worm gear doesn't sit well with me either*, but from the beginning I've been trying to give this the benefit of the doubt. *See what I did there? EDIT: Wait, don't tell me you actually like the front bit? I'm only tolerating it because I don't feel anything better is really possible at this scale other than Psiaki's solution. Now 1:28 UCS scale, that's a different story... Edited November 20, 2011 by fallenangel309 Quote
Anio Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 EDIT: Wait, don't tell me you actually like the front bit? oh yes, I like it a lot. A little bit more LBG would be nice. Nut other than that, I think it couldn't be better. Quote

Let's not forget R2 is now in sideways. I can forgive ship details being slightly off, but having to reposition a character because of bad design is awful. To me it's like putting Luke in the cockpit sideways. Quote
Hollander Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Now I've seen pictures of the back of the X-wing (thanks grogall) I actually like it pretty much. The cannons, the back, the nose and engines are all improvements over the previous version which makes this one superior. And as there is also the new R5 unit (the red one) included in this set, I might probably even get it. Quote

CF Mitch Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 That close-up of the ARC-trooper is great, thanks commanderneyo I love the printing on the ARC, though for some reason the helmet seems to be a bit euh.... the opposite of 'wide' Regards, Mitch Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 I sooo need those new astromechs. And I haven't got half of those in existence today. Quote

I can't wait for these to come out, I will be spending like $100 on BPs alone. Yeah, shame on you.....a turbo laser blast took out Porkin's T-65....ouch, that's gotta hurt ! Now, those new clones.....I want stacks of them, best ones ever....such detail....they'll be worth the money (of course I'll wait for the first sales in 2012 to save some money ). Lego seem to be on the improve with leg and torso print design, more daring ! Quote
Parrothead Rasmus Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 All kinds of exciting things happen while I'm gone. Any closeups of Nute Gunray yet? Quote
commanderneyo Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 All kinds of exciting things happen while I'm gone. Any closeups of Nute Gunray yet? Not really. Someone zoomed in on the picture of the set with Gunray in and cropped just Gunray from the pic. But no "true" close-ups yet. I'll keep an eye out though. Quote

Ceroknight Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 The X-Wing certainly looks better, I haven't bought one since the original Lego version so I will try to buy this! Quote

382nd Legionnaire Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Those 2 clones from the battlepack look awesome. I don't understand why they had to combine clones and droids in one battlepack If Lego wants me to spend more money since there are clones and droids, then they already suckered me in. Quote
wokajablocka Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 With the plaet sets I want to know how big the planets are, I can get an approx size from the pics but I want to see it next to somthing for comparison. I was dissapointed with the death star planet, I thought it would look better than that. It dosent even look like is printed. the other planets are fully printed why couldnt the make the DS look better? Quote
