Unless you're European, then the discussion on where exclusive ends means absolutely nothing as it IS NOT THE SAME IN EUROPE!

Nor the rest of the world for that sake - it's not even the same from country to country -do I have to go on to prove my point here?

Hey man take it easy. I'm just stating ALL I KNOW! If I knew what they were in Europe I would've put it. But I don't.

Seeing as the there is a rumored "Old Republic Starfighter" set for next year, I can't help but speculate that it would come from the upcoming MMORPG game SW The Old Republic. Being a massive fan of the game's cinematic trailers, I chanced upon this on the game's official site and I think the set could feature either be one of these ships:

swtor_ships.png

Among these, the Thunderclap and Defender seem to be the Republic ships, so there's a chance that one of these two might be the rumored set?

I wouldn't exactly call those "starfighters", if built to minifig scale all of these ships would be roughly similar in size to the UCS Millennium Falcon. I have to agree there are some awesome models here though, i'd definately save up to buy a UCS release of the XS Freighter.

Or even a 250px-AurekFighter.jpg Aurek class fighter.

The last one I would go for the most.

The designs for most of these ships seem to be inspired from one or another of the current famous ships. The Mantis is like the Jedi starfighter, Fury is like a squashed Tie, Thunderclap looks like an X-wing missing its nose and with the wings glued on one side, the Defender looks like an A-wing has grown horns, the Freighter is so obvious that is inspired by Millenium Falcon, and I cant link the Phantom to anything yet but it looks like it has MonCal origins.

However the Defender is definitely my favorite one. :sweet:

I think the Phantom is actually most similar to a Naboo Cruiser, but I may be incorrect.

Today, I was reading online that the Jedi Interceptor was only going to be 19.99 is this true...If it is then I know what my first purchase is.

If we were to get any of these old republic starfighters I would like to see the X-70B Phantom, its different from what we usually see, I wonder what minifigs we would get with one of these fighters?

Where did you see that? If your source is accurate, that would be great news.

That would be excellent! I can't justify it if its more expensive than $30- it looks comparable price-wise to sets like Luke's Landspeeder, Droid Escape, and Republic Swamp Speeder which are all $20-$30. I think anywhere in that range would be reasonable, but if it is indeed only $20 it will be a definite buy for me.

I like all of those ships. The Fury's nice, the Mantis looks like something Boba Fett would own, and the Phantom is cool too.

Back on topic, The Freighter does look like a yellow precursor of the Millennium Falcon, and the Defender (which I quite like) looks a bit too "heavy" for the starfighter classification.

If it were one of the ships included on the image, it would probably be the Thunderclap. It kind of looks like a cross between a Skyhopper and X-Wing, but it seems to be the most likely one.

I want the Fury or the Phantom.

Though with TLG's 'pro-Republic/Rebels' policy, neither is likely. :hmpf_bad:

The Defender is a corvette anyway so that seems to be ruled out.

We'll I got this information from Brickipedia which says they got it from imperimdersteine so in the end, I really don't know, I hope it dosen't go up to 40$ like the Battle for Geonosis did, hopefully it will stay below 30$ like, as people said before, the Republic Swamp Speeder and Luke's Landspeeder.

By the way, dose anyone think its possible to see a couple of Attack of the Clones sets this year due to the fact that the movie is coming out in 2013 in 3D, I personally believe its very possible considering that episode one sets started coming out about one years in advanced, just wondering.

Where? The Brickipedia article for 9494 mentions a Flickr set from imperiumdersteine but makes no mention of the price; this page lists the price you mentioned but cites only one source which also says nothing about 9494 or its price. Imperiumdersteine isn't mentioned in the second page at all. Considering that the same page also lists an incorrect price for 9489, I'd say we're looking at fabricated numbers.

Posted (edited)

Ya, it seems like these are fabricated numbers but I still have hope that it will be 30$ By the way brickipedia had close-ups of obi-wan, gunray and the droid which made the set look even better and said it would contain 168 pieces so even if its not 20$ its stil a pretty good looking set.

Dose anybody know the price on the Y-wing yet?

That's just like SWTOR....lemme break it down.

Left to right, top to bottom: Slave I, TIE Fighter, Sidways Imperial Shuttle, fairly creative ship, Millenium Falcon, smashed up Tantive. Really, it seems like the whole game is going to be a mash-up of the OT, PT, and CW. The nearly-identical-to-clones-but-not-really-clone-troopers, all of these...gah. That's just me, who feels like everything should be brand new.

I would still like a Mantis, though....
