Vénérable Zaïus Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Does anyone else see Han Solo's head on the bottom left corner of Jabba's Palace? I see the block of Carbonite. ^^ Quote
mordatre Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Now I´m glad I didn´t bought the old skiff or old Jabba´s Palace. I think both of the new versions are excellent. Can´t wait for September! Quote
sok117 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Well, it may not be much but I'll offer my two cents. Melovolance looks okay so far, but sets like that usually lack a lot. Basically don't set your standards to high. You already know the scale is way off, plus the figures election is weird considering dooku wasn't even there. The back of the ship also looks weird, like it just ends rectangular. This one is a definite pass. Gungan sub looks pretty bad. Obviously TLC had to redo all the figures because that "NEW FIGURE" stamp is what sells nowadays. The build looks extremely lack-luster, and the smooth shape of the ship is ruined by an abundance of studs everywhere, all and all it looks incredibly flat and ugly. Does anyone know if the pieces used to achieve the smooth look on the front are new? Jabbas Palace looks like an awful set that is totally dependent on the figures. I mean ten figs? more then half of which are completely new, I think the build is just a slap in the face to the actual palace, the tower looks like it's made up of the front door, a storage room, then some place to stand a figure? From there it's just a stage for Jabba and a roof over his head. The figures will be the only reason this set is purchased. Sasse Tinns Starfighter isn't it supposed to be orange and white? Besides from being completely inaccurate, this thing looks pretty damn ugly, especially the cockpit. It looks like they've borrowed the idea from Atlantis, but to change it enough to allow it to fit seamlessly in the design. It looks like it was just added to the JSF format were all used too. But hey, we get two new figs, so TLC wins again! Fury Class Interceptoris definitely the best set of the way. The design looks pretty good, a couple of new figures, but the big drawing point is the cool new ship. From what I can see, the wings look really cool with the tie-fighter like appearance. I hope the body of the ship looks cool too and I hope it comes with a half-decent interior. This is the most probable purchase. Desert Skiff looks bad. It's all about the figs, the sarlacc is gross though I suppose it can fit a minifig inside. The skiff looks awful to be honest, the big pieces used at the back are definitely uncalled for and make the model look like it has to much junk in the trunk if you know what I am sayin'. Most likley a pass, but the new figures have me intrigued. Maybe a cloud city boba fett-esque figure? Republic striker starfighter looks... weird. I'm getting mixed signals. On the one hand, it looks like a good build that isn't whoreing itself out for figures, but on the other hand, the ship itself isn't all that appealing to me. I'm torn so I await better pictures. I think the star here is the Fury. Everything else just looks more or less like a sad excuse to get new figures out. Quote
fitbin Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Looks like the silhouette is of the Lego Alien from the collectable Minifig series. They wouldn't be lazy and just stick one of these in would they? Sorry. I can't link yet, but I'm sure you know which one I mean. It does look like an Ithorian, so hopefully it's a placeholder Quote

The only mini-figure here that doesn't make sense is the Tactical Droid, as there were none in that arc. 2. Saesee Tiin's starfighter is accurate to TCW. Probably not the starfighter you may be thinking of, but this is the starfighter he had in "Citadel Rescue". And remember, these are prelim pics. JackJonespaw Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 The Melovolance is cool, but I would rather see it as a UCS, with twenty or so figs. Like the 10188 Death Star, just with Clone Wars characters. That, I would be willing to buy at any price. Quote

I do generally agree with your opinion, however I think that the sets are not yet finished and by the time they come out they will be nicely refined. I can't speak about the rest but I know that when it comes to Malevolence Lego has no reason to bring out a rubbish model since the previous model of the same ship was a pretty solid build and very much to scale. You are correct, but that still doesn't explain why he or the tactical droid are present in the set if Anakin and Ashoka are there. TlC knows the timespan in the universe and has proven they can reflect it on sets (look at the new jabbas palace, it only has figures that make sense for the scene) So it begs the question as to why they were included. Obviously to just get a wider appeal by whoring out more figures. 2. That makes sense then. Thanks for clearing that up. I'm used to this one It still doesn't save the set from not being designed well. The cockpit looks like it was just stuck on as an after thought. I am well aware that these are preliminary. I know they are subject to changes, but my comments are based off of what I do and do not like as of now. Now I shall use the condescending winky face at you to make it seem as though you are the fool HAHAHAHAHA Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 More astromechs! I'll be very poor by the end of next year. Quote

Even if you were correct - "the objective is to get a wider appeal by whoring out more figures" - that doesn't explain the choice of figures included as well. 8095 and 7752 won't be available soon for a reasonable price. I like it that important minifigs like Grievous and Dooku can be found in an actual set. Quote
Masked Builder Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I found this on Hoth Bricks. It sure looks real and is somewhat interesting. Who doesn't like Yoda? Quote
The Legonater Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I'm not sure... Not only do these sets look badly done, but in a few images the minifig posing seems a little awkward. Especially Fet ton the Sarlacc set. Quote
brickbuilder Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Notice how the box for the Skiff says "New" next to Boba? I wonder what could be changed. Maybe leg printing? Quote
Artanis I Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I found this on Hoth Bricks. It sure looks real and is somewhat interesting. Who doesn't like Yoda? I don't particularly like Yoda looking like that He looks more like a gremlin! Hope that isn't the real final box art for the following year. Quote
Ceroknight Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Not seeing this new 'Yoda' thing... Can anyone help? Quote
Cad Bane Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Here's the link to the HothBricks article: Link! Also, the picture: Link I think Yoda looks kinda scary, but it does say that this is preliminary... Hopefully it will change before it is finalized for the 2013 run... Quote

brickbuilder Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Hahaha that isn't the final thing at all. TLG only said that Yoda would be on the box, the pictures there were created by Hoth Bricks to give us an idea of what it would looks like. Quote
LEGOman273 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Are the cockpit bubbles on the Bongo the half-planet pieces, or are they different? I can't tell. Quote
stackables Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Why is there a tower for Jabba's Palace? Am I missing something? I don't remember a "tower" in the palace. Quote
StoutFiles Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Why is there a tower for Jabba's Palace? Am I missing something? I don't remember a "tower" in the palace. The tower and throne resemble the palace shape from the outside. I'm a little worried that the figure not yet labeled in Jabba's Palace is an alien from the Alien Conquest line. Where is the "New!" logo for this one? Quote
Fighter of Frizzies Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) I'm not sure that the mystery figure is Hammerhead. Aren't they just using this as a place holder? Also, the tower is probably supposed to represent this (I assume once it is turned around): EDIT: Beat to it! Still leaving this up as visual reference Edited December 20, 2011 by Fighter of Frizzies Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 20, 2011 Author Posted December 20, 2011 Him and Bastila Shan really make the TOR sets for me Satele Shan. She's a descendant of Bastila Shan. 9500 Fury Class Interceptor: Darth Malgus, Sith trooper, different sith trooper 9497 Republic Striker Starfighter: Satelle Shan, Old Republic Astromech, Old Republic Trooper If I may guess the minifigs for the TOR sets, the astromech droid will be T7-O1, while the Old Republic Trooper is Jace Malcolm (most prominent trooper in the game trailers). 2. Saesee Tiin's starfighter is accurate to TCW. Probably not the starfighter you may be thinking of, but this is the starfighter he had in "Citadel Rescue". I honestly find the design of Saesee's Delta 7-B as utterly uninspired as it is basically just a green version of Ahsoka's. How's that for lazy designing huh? Not TLG's fault though, but the TCW guys'. (This lack of new designs is the reason why I stopped doing my Delta 7-B MOCs ) Quote
