legofett5 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 (edited) 9494 is without a doubt a PT set, from ROTS. Jedi Interceptors have not shown up in TCW yet, and they've only gone to Mustafar once in TCW, and they went with the Twilight, not a jedi starfighter. The faces are defiantly non-CW faces, for their eyes are the black with white pupil, and don't have the likenesses of their CW characters. I wouldn't see why it would be considered a CW sets, but to each their own I guess. Edited December 22, 2011 by legofett5 Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 Do we really need to keep going on about 9494 being PT, its not even a good set. While I don't necessarily agree that 9494 isn't a good set, Sion is right and we should stop this insignificant miniscule PT-CW category issue (I'll just edit that tidbit ok). So pls. people just drop it and give the Ol' Santatrooper a break! Quote
Huntleyfx Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Looking over and comparing the prices with the Harry Potter, I think we can surmise that Jabba's Palace is going to be in excess of $100, at least. That is a shame, but I think I am going to need to pick that up, having missed out the first time around. Quote
Aethersprite Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 (edited) Heh, sorry for bringing up the discussion on 9494 being CW or PT. As a Lego fan I'm not that into LSW even though I love SW. But I think 9494 is a great set - I don't have many SW sets, 9494 has a nice selection of minifigs, accessories, and a fairly nice ship, even though I still don't approve of the colour. Definitely getting this one. Edited December 22, 2011 by Lockon Stratos Quote
CMP Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 The Interceptor and the Commando droid battle pack are the only ones I really plan to get. I'm not into LEGO Star Wars much anymore, but damn, those figures. And the Interceptor will go well with my MOC'd one. I'm so glad they finally started printing Jedi tunics onto legs. Personally, I've been waiting for that since they started doing leg printing at all... Quote
DarthSion Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I think it's a pretty decent set, which some people who missed the first Jedi Interceptors can buy without regret. Well everyone has their own opinion. Next year's advent calender would be great for people who missed getting rebel troopers! Yeah its a nice idea, but green ick. Quote

This looks somewhat smaller than 8038 (The Battle of Endor, which included 12 minifigures and 890 pieces) which sold for about $100, so I'd reasonably think that Jabba's palace could sell for $60-$90. I mean the original jabba's palace was like $30 bucks, so for Lego to remake a set and charge four times as much would be unreal. Quote

It wouldn't be unprecedented - 7144 was about $20, while 8097 was $80. Then again, there was the $50 6209 in between those releases, so I suppose it isn't quite the same as a direct rerelease with that price jump. Quote
LegoDad Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I would be very surprised if it was less than the $99.99 price point. Too many *new* minifigs that will pull up the price on a set that looks like about 500-600 pieces. It would make me happy, because it is my must have for that wave since I don't have the first, but I doubt it. Quote
Huntleyfx Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I surmised it would probably be around that point by looking at the only other Harry Potter set that had 10 figures in it (the castle) then adjusted the price down slightly because of the low number of bricks. The biggest thing that will raise the price is Jabba, as we need to look at the SW creature prices, and how they bump up the price (I'm thinking about the Tauntaun and the Wampa.) Quote
plokooncelineboy Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I still don't understand how ANYONE could think the Jedi Interceptor/Mustafar set could ever be from CW. Have they even watched the movies?? I mean seriously this shouldn't even be being debated. Quote

Well only 7 of the 10 are new and out of those what makes them new is either the hat piece or the decal (Except for Jabba obviously). I already compared this to 8038 which had 12 minifigures, most of which were new variations, and had 890 pieces. That was at the $99.99 price point, so Jabba's palace with both less parts and less minifigures should come in under that price. Quote

Personally I find there's little point in trying to second guess TLGs pricing - we'll just have to wait and see Quote
Diggydoes Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I guess when it comes to the price-point of Jabba's Palace you shall not forget the size of the Jabba-Figure himself! If you look at the current Dino-sets and their price range i would they that they are kinda pricey because of the Dinos included,so i guess that the Jabba-Figure will def.bring the price up! I'm pretty sure that TLG don't count him as a simple minifig! Quote

It's too early to guess at the price of Jabba's Palace because it's not finalised yet and it could be a store exclusive which means TRU or what ever tax ? Quote

Man have things changed... And sorry, I don't mean to go on a rant but I don't see why so many people complain about the original. It wasn't bad, at least for a 2003 set I mean. Kitfistonator Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Summer sets look very promising! Jabba's Palace looks extremely well done especially in the minifigure department. Rumor has it that the 2012 Winter sets will be coming out December 26th here in the U.S. if this is true, then TLG has really been holding out on their release. Quote

Why hold the release after Christmas? Perfect gifts for kids and adults Quote
DarthR2-D2 Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Super Heroes sets were released early this year. If not for that Star Wars would've been 1st and a lot earlier... :P Quote
Clone OPatra Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 You are right! Why hold the release after Christmas? Perfect gifts for kids and adults Because they know the old stuff will sell anyway. At Christmas time, LEGO flies right off the shelves, where I am anyway. There don't need to be new sets for parents and children to gobble them right up. In January, there isn't as much of a reason to be buying new LEGO. But if a kid knows that all new sets just came out, won't he or she nag the parents to buy some of the new, just-released stuff? Quote
Emperor Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 You are right! Why hold the release after Christmas? Perfect gifts for kids and adults You also have to keep in mind that probably a lot of children get money for Christmas; releasing the new sets when there are lots of children with a lot of money to spend seems like a logical thing to do. For all those who get sets instead of money, see Clone O'Patras explanation By the way, the Y-Wing is 50€ in Germany - that means either 40 or 50$ in the US, I hope it is not the latter. Quote

Unfortunately, in the LEGO catalogue I got yesterday, the prices of SW are listed as follows: Y-Wing $49.99 TIE Fighter $54.99 X-Wing $59.99 Anakin's JSF $39.99 Overpriced, as usual. Quote
legolandia Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Droid Escape and the two Battle packs are already available in the UK at Littlewoods?! Does this mean that we are definitely looking at a January release rather than the rumoured Feb? Quote
